Bug report - TE25 - Error during encoding........ No.42277
errrika1979  2004-09-10 17:17:01 ( ID:7rkyoga0jww )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yeah, I left this going last night, and when I checked on it this morning, there was an error box that just said "error 580 848". I clicked ok, like 4 times and then it said "error 277 848" and numerous other #'s. I chcecked the progress of my movie........ it was at 96% and now isn't doing anything. Just sittng there.
I'm running Windows XP Pro on a Gateway Mediacenter with 69 GB available.
Anyone have any ideas?????

Question - TE30 - Divx5 problems No.53300
DOGG  2004-09-10 09:40:05 ( ID:fvg6olb5ns. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a 3 hour avi file encoded with divx5. I set everything up in 2.5 and it was encoding fine until almost the end where it gave me a message, "invalid scanline" or something similar and stopped the encoding. Would've been nice to have a 'skip frame' option. But no, it made the whole thing useless.

The avi plays fine in players.

So i grabbed 3.0 because you can cut out parts of the movie. I was just going to test if it could encode the bad part and if it couldn't, i'd cut out half a second or so. So when i add the avi to 3.0 and play it in the cutting mode, it won't show a picture, only the 1st frame. When it encodes it just encodes the one frame which stays on screen forever but with sound.

I used DivFix and DivxRepair an neither reported any errors with the file.

I've downloaded and installed the divx codec off the official website just in case something was wrong. Same problem still. So i downloaded a movie trailer off the site. It plays fine but it has no sound. LOL. Opposite problem.

I've also noticed, the trailer is 1:15 but in tmp 3.0 in the 'clip info it reports it as 1813 frames but in the 'cut-edit' when i play it says xxxx/3762 frames.

Question - TE25 - encoding from dvd to avi No.42274
smurfy  2004-09-09 19:33:22 ( ID:so/tsbvzv/j )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i'm a newbie and for some reason i don't know how to adjust the output size of the avi. it always outputs at i think 352x240. i have TMPGEnc Plus 2.521. does anyone know how to adjust the output size of the avi? i want to use the avi in premiere and after effects so that i can edit a home made dvd and add effects.

smurfy  2004-09-09 19:42:34 ( ID:so/tsbvzv/j )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i forgot to add that i want to export my editted movie to dvd (viewable on tv) so i also don't want to lose any quality which i've experienced in lots of other ripping programs. i seem to get pixelation in black clothes and jerky movements. any help would be appreciated.

Question - TE25 - Error: Cannot open or unsupported (AVI file) No.42270
Joey  2004-09-09 15:25:41 ( ID:1jgch0h1aj6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to encide an AVI file to MP2 using this software. When I select the video file, I get the error "File can not open or unsupported"

What is wrong here and what can I do to fix?

Thanks.

Sakuya  2004-09-17 06:36:33 ( ID:1iejbazj1k. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You're encoding an AVI to MP2? I don't think that's possible. Maybe you are converting an AVI to MPEG? Make sure your AVI is working. If it is, go into TMPGEnc, Options, Environmental Setting, VFAPI plug in. Right-click on DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority so that the entire row is at the top of the list. Restart TMPGEnc and try converting.

im having a problem with compressing my avi files. the final file has a lot of boxes in the movie its self....pixelation i think thats the term. is there a way to work around this? im using tmpgenc with the default settings for mpeg2.please help.thank you

Sakuya  2004-09-17 06:38:14 ( ID:1iejbazj1k. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Was your original AVI like this? If yes, please check that you have installed the proper codec. You can download the free GSpot to see what codec it uses. You're "compressing" the AVI? Do you mean "converting"?

Question - TE25 - wm9 to DVD No.42265
kyle  2004-09-09 05:16:26 ( ID:uy2d9plrddh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm trying to encode a Windows Media 9 encoded file to DVD (MPEG-2). It's encoding fine, but it shows like ~ 105,000 frames on a 25 minute video, and at about 33% done it hits the credits, then it encodes a bunch of blank frames that DO NOT exsist in the video.

Any Ideas. I've used the free version and the Plus Trial, same result.

B_Racer  2004-09-09 08:53:43 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That often happens on this Video-Format. It's because the variabloe Bitrate auf the Audio-Part and the variable Framerate of the Video-Part.

You can try this:
Setting -> Advanced -> Source Range
Mark it, doubleclick it, set the range to the last Videoframe you want.

Or open the Video by using AVISynths DirectShowSource Import Filter and frameserve it to TMPGEnc.

kyle  2004-09-10 04:51:27 ( ID:uy2d9plrddh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This worked fine and now I've found out theres no audio in the destination file, the format in the source file is mp3 i belive. Why would this be?

I have some satellite classes I have recorded that are 5 hours. I am trying out the Authoring version and love it. But, is there an easier way to have it determine how much goes on one DVD, then put the rest on a 2nd one?

Thanks for any help.

Question - TE25 - Audio is fine, video pauses. (TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress 3.0.4.24) No.42262
MiloDC  Home )  2004-09-08 16:15:33 ( ID:/92n/0gejjm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've recently had trouble converting some WMV files to DVD format.

During playback of the files in edit mode, video pauses for a few seconds while audio keeps playing. After a pause, video resumes in sync with the audio (i.e. it jumps ahead to catch up with the audio).

Pauses occur every few seconds, and always at the same places.

The glitch that takes place in edit mode carries over to encoding, i.e. my converted movies pause exactly as they do in edit mode playback.

Help, please.

-- Milo

Question - TE25 - subtitles? No.42258
john12  2004-09-07 20:16:12 ( ID:rqnccfglf1r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

does TMPEGnc have a filter to apply subttitles? im trying to add subs to an mpeg but virtual dub only records avi's making a reduction in quality of the video.

Sakuya  2004-09-17 06:39:24 ( ID:1iejbazj1k. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Do you want subtitles permanently encoded onto the video? Well first, apply the subtitles in Vdub. After it's done, follow this guide:

http://www.videohelp.com/virtualdubframeserve.htm

ashy  2004-09-17 12:17:54 ( ID:od.oqrlav66 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

All you need is VOBSUB.
VOBSUB will automatically add the subs for you when you load the AVI into TMPG.
You must ensure the subs are in the same folder as the AVI and have exactly the same name as the AVI.
http://www.divx-digest.com/software/vobsub.html
To make sure VOBSUB is working play the AVI, you should see a litle green arrow pop up in your task bar.
You should then see the subs in your movie.

The same goes for TMPG.

Question - TE25 - Problem Ecoding Xvid to DVD No.42257
Flash  2004-09-07 16:35:14 ( ID:hywsrqzufqm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a problem encoding 23.97 frame rate xvid files to DVD.
The problem is a slight jerk on playback not all the time but at regular intervals about every 5-10 seconds.
I have searched through the forum and got some great help but I still can't get rid of these jerks.
My PC is a P4 with 512 DDR.
A typical file properties from GSpot are
Codec - Xvid/yv12 (which are installed)
xy - 592x320 (1.85:1) [=37:20]
FPS - 23.97
Bitrate 876
Qf 0.193 (what ever that is?)
The problem occures when encoding with TMPGEnc Plus, the settings I have used are:
Video tab
720X480
16:9 Display
23.976fps (internally 29.97)
CQ 65 max 8000 min 2000
Main Profile & Main Level [MP@ML]
NTSC
3:2 pulldown when playback
Advanced
Non-Interlace (progressive)
Top field first
16:9 Display
No Margin (keep aspect ratio)

My knowledge on 3:2 pulldown isn't the best but my understanding is that with this form of encoding I am placing tags on the file for the DVD player to decode from 23 - 30.

I have had better results using Ulead Studio 7 and just encoding to PAL DVD but that doesn't explain what I am doing wrong with TMPGEnc.

Any help would be appreciated
