Trying to Merge/Cut SVCD in TMPGEnc(v2.53) hangs the box when trying to enter end time. Does anyone know of any solutions? Does TMPGEnc Plus fix the problem?
I don't think, your System really hangs. After the Count-Up of the filesize, it takes a very long time until the file is written completely - the drive is accessed all the time.
I noticed that it takes a lot longer, when you don't keep the Window selected or have a screensaver activated.
On my system it takes about 10 minutes without any display-change until the file is written, when I cut about 800MB from a file.
I have recently run into a problem I have never seen before. For some reason a recent avi file I downloaded when trying to encode it to mpg the result is upside down????? I cannot for the life of me figure out why?? Anyone have a clue as to why it would encode the avi upside down when converting to mpg??
yeah using xp.. I think I may have found a way to fix it though.. did a preview and it looks like its working now. What I had to do was install the Xvid Codacs and OggDS filters. Will update tommorrow when encode is done.
I'm using the latest version of tmpgenc (2.53, also tried 2.51), and I'm having problems with the mpg2s that I create. Using bitrateviewer, I'm seeing spikes at the end of my mpg on about 40% of my encoded files. I'm using the wizard's template for 8000 CBR, NTSC. Screenshot here: http://home.austin.rr.com/coady/bitrate.gif
the only way I can get good encodes is to trim the spike off the mpg (cut the last second or so). But this makes encoding a large number of AVIs a lot of work...
Thanks for any help!!!!
matt
Maybe the spike isn't the fault of TMPG. Have you checked your original AVI's to see if the spike exists there. Maybe there is a fault with your AVI encoding process.
Using TMPGenc 2.5, on the SettingQuantize Matrix tabbed dialog, there is a selection named "Use floating point DCT" - at least that's what it says on my desktop. However, on my laptop it says "Use floating point DCT (while using SSE, always ON) and the check box has a partially grayed-out tick in it.
The answer is due to the use of the mutimedia enhancements you are using on your PC.
If you are using an MMX enabled PC with SSE instructions sets then this is why you will get the "Use floating point DCT (while using SSE, always ON)" with a greyed out ticked box.
The reason why it is greyed out with a tick is because you currently have SSE enabled within TMPG and will be enabled by default when using SSE, if you goto Option>Enviromental settings and click the CPU tab you will see that SSE is ticked.
On your desktop where you see the "Use floating point DCT" only then you should find SSE isn't ticked or isn't selectable.
It is advisable to ensure that any MMX and SSE enhancements are ticked as this will improve encoding speed.
this is usualy a easy one to fix, first go to "options" then "enviromental settings" then to "vfapi plugins" in this window lower the"avi.compatability reader"and the "avi.file reader" to "zero" and raise the "direct show " to "two",the load your avi. files in tmpgenc this trick works allmost always, good luck.....
ok maybe some oen can tell me what i am doing wrok. i'm using the 2.53 version and load teh template for VCD but the output file has a lot of purple bloches. what do i need to get the purple blotches to go away and get a better out put. i've check the orignal file and it has no blotching, so what am i doing wrong?
this problem is sometimes caused by the "angel potion codec" if you have it get rid of it and try a different codec like maybe "nimo codec"..if this doesnt work you can try to clean it up in the color settings, but try the first one ...
found the nimo codec and uninstall the angel potion and installed nimo but still the same problem. lot of purple blotches.
but thanks for the sugestions!
well i took your advice you gave to someone else and it worked for me! by making changes to the evirmeal setting it claered teh problemb by moving directshow up in piority! thnks!
the p3p package optimizes tmpgenc for pentium 3,for some reason you are haveing problems with it,one thing you can try is to un-check all the boxes on the "cpu" page under "enviromental settings"(eg;mmx,mmx2,ect),then load the files in tmpgenc,if this doesn"t work try re-installing tmpgenc in yer system...hope this helps?....
1. You have not downloaded files correctly
or
2. You have not unziped files correctly
or
3. Your WinZIP or other Unzip program is too old to unzip.
or
4. All /some of above
Hi guy"s,I was wondering if anyone knows were to get or how to make extra templates,my dvd player can play vcd"s/mpeg1 at up to 5000kbs,and I want a template that can make high bitrate vcd"s(xvcd)..I have used c.c.e.to make mpeg1/vcd"s and they turn out as good as svcd"s and sometimes better and it seems that mpeg1 encodeing is much faster than mpeg2,but I can"t use tmpgenc for this without the templates...so can anyone please help? thanx.....
Can a add a subtitlefile with TMPGEnc?
Now I have to first add the subtitle to the avifile with virtualdub and then run TMPGEnc to convert the file to mpg.
It would have been nice to add the subtitle at the same time as converting it.
Is there anybody who knows about a subtitlefilter or some other plugin that works with TMPGEnc?
While encoding a AVI file to MPEG1 it goes black at a certain point in the conversion every time. It is about 4 1/2 minutes in on the timecode. The original file is good and I have recreated the original in case there was a problem with it and the same result. I have tried 2 different template settings. Any help?
I think you reach a limit in the file size of 4 GB at 4½ minut encoding. Try to cut your original movie into smaller parts each not exceeding 4 minutes. Encode each part and after encoding join the parts with the TMPGENC tool box.
In the Plus Version is a new type of 2-pass encoding. When i use the old type 2-pass, i get exactly the calculated filesize from the wizzard. Using the new type 2-pass the filesize is much smaller. It's fine, so i can use a higher average samplerate. But how can i calculate the bitrate i must use to get a final filesize nearly the capacity of the cdr (90min.)?
you can download a bunch of different "bitrate calculators" in the tools section at www.vcdhelp.com,I don"t use them so I cant tell you witch one is better....
