I wanted to try TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5. It imports and initially test plays correctly a divx file with pcm audio and video synched. But after I cut-edit several frames (15 sec) at the beginning of the clip, VMW doesn't appear to work properly:
- when it test plays the edited clip, the audio is out of synch. Basically, it plays audio from the last point when the clip was stopped and restarted, despite video is played from the beginning
- when edited clip is exported to a divx file with pcm audio (no codec of formatting changes at all, only a few frames cut at the beginning), the audio is delayed for 15 sec - the amount of cut video.
I expected that when cutting a clip in Cut-Edit, both video and audio are cut in synch by the program, so that it plays normally after export. But ut appears that audio is not cut, when video is cut, resulting in audio synch problems. Any ideas?
The file is downloaded from the web, as most people do. It plays OK in any player, and edited OK with other editors like AVIDemux. Nothing about this file is unusual. PCM is frequently used as audio format with divx.
It's unusual because LPCM is an uncompressed audio format. The whole point of DivX is to get high quality video in a compressed file so having uncompressed audio goes against that purpose. DivX typically uses mp3, AAC, or AC3 for audio. While it is possible to use LPCM, it is not an audio format that falls within the official DivX profiles.
Anyway, where did you get the file specifically? If it's a free download, I can try it myself since I personally don't have any DivX files with LPCM audio.
On several occasions when I have select "Write to media..." as part of the initial output of a project, AW4 writes to the DVD after creating the directories on the hard drive, but the DVD does not play (anywhere) and it appears not to be "finalized" when viewed in NERO. However, this only happens if the "Write to media..." is include as part of the initial project output. If I come back later and write to media using the Disc Writing Tool after the project is initially output the DVD is OK.
Hi, I just installed the trial version of VMW5. If this does what I need, then I plan to purchase it. My need is to edit some of the crap out of some of the Blu-Rays I own so my kids can see them. I ripped a blu-ray I own (AnyDVD) and then used TsMuxer 1.10.6 to create a .ts file of the main movie and sound. This file seems to have what I need, the basic movie and 5.1 ch. sound. Windows Media Player plays it without sound (I guess it's missing a codec), but VLC Media Player plays it with sound fine, so that is what I plan to use to view it.
When I bring it in as a .ts file into VMW5, it says the file has no sound, and sure enough, when editing is done, there is no sound. Any idea why VMW can't find the sound buried in the .ts file? Is there a missing codec, or a missing step in the process? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
TVMW5 uses DirectShow codecs so if your video doesn't play in Windows Media Player, it probably won't play in TVMW5. You can use a program like MediaInfo or GSpot to figure out which codecs you need.
Hi there, I'm a TMPGEnc user for some time, but this is the first time I feel really frustrated due to an error for which I haven't found any solution yet on the internet. I'm working with a intel core i7 ACER laptop, win 7, and ever since I installed authoring works 4 I have experienced this error, (on this laptop I guess, don't remember) but I learned to go around it, installing and uninstalling the k-lite codec pack every time I faced that error, but since 2 months ago, I can't work anymore. It doesn't matter what I do.. I get that error.. this has me very frustrated, there's nothing on the net about this..
I work usually with HD mp4 videos, but I can't do a thing anymore.. sometimes I get the error after it renders the menu, sometimes after the first added video or sometimes at 50%, and sometimes I don't get the error, but the software keeps rendering a black video, as if nothing was there.. and the remaining time gets endless...
can anyone help me out? thank you
Try contacting support. A discussion thread on Afterdawn.com suggests that it might be the audio stream that is causing the error. Try outputting with no audio and see if that solves the problem. If that is the problem, you may have to demux your audio stream, convert it to another format, and then bring it back into TAW4 as the audio source.
hi user !!!
i'm newbie in here
i'm just download 1 DVD (V2D)from web torrent
in there have 5 movie , i'm was asking uploader about how to do
them tell me TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring can to do that
but i'm do its can only 4 movie i'm convert vdo to 350mb also can put only 4 movie
so i'm need com her to ask about how to do 5 movie in 1 dvd ?
thanks you
You want to put 5 movies on one DVD? You can try using the fit-to-disc transcode option in the output stage, or you can manually lower the bitrate on each of your tracks until it can fit on one DVD. 5 full-length movies on one DVD will probably not look good though due to the low bitrate.

To add achapter point to a clip:
Select adn open the clip in the Edit screen of the Source tab.
Move the timeline cursor to the point where you want to add the chapter
Click the add chapter icon (a flag).
The chaptering tool is in the edit menu in the clip editor. Access the edit menu by clicking on the button on the right-hand side that has an icon that looks like a contextual menu.
i have noticed that only 49 - 50% of cpu is being used on my quad phenom II cpu,
i have tried many different settings, i can't get VMW 5 to use more, DivX 6.9.2 had great multhreading capability,
Fairuse wizard & staxrip uses about 85-96%,
i am quite sure Xpress never had this issue, yet it seems that VMW 5 is wasting 50% of cpu cycles,
the other problem i have noticed is that the Audio encoding is not multithreaded, only 25% of my cpu is being used (suggesting that it's single threaded)
i'm quite shocked to see such inefficiencies with VMW 5,
singlethreaded Audio encoding & low CPU usage for video encoding to ASP.
it took VMW 5 about 1.4 hours to encode a film,
if full CPU utilization was used, it would of took 55minutes
if audio encoding was multithreaded it would of took about 47 minutes Approx.
not sure what more i can do from my end, i have been messing around for quite some time, i can't get video encoding above 50% (it's like it's only dual threaded.... weird) and audio encoding i can't get above 25%, it's like it's single threaded.
