Question - TE25 - Encoding stops every time No.42143
Fabiola  2004-08-10 20:50:40 ( ID:pekfbkkxe7h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Every time I try to encode an avi-file for DVD (both NTSC and PAL) the program and computer hangs after 1 or 2% of encoding. Only one movie had good luck in being encoded.
I tried several settings from tutorials and it doesn't seem to work.
What can be the problem, or what am I doing wrong.

Fabiola

susi59  2004-08-10 15:45:15 ( ID:ceso8j9ek8a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hallo,
the problem is, that I have captured in the ati vcr-Codec.
The file player shows it, but I can't open it in TMPGEnc 3.0 or 2.5.

Have anyone an idea ?

That is why you don't use the ATI .vcr Codec. It is not supported by anyone else except ATI.

I have not seen or heard of anything that will convert it for you.

Mike

You can convert Ati vcr -files to mp2-files adding them (drag and drop) to Ati Library, right-clicking it, and choosing conversion.
Unfortunately, all vcr-files won't be added to Library, at least for me...

Mp2- (also known as m2v-) files can be edited or converted to desired format (for example) by FlasKMPEG.

You should record in mpeg4, mpeg1, or mpeg2 format, in that order of preference. Those are easily usable.

Bug report - TE30 - TMPGENc 3.0 Xpress crash No.53256
JonnyB  2004-08-09 07:47:56 ( ID:aohirwmoxlf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Quite often when encoding Xvid to MPEG2 ... TMPGENc Xpress dies (application closes) with no errors ? This happens intermittently, sometimes the encode completes and sometimes the application dies (encoding the same file). I can't find anything relevant in the WinXP Event viewer.
Anyone know what could cause this ?

TIA

Use AVIsynth to frame serve the file to TMPG.

Question - TE30 - XDVD - multiple movies on 1 DVD No.53254
Ben  2004-08-08 17:50:07 ( ID:fgdpiospeqg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to figure out how to put 3 movies onto 1 DVD+R using the XDVD feature in TMPGEnc Express. Has anyone used this yet? If so, how is the image quality, and do you know if it would be compatable with my Sony DVP-NS575P Precision Drive 3 DVD player? It claims that you can put 10 hours of video on 1 DVD. I would like to put all 3 lord of the rings movies together. Thanks!!!

B_Racer  2004-08-18 09:35:23 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just one Suggestion: Forget it! XDVD is non standard and very big GOPs can cause a lot of Problems with some Players.

Use standard Half-D1 to put your Movies onto the DVD. Any Player is able to play this format.

Hi Guy's

I have a four hour movie recorded on a DVD RAM disk by a Panasonic DVD Recorder, which I am trying to convert to DVD-R.

TMPG Author reads the file OK but says it is only 1 Hr 50 minutes long.

Any advice please ?

Many thanks

Question - TE25 - Playblack Problems No.42135
someguy  2004-08-08 10:23:11 ( ID:wqddwn13yt2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have burned several episodes on a dvd, and it seems everytime I always get errors playing the last episode. But, it's not just that particular episode, if I burned a completely different set of episodes, then the last one would still be having problems. All the other ones play fine. They are all originally .avis but I encoded them with TMPG, then used TMPG DVD Author to output them into a folder than use Nero to burn. I have no idea what could be the problem, I was thinking maybe to encode them using the Highest Quality, I'm using Normal right now, but I'm not sure if the encoding is the problem, and don't want to waste the extra time encoding and waste a disc.

ashy  2004-08-08 13:39:42 ( ID:ebk75kkhqif )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hang on..more details are required...what exactly is the problem?
Are you experiencing this problem with the actual MPEGs on your Hard drive or do the problems only occur after burning to DVD.

It sounds to me liky you are simply using cheapo disks.

someguy  2004-08-08 21:58:15 ( ID:wqddwn13yt2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It seems the last thing to play on the disc always ends up buggy. Just to experiment, I put several copies of the same episode on a disc, they all play fine except for the last one. I'm using TDK DVD+R discs.

ashy  2004-08-10 06:39:26 ( ID:w6xzb3hs.w. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TDK are usually pretty good disks, but you may simply have a bad batch.
The problem you have is usually symptomatic of cheap disks, where errors usually appear at the vey end of the disk.
Deos this problem happen on the DVD player only or on the PC also?

Try burning at a lower speed. If that doesn't work change your burning program, I recomend NERO for DVD's.

If you still get no joy then I would go out and buy some RITEK GO4's. These disks are just about the best and most compatible you can get.
If these don't work then it likely your burner or DVD player is at fault.
Which burner and player do you have?

Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering if there was any way I can make my own frames for the thumbnail images. So far I have found no program that makes *.tme files. Any help would be appreciated.

Came across this little "How To"

(This should not be a HTML tag, you will have to
paste it into your browser to get to the article)

I use Gimp2 (which is free) instead of Photoshop.

Question - TE25 - tmpgenc on a second computer No.42133
vlad  2004-08-07 21:03:09 ( ID:gbmo6gfk6g2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i have tmpgenc 2.5 plus on my main computer. is it permissable to put it on my laptop as well? if so, how?

thanks

Sakuya  2004-08-08 01:50:39 ( ID:bicct./jmp. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You have the EXE file right? Or was it ZIP? I think you can burn that ZIP/EXE file to a CD-RW data disc and then install it onto your laptop. It should work.

Question - TE25 - VRO to MPEG" No.42127
Pat  2004-08-07 19:47:42 ( ID:horc1ts4fkg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would like to use TMPGEnc to achieve the following:-

Convert DVD RAM disks made on a Panasonic DVD Recorder to DVD-r and AVI files.

I have aquired a trail version of the program to try it out but when I try to open a 4hr VOR file I get the following message:-

File cannot be open or un-supported.

However, I have seen a collegue do this, is there some other software I need to install as well ??

Many thanks for your help

ashy  2004-08-07 20:51:48 ( ID:ebk75kkhqif )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

By the way VRO files are already MPEG2 format and don't really need re-encoding.
TMPG DVD Author should accept VRO files directly for DVD burning.

Pat  2004-08-07 20:57:17 ( ID:horc1ts4fkg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for replying - TMPG Author only detects the file as 1Hr and 50 Mins when it is 4Hrs

Pat  2004-08-08 17:05:43 ( ID:horc1ts4fkg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

VRO File now read as Video Source but not as Audio Source

Anyone any answers please

ashy  2004-08-08 17:49:41 ( ID:bt44bnm9pnr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try using DVD2AVI to convert the audio to a wav.
