Question - TE25 - Template question - Video arrage method No.18845
athex  2002-04-13 03:12:17 ( ID:ochojnzavea )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am looking to create a template that correctly sets the size of the SVCD output for my DVDplayer/TV combo and found I needed to change the option: video arrage method under the advanced tab to correctly change the size of the video and still keep it in mpeg2 format. Unfortunately the template save function doesn't save this setting, and I am wondering what I need to set in the template to correctly save this setting in it for future use, as it is quite a pain to change it every time.

It should save it.

What messages are you getting?

Techno

athex  2002-04-13 15:34:04 ( ID:ochojnzavea )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well, it saves the template, just not the setting for video arrange method/size of the video arrage setting. I get no errors and it saves nearly every other setting. I can only assume it isn't built to save that setting and you have to manually enter it in the template

The frame in the m2v or video/audio may be corrupted. Try checking it through with another software

Techno  Home )  2002-04-13 09:27:02 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

if it is a DIVX 5 video, it is not supported

uninstall DIVX v5 and install v 4.12, then encode/preview, it should work

Question - TE25 - Merge & Cut does not work No.18835
toaddawet  2002-04-13 00:51:35 ( ID:a.e66vnr9.f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I found TMPGEnc about a month ago, and was really happy to finally find a free program that can edit MPEG files. The Merge & Cut part was awesome-but it has ceased to work. I began to notice that the start & end points I set were NOT the ones that I ended up with when the clip was processed. This has gotten noticeably worse recently, but it is not my computer-I installed it on another PC and had the same problem. It now is SEVERAL seconds difference between where I set the start & endpoints and where they actually are. Can anyone help? I am really upset about this-I have a video project that is due tonight, and TMPGEnc has fallen apart right when I needed it. Any help is appreciated.

sherlock  2002-04-13 21:15:40 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

the "cut" feature in "tmpgenc" sucks and I can"t find another mpeg cutting program that is free.so what i do is either cut my avi. files into 40min parts then encode them,or use the "source range" feature in the "advanced settings" that lets you encode the part of the movie that you wan"t,but I have had sync problems with it to...........

Question - TE25 - Merging MPEGs No.18833
Tyrane  2002-04-12 23:27:03 ( ID:.ewsiopv1ac )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm converting the Lord of the Rings DivX to VCD and encountering problems.. There are two files and converting them to .mpg was easy. However, now I've tried to merge them and the audio just cuts out after a while - approximately 29:45 into the first file til the end of the first file and then likewise for the second file. So, I have this 2 hour some file that looks great, but I only have audio for a half of an hour in the beginning and and half of an hour in the middle. Anyone know the problem? Is it the codec? I truly don't know and would like to fix the problem

Thanks

Tyrane  2002-04-12 23:29:09 ( ID:.ewsiopv1ac )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Oh - and I forgot to add....the two mpegs I used have the audio intact separately...

I use VirtualDub 1.3C to extract the audio to a wav file and use it when doing the conversion with TMPGEnc.

Question - TE25 - encoding SVCD w ver2.53 No.18826
fpill  2002-04-12 18:02:41 ( ID:kq.kdl11acj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I know this is a vague question, but I'll give all the details I can. I tried to encode a SVCD from a .d2v project(video) and an .wav(audio) from DVD2avi. I used TMPGE 2.53. When I ran it the process started, then an error box poped up and said the file for the SVCD could not be created. There was no information as to why it could not be created. I followed the wizard and a guide from VCDhelp. If any one knows some secret or a good guide for TMPGE please let me know.
Thank you

Bug report - TE25 - VBR 2pass: Min/Max Bitrate is not really considered No.18818
Shadow  2002-04-12 16:25:49 ( ID:kgkhrgeoimc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi folks,

I wanted to make a SVCD, so I used TMPGenc 2.53 with 2pass VBR for encoding the video. I set the Minimum Bitrate = 1600, Maximum Bitrate = 2400 and Average Bitrate = 1800 because I knew, my Pioneer DV444 DVD-Player would have problems if Bitrate would fall below about 1400 at SVCD (the speed of the drive falls from 2x to 1x and you get display-errors).

But nevertheless I got some errors after VERY calm scenes. So I examined the video-file with the bitrate-viewer and found that the bitrate sank far below the minimum bitrate I entered in TMPGenc.

Anyone else experienced something like that? Did I do something wrong?

RD  2002-04-12 20:16:20 ( ID:fjnmccbfefj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No, you did nothing wrong.
Tmpgenc does not respect the max bitrate either.
I really wish the developers would fix this!!!!
How hard is it to force the mpeg encoder to never go below an
absolute number and never go ABOVE an absolute number?
Its really frustrating for me too.

Mikehg  2002-04-12 21:56:38 ( ID:7jjkoszs5yf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are you checking the pad if lower option? Also, if you are using Bitview to view the bitrate, it does not show the correct rate if you're using 23.976 w/pullup. You need to subtract about 20% from the shown values.

Ashy  2002-04-13 10:36:04 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Correct, use the padding option. This should correct it when the bitrate falls below a certain point, but this is not a fault of TMPGenc. It happens in most encoders as the bitrate settings are only nominal and not absolute.

Also the problem you are having with display problems when the bitrate drops below 1400kbps shouldn't be happening as a DVD will regularly drop it's bitrate below this point and theres no problem with your DVD's right.
If you are burning your SVCD's at high speed then this is probably your problem.
You should never burn above 4x as this will give serious disply problems on most DVD players and even then lower speeds will give even better playback.
On my Toshiba anything above 4x jerks like hell with blocks popping up all over the place with loud squelches in the sound, but at 4x the disk plays nearly perfect with the odd jerk and at 2x the disk plays flawlessly every time.

I just noticed you have a Pioneer DVD player. You probably will have this problem on this machine as it's very finicky about bitrates.
Still try the burning option.

Shadow  2002-04-13 12:09:38 ( ID:kgkhrgeoimc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for your suggestions, I always burn my VCD/SVCD´s with 16x speed and never had any problems. I will try to use the "padding" option, hope this helps.

Ashy  2002-04-13 12:18:11 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

16X! I'm suprised you don't get any problems with this. You probably do, but you don't realise it is your burning speed.
Even on sites such as vcdhelp.com the recommended is 4x and on on some of the other encoder software makers they recommend no more than two, so i'd give this a try if your problems persist.

Question - TE25 - smr encoded avi not supported..? No.18816
agastino  Home )  2002-04-12 15:12:21 ( ID:oycyzbxb0cc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an SMR encoded video I want to convert to a VCD PAL MPEG1 file, but an error comes up saying "File 'filename' can not open, or unsupported. The file itself can be viewed perfectly in Windows Media Player, is there, or will there be support for these types of avi files? or is there another way to convert to MPEG1?

load in the avi file in TMPGENC

choose a template, or create your own.

encode!

Then after this, you may wish to encode the MPEG file to dvd again.
