Hello,
I have been using TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5 for a number of years and have decided it's time I upgraded. I am considering upgrading to TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 but I have quite a few projects in version 1.5 that I would still like to use as I have created menus, custom buttons etc.
The question is will I be able to import these projects into version 4 or will I have to start again from scratch.
Does anyone know what causes 'Stream Reading Error (Error Code 0X80068001)'. It seems to happen right at the end of a chapter (not part way through). The files I am using are WMV. I have tried using XPRess4 to convert the WMV to a DVD file first and then use that in the BD project and the error still comes up. The only way round it was to import the BD file from the aborted output, insert chapters etc etc and start again and it works.
Having real problems whilst burning to DVD in TMPGenc 4. It's been spitting out more coasters than I no what to do with.... please help!!
- I'm using Infiniti 360 +rw 8x Dual Layer Discs
- the dvd files are only 7.5 gig so plenty of space on these discs
- I have burned them at a variety of speeds
- It comes up with an error at the same point each time. 15 mins in to the burn about 50% of the way through.
Could this be due to some error when burning the second layer? How do I resolve it? I've got some Verbatim Discs coming tomorrow in the hope that that may sort the problem.
Actually, the best Verbatim's are the +DL, not -DL. Also, if the burning module still doesn't work, you can use IMGBurn which is a freeware to burn your dvds.
Hello. I too had failures when trying to burn to Verbatim DVD+R DL. But the solution turned out to be checking the burner's Write Speed spec, which for my burner is 4x and only 4x, not the 2.4x that I was trying to burn at. Sometimes a slower burn is not better.
I've had the program for about 4 weeks now. All of sudden, while trying to output to blu ray, the authoring gets to around 4% (writing 1st track) and i get the error message that the program has stopped working and windows must shut down. I uninstalled the program, re-installed, started a different project with different files, and got the same message after it was 4% into the authoring process again.
Please help me. I really like the software and i am very frustrated right now. I used a backup software to output to blu ray and had no problem during the authoring process. The files i am using are 720p with framrate of 59.97.
Not sure why this is happening after 4 weeks into the software.
Loving this software, but 2 questions have come to mind.
1) How do you do easter eggs. I know how to make a link invisible, but I don't want the easter egg to play when I play all in a track. I want the easter egg as a seperate item on the track. Any way to do this?
2) Is there a way to make dvd's that are anamorphically wide screen?
1) You'll have to make a separate track for your easter egg. Tracks are the only thing that can return to the main menu after it's done playing. Thus, your easter egg will have to appear on your top menu.
2) I believe that they are anamorphic widescreen by default provided your source material is widescreen.
TAW4 doesn't see any DVD drives. When trying to build and burn the movie it says there are no usable drives. There're the same drives (DVD burners) it used before. weird
recently bought the program TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress. As we know, somehow contained therein is mpeg2 codec (if I may say) very good. Well, but when it comes to encoding H.264 (MainConcept) is bad for me. At least compared to the x264. I bought this program with a view to having one machine to compress the various formaty.Kompresuję footage from the DVD (Family Movies) settings:
Source material: Interlace, Bottom Field First Pixel Pal 4:3 12:11
Codec settings.
Profile: High Level: Automatic
Size: 720x576
Aspect ratio: 12:11 Pixel
Framerate: 25 fps Progressive (Why can not I encode interlaced?)
2 Pass VBR
3000 kb / s
Video system: Automatic
CABAC coding
The rest is default settings
Compressing the same material as the x264 codec (Megui) at the same settings, the picture is super. Almost there is no material difference in terms of original Nina. I will mention again that once other material encoding in Adobe Media Encoder CS4 also using h264 codec and of the quality I was not too enthused. And he probably has the same codec as TMPGEnc.
So how do you think? Do you have the same feelings? Or maybe I set something wrong? How to encode your video so that does not differ too much from the originals?
You're doing it completely wrong. You are using TMPGEnc's H263 MPEG4 ASP profile which is similar to Divx. You need to use the H264 MPEG4 AVC profile and you'll see a big quality increase. Mainconcepts MPEG4 codec is not as refined as x264 but it's not too far off.
TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 doesn't show the video in cut/edit mode but can hear the audio. But when in TMPGEnc 4.0 XPres cut/edit mode the video and audio is there. Wonder what's up? I don't have quicktime which is reported by both programs. Quicktime was removed when I uninstalled itunes 9 the other day. Could the uninstall of itunes caused a problem?
Anyone know the correct settings to encode the best video possible? I film in HD, then downconvert but I want to encode so that the video fills the entire HDTV screen if played on an HDTV. Also, I don't want the video to be presented in widescreen If the video is being played on a standard tube TV, I want there to be little black on top and bottom. Thanks!
How exactly do you want this to work?
Do you want widescreen video on an HD tv, and then have the sides chopped off on a 4:3 tv?
Or do you want a stretched image on a 4:3 tv? If you want to avoid the letterboxing on a 4:3 display, you'll have to do one or the other.
Is there a way to do a very simple menu? I have a movie with 1 track consisting of 24 chapters. I want a single top menu or Title page, that has the title of the movie and a Press Play button. I don't want any chapters menu(s) at all. I can't seem to find a way to do this. I tried the Custom option in the Menu Wizard but it does not have a "No Track Menu" option. If I select No Menu then there is no menu at all, not even a Title Page.
Does anyone know of a trick I can use to create the simple menu I want if there is way?
Thanks
You must have missed it because the option is definitely in there. It's the page right after you choose your layouts, about the 3rd page into the custom menu wizard.
I tried that Top Menu Only, but I still end up with two menus, a Title page and a Page 1. I don't see any way to eliminate one of them so I end up with just one menu with a Play button. The ideal situation would be just the Title Page only, but I don't see a Delete anywhere to get rid of that second page.
You can't delete the top/track menu, so you'll have to choose not to have the title page.
If you want the top menu to look like the title page, you can hide the track thumbnails, or whatever you don't want to appear in the Global Menu Settings.
I am new to this forum. I am using the trial version of this software. I have tried several time to convert a video and when it's done, the video file is no where to be found.
Is there a reason for this. Is it the trial version.
Double check where you're saving the file to in the output screen and check that directory. If it's actually going through the output process, the file has to be somewhere on your computer.
