Question - TE25 - MPEG2 fundamental streams No.17414
Albert  2002-03-27 22:47:37 ( ID:oufoo5bqgqr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can TMPGEnc encode AVI files into MPEG2 fundamental MPEG2 streams? What I want is instead of outputting .MPG files, I want to get .MPA (audio) and .MPV (video) files instead. This helps to save time when building the DVD project with Sonic DVDIt!.

Albert

sherlock  2002-03-28 01:06:45 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

what you can do is after you are done encodeing, try to "multi-plex" it,then you will be left with a video filr and a audio file...hope this is what you wanted?...

Albert  2002-03-28 01:19:47 ( ID:oufoo5bqgqr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You mean "de-multiplex". Can TMPGEnc do this by itself at the time of output? Because DVDIt! can take .MPA and .MPV files and it saves time if I used these files as input of the DVD project as opposed using .MPG files.

Question - TE25 - No sound, only video No.17406
hekne  2002-03-27 21:34:08 ( ID:r2xc2vdefgc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi everyone.

My problem occurs when I try to encode divx-files into mpeg-files. I've tried several couples of movies but I never get the sound. I've also tried to convert the sound in the divx-file into a wav-file and then used it as the audiosource, but it didn't work anyway. Am I just stupid and have forgot any important issue or has more then me the same problem?

Very grateful for some answer. Thanks.

jonnyrotten  2002-03-28 01:50:18 ( ID:izvs8xtjp7c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I also cannot get sound, dunno why I have tried both types of audio stream and am trying to convert a divx file, I am also running windows 2000, anyone have a fix?

hekne  2002-03-28 11:15:42 ( ID:r2xc2vdefgc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi again.

After some hard working I finally got the sound to work. Maybe this method can help u to jonnyrotten. I used the program VirtualDub to convert the sound into a wav-file and the simply used this one as the audiosource in TMPGenc. When converting sound with VirtualDub you had to do some settings that I wasn't familiar with. But the nice thing is that there's a really good site that tells everything of how to convert the sound right, aswell as the video.
http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm
Maybe someone can be helped with this method.

Chip Ling  2002-03-28 16:31:17 ( ID:3yxzcq5vqpo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have more or less the same problem.

I have two machines. I tried both machines with the same testing Div AVI file as the source and convert it to MPEG. One machine can get it with sound and the other cannot. I suspect I must have install some drivers in the working machine so that it is working fine while the other is not.

I got too many drivers installed on the working machine so I have no idea which driver helps to get the work done.

Need to have more tries before I can find an answer. I will post a message here if I can find the answer.

Rgds,
Chip

Now, there is a much simpler way.

Search the net for a program called "AVI2VCD" (Don´t have the URL handy). The Software itself is crap, but it comes with
a little tool called "decompress.exe". This single file is a neat little progi to convert the compressed AVI-Sound into PCM-Sound.

It´s fast and simple to use, give it a try...

TIM  2002-03-30 02:45:07 ( ID:ez6ru0p4vyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having the same problem with the avi's and I've tried both ways. I tried this 'decompress.exe' and I can't even get it to work. When I extracted the audio to *.wav with VirtualDub the audio came out great. The only problem was when I encoded the video with the new audio they are out of sync. I can't figure it out because I did everything exactly the way it said to at www.vcdhelp.com. Please help!!

Athlon Rulz  2002-04-16 21:18:51 ( ID:lh1udvptj1c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What does this mean "you can´t even get it to work"?

Just double click on decompress.exe and that´s it.

:-))

Reading through the licence agreement you are out of luck getting you money back. Im wondering why you didnt test TMPGEnc first with the free version...

Question - TE25 - Can TMPGEnc do a listof projects? No.17404
JBEST  2002-03-27 20:46:08 ( ID:llxn5ue6yim )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can TMPGEnc do a list of projects? For example, I want to leave my computer on in the middle of the night so it can convert a list of files. They are ,mov. I want TMPGEnc to convert one and once its done to do the next file. Is that possible?

jpsabo  2002-03-28 00:00:42 ( ID:cosg728adko )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Fairly simple. Just select your video and audio source, specify the output file name and load a template. Then do a "File" -> "Save Project" and save the project file. Repeat this procedure for as many files that you want to convert (if the template stays the same, you just need to change input and output). When you are ready to begin processing, do a "File" -> "New Project" to clear everything, then do a "File" -> "Batch Encode" and use the "Add" button to add the project files to the popup. Hit "Run" and everything will be processed automatically.

Have u tried to extract the sound to a wave file? Or have u set the directshow filter to a higher priority?

Techno

mark_lybarger  2002-03-27 20:31:00 ( ID:/8ib7sjefkn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

the sound is in a wav file. i'm using a .d2v and w.av file output from DVD2AVI. I tried increasing the priority, but am still getting the same error. i'm using kde as my desktop if that makes a difference.

sherlock  2002-03-28 01:04:34 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

make sure you have the plugin for d2v.files....

mark_lybarger  2002-03-28 02:48:19 ( ID:/8ib7sjefkn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i believe i have the plug in. it works fine when booted to windows. the plug in i believe is "DVD2AVI Project File Reader 1.76". I have this set as a priority of 1 in the VFAPI plug-in area.

M.Bastian  2002-03-28 07:51:18 ( ID:vljrcsq3gdr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have the same problem under Debian Linux 3.0b

I didnt have time yet to look into it but I read somewhere that once created you cant move around the files needed for your .d2v project. If you have created the project under Windows and then booted into linux trying to load it into TMPgenc it wont work if you have not the same pathes (eg d: in Win and g: in wine.conf). Dont know if this is true.
What I want to try when I can spare an hour(ha!) is to create the DVD2AVI project directly under linux and see what happens.

Btw. Did you made an speed test of TMPgenc under Win and then Linux/Wine? I have dedicated Win and Linux Boxes and comparing the encoding speed on an AMD 1700+(winXP) vs an dual 750 PIII(linux) isnt very objective(AMD is 16% faster .. but wait until I get my 1100 PIII's :-)

cheers

M.Bastian

mark_lybarger  2002-03-28 13:43:47 ( ID:/8ib7sjefkn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

is tmpgenc and dvd2avi scriptable? if you have a bash script you can send for these, it would be very usefull (once i git it all working and all :) ).

i tried using dvd2avi under wine to create the wav and d2v files. this seemed to go about as fast as under win98. couldn't really put numbers on it though. that worked fine. then i tried to create the mpg file using tmpgenc under wine. i'm still getting the ACM error.

M.Bastian  2002-03-28 14:13:09 ( ID:vljrcsq3gdr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

As far as I know you can't script it. We have to wait for TMPGEnc Server.

Question - TE25 - converting divx files with tmpgenc No.17392
chris  2002-03-27 18:23:01 ( ID:skyobey0hzn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had a question about encoding a couple of divx files that I downloaded?

I am trying to burn the lord of the rings and monsters inc onto a vcd
when I go to encode it after uncompressing the audio to a wav file using vitrual dub I set that as the audio sorce and the actual divx movie as the video scorce
then I start to encode it but it does not do any of the video only the sound
I wondered if any one could help me with this problem.
thanks

Are you using a templete? If so you may be using the wrong temp.(IE-Ntsc,PAL)

Also make sure before you load audio/video goto file then select new then yes.

Update your video drivers... I had the same problems, with a nvidia Geforce II MX400, windows XP. I installed the latest Detonator XP/2000 drivers and everythings ok now. (www.nvidia.com)

Hope this help!

mhoepfl  2002-03-28 10:04:59 ( ID:mi0jlrmlscj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

you need to install the DivX Codecs (3.x, 4.x, etc) and/or this Nimo Codec pack in order to convert video.

Bug report - TE25 - Merge problem No.17391
johntse  2002-03-27 17:14:59 ( ID:indcct0rqyg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I convert the movie to VCD or SVCD. If I merge two mpg files, I will get a playback problem. Sometimes, there is a beep sound at the point, or sometimes video and audio do not synchronize. And I found, if I set the end point at least 2 seconds before the (Last) point when I merge the files, everything is OK.

I use version 2.53.35.130 in Windows2000. My movie is ".MOV" file, taken by SANYO DSC-MZ1 digital camera. Video code is photo-JPEG or Motion-JPEG 640x480 15fps(or 320x240 30fps), and audio code is 7990sample/s 8bit PCM. I install PICVIDEO (a directshow MJPEG codec from pictools.com), and I use SCMPX audio convertor.

Question - TE25 - a few questions... No.17388
newbie  2002-03-27 16:23:29 ( ID:emu.cjptsoh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

(Mostly I'm encoding downloaded encodings of various types to NTSC VCD.)

Frame rate:
Is it correct that an NTSC VCD player should handle either of the NTSC
frame rates? Do I just pick the one closest to my source rate?
Also, my source rate is not always obvious (via Windows properties).

Video source type & Source aspect ratio:
How do I tell when encoding things downloaded off the internet?
Windows properties will tell me the AR for AVI but not MPEG.

Why can't TMPGEnc figure these three things out for me?
Is there another tool that will tell me these?

Video arrange Method:
What is the difference between "Full screen (keep aspect ratio)"
and "Full screen (keep aspect ratio 2)"?

The greyed-out numbers "320 x 240" seem incorrect. Can I just
ignore them?

Inverse telecine & 3:2 pull down:
I understand what these do, but not when to set them.
If my frame rate needs converting, but I don't set one of these,
will it not be converted? As in the result will run too fast
or slow? Or is some other form of frame rate conversion done?
Am I essentially telling TMPEnc the source frame rate with this
setting? Again, why doesn't TMPGEnc set this for me based on
the source and my desired output frame rate?

What do I do with an odd source frame rate like 20?

Ghost reduction & Noise reduction:
When would I use these? (What types of sources?)

Thanks,
tc

NTSC:

29.97

nope, TMPGENC does not load the settings automatically.

I don't know of any tool which will tell u the settings of the video

Do not use soften black noise as it blurs the image alot giving it bad quality!

ghost reduction, use the when the file/image contains alot of ghosts!

the full screen ratio 2 is making the video go offscreen on ur PC monitor, dunno about standalone DVD player

an odd source:

extract the audio to a seprate file, change the vid to a frame rate of ur desire, then add the audio, hopfully it will not cause any a/v out of synch. if so, lower the frame rate.

Don't know about anything else

Question - TE25 - Pentiun III vs XP1900+ Source File Error No.17383
Larry_C  2002-03-27 13:22:54 ( ID:g2ylsvwsrv2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am occasionally using TMPGEnc ver 2.53.35.130 to remove high bitrate "spikes" in mpeg2 (3.0 MHz VBR, 720x480, 29.97 FPS 48,000 Hz audio) captures which can interfere with subsequent DVD video generation. This process worked well on my Pentium III 1.0 gHz system, but when I try to load the same video source file on my AMD XP1900+ system, I get the message "File xxx cannot open, or unsupported". I have tried to use the identical settings on both systems with no success. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Larry_C

R  2002-03-27 14:33:45 ( ID:d4a5wuxiwpr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPGEnc does not have ANY own codec to decode!
If you install exactly same codecs under same OS, they should show same symptom.
(Sometime, some files can be read fortunately though).

Question - TE25 - Converting Multiple Files No.17380
Querier  2002-03-27 10:37:12 ( ID:ddes50zcspw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am currently using this program to convert my .avi's to .mpg so that i can burn them on VCD format. The problem is i have to come back every time after one finishes so i can start encoding the other one. Is there a way that i can make a list of some sort so that a queue can be created and so i can leave it for the whole day and it will encode on after the other automatically? That would be much faster and more convinient. Thankyou

RX  2002-03-27 10:55:19 ( ID:rq73n1voqvj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Batch encode.

NeWcS  2002-03-27 18:31:26 ( ID:s00.avcw8/f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes you can!!!!

Load your video/audio and setup your settings/templete. Then instead of hitting start goto file, then save project. save it.

Now goto 'Batch Encode' and load the project files you just saved. When your done loading um hit run!!!!

Thats it.

-Hope this helps
