Question - TE25 - Merge & Cut freezes under WIN XP PRO No.18610
verschenkt  2002-04-10 14:47:43 ( ID:wvmxylt2nt6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When using the merge & Cut function in tmpgenc 2.52 to cut a large mpeg2-stream tmpgenc freezes after a few seconds. Programm has to be killed with task manager. Problem occurs only under win xp pro, in win 2000 there is no problem.
Does anybody know anything about ?
thks, chris

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 14:48:41 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

try compatability mode.

make sure that the stream has no corrupted frames.

NewtronX  2002-04-10 16:45:13 ( ID:blvxpewgwwm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

yes be sure that your file doesnt contain any errors that I found caused me a lot of hedache the file would convert only to a point where the corrupt was then error out leaving a useless piece of junk. I wish the author of TMPGenc would add the ability for TMPGenc to fix these error spots. Hmm maybe in a future revision. ~NewtronX

verschenkt  2002-04-11 10:25:34 ( ID:wvmxylt2nt6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

File/stream is not defective. I cut the same stream under WIN2000 and it worked so it seems to be a WIN XP problem. I´m starting the same TMPGEnc.exe on my second hard disk while changing the hard disk physically (two OS) with a changing bracket. So video stream is on my second hard disk (e:) stored and the tmpgenc is stored on my second hard disk as well.
Any good ideas ?

Question - TE25 - TMPGEnc Plus Watermark No.18606
BrainSwell  2002-04-10 13:46:13 ( ID:rpswz3asgpc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I recently purchased TMPGEnc Plus. All my encoded movies have the little image (watermark?) in the upper right corner. I am refering to what looks like a logo or watermark which is a a graphic composes of 9 very small squares in a 3 x 3 grid. Does anyone else have these on their vidoes? Is this permanent? Should it be removed after installing the licensed version of TMPGEnc Plus 2.53?

Thanks,
BrainSwell

Dennis  Home )  2002-04-10 13:52:46 ( ID:gdoi5fzrbsw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Strange, uninstall it, download the version from http://www.pegasys-inc.com/
or go throught there link to download the proggy, then use your licens to register it, there should be no watermark if you have a registerd version, at least to my knowleg.

Regards Dennis

TMPGEnc and TMPGEnc Plus never make watermarks!

What you have got as source file already have that!!!

Ashy  2002-04-10 14:07:48 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Remove the Elecard MPEG2 codec from your system and use another MPEG2 codec. This is the reason why you are getting the watermark.

Question - TE25 - Jonno No.18604
Jonno  2002-04-10 13:34:49 ( ID:5d11mhsrkxr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am running "TMPG ENC" on an old Pentium Pro 180mhz. It seems to work ok, however it takes up to 6-7 Hours to convert AVI to VCD. Apart from upgrading to a faster PC, is there anything that I can do with this thing to speed up the process???

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 13:37:40 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

if it is a DIVX file:

goto settings > advanced tab.

double click on the source range filter

hit start frame and goto the end of the movie and hit end frame.

click ok

in the video tab, set the motion search precision to motion search estimate (fast)

This is all u can do

Question - TE25 - DivX to SVCD ? No.18600
Dennis  Home )  2002-04-10 12:10:22 ( ID:gdoi5fzrbsw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi.

I have something I want to know, I have read lot's of guides on howto do this to my question is this.

I download a DivX movie (640*360 with AC3 sound) extract the audio to an uncompressed WAV file. Now I have a DivX and Wav file, insert them into Tmpgenc, load up a SVCD template and change some small stuff.

Now if I hit encode, it takes lika 36h or something to complete and when it's done I have a file that is around 2Gb. Now how do I split this file, Is it possible to do in tmpgenc since I don't like bbmpg and how long does it take to split a file that big in tmpgenc ?

Regards Dennis

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 12:19:26 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

well, to reduce the encoding time:

click on settings. set the motion search estimate to fast. in the advanced tab, use the source filter. move to the first frame, hit start frame, move to the end of the file and hit last frame.

click on ok.

then encode.

now

the way to split it is to do it in half's!

nero uses time scale, not file size.

:)

Techno

Dennis  Home )  2002-04-10 13:56:51 ( ID:gdoi5fzrbsw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Oh so you think I should split the file using NERO ? can it do that fast or ?

I thought you had to ust BBmpg or tmpgenc to split a large file ?

Regards Dennis

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 14:57:35 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

no no no.

let's say a file is 3GB in size and lasts for 1 hour.

Nero will accept it because 74-80 mins is the capacity length of CD's. Nero does not care about file sizes when it comes to VCD's. it uses timescale.

How ever, if it is greater than 74/80 mins, then u have to split it. try using source range in TMPGENC.

Request - TE25 - Why can't Tmpgenc read VOB files ? No.18595
Dennis  Home )  2002-04-10 11:58:18 ( ID:gdoi5fzrbsw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi.

I would like to see Tmpgenc able to read VOB files directly instead of having to convert them or something.

If the VOB file is decrypted onto a harddrive why can't tmpgenc read them or are there some Copyright issues in the way or something ?

Regards Dennis

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 12:02:21 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It is not a good idea to encode vob's! There is a similar post in this page or the previous, read the reply. :)

DVD's are encrypted so this maybe one reason why TMPGENC will not open the files.

Techno

Aha I see, copyright mumbo jumbo probably... DUH...

Grrr, well anyway if you use DVD2AVI you can encode a vob file anyway to divx or whatever :) hehe

Thanks Techno, shouldn't you start working for Tmpgenc alliance ;)

Question - TE25 - Buffer Underflow No.18587
tim  2002-04-10 08:28:40 ( ID:2thlhlrhy3a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I get the error "###### s packets cause buffer underflow. The MPEG might cause error when it played." when I am using the MpegTools to multiplex the Mpeg file. Anyone knows what's teh cause and how to fix the problem? Appreciate inputs.

Thanks

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 10:07:57 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

well, it could mean that the frame inb ur video has corrupted frames/incorrect bitrate assigned to the frame.

Check the video for errors, using virtualdub (as long as the video is AVI or MPEG1) Use virtualdub v1.4.9 http://www.virtualdub.org

Open the video in virtualdub, goto edit and check stream for errors, or something similar to that.

Hope it helps

Techno

sherlock  2002-04-10 20:47:54 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I get this error to when trying to multi-plex,buffer underflow is caused by not enough bits to create the desired mpeg frames,as to how to fix it is hard to say but you can try increasing the buffer size, this hes worked with me on occation or you can try "cbr" mode were the bits are constant through the whole file......

B_Racer  2002-04-11 15:01:09 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Your Bitrate is too high for SVCD. Maximum for SVCD in TMPGEnc ist 2788 kbps for Audio + Video. Any higher Bitrate causes this Error.

Question - TE25 - Sound out of synch No.18580
Rck60s  2002-04-10 03:42:47 ( ID:xmskm5l1zim )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After I convert the DIVX5 to full uncompressed avi in virtual dub and then put it thru TMPGEnc to recompress to MPEG2the sound plays fine for about 4 minutes and then drops out...It then reappears a few minutes later starting from the exact spot it had dropped out from but totally out of synch with the film...What am I doing wrong...Techno if you have an answer please email me as this problem has caused me to create at least 4 coasters with very expensive blank dvd media

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 08:44:35 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My friend:

You did not need to uncompress the video in virtualdub.

u could have uninstalled DIVX 5 codec, installed v4.11 or v4.12 and then encoded it! :)

NOW:

try to do the above and this:

extract the audio in virtualdub as a wav and load in TMPGENC

make sure the audio sample rate it 44100hz in virtualdub.

If the audio is faster than the video, even after 44100hz conversion then increase the frame rate.

other wise, if the audio is slower than the video, then decrease the frame rate.

I hope it helps

Question - TE25 - cbr or vbr? No.18576
mjsla  2002-04-10 02:10:41 ( ID:lbmzvc69ysm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Should I encode via "cbr" or "vbr?"

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 08:42:09 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

depends on a few factors:

the quality of the original source and the file size u want it to be.

go for VBR if the quality is good on the original source.

Go for CBR if there are parts of the video which has some blocks. CBR is used for VCD if u haven't noticed :)

Techno

Dennis  Home )  2002-04-10 11:54:34 ( ID:gdoi5fzrbsw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hmm

I would suggest you use 2-pass VBR, CBR is good but I tried to encode a VOB (dvd) with that method and the results where the same compared to 2-pass vbr only that it took up half the space.

The thing with 2-pass VBR is to keep a hight bitrate average between 2000-2400 then there could be some blockyness on fast moving pictures but it's hard to see and the whole movie is good enought quality anyway.

The above is for SVCD, for VCD you don't need to care about anything, just load up the template for your needs, select maximum motion search quality and encode.

Regards Dennis

Question - TE25 - Image is blank - no sound, but encoding continues No.18569
tomnguyen  2002-04-09 23:06:55 ( ID:gaytl2s3qoa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to convert an AVI file over to a NTSC VCD MPEG-1 format. The original file is likely encoded in DIVX5 or DIVX4. I had originally Divx 3.11 Alpha installed on my machine, but was unable to 1.) play it in Medial Player, 2.) open it from TMPGEnc. However after installing DIVX5 I was able to play the video, but not able to encode it in TMPGEnc. There is a blank screen when I try to encode. However, I am able to encode older DIVX AVI files. Does TMPGEnc not support AVI that is encoded in DIVX5? Thanks in advance.

sherlock  2002-04-10 08:01:36 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

divx5 isn"t supported in "tmpgenc" you will have to re-encode to divx3 or4...

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 08:40:58 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

sherlock: correction:

uninstall DIVX 5, install DIVX v4.12 or 4.11 and tehn encode the DIVX 5 video in TMPGENC, u should get audio and video.

Just correcting you sherlock :)

I have a mpeg2 svcd compliant file, accept for the frame size,it is 352 by 480,will this be accepted by my dvd/svcd player and will nero accept it as compliant?????thanx for your help........

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 10:09:27 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

well, it should.

try to encode a small part first, then put it in the nero template, see if it accepts it, if not, then follow the errors it gives so u can specify the settings it gives u.
