I bought Nero 7 ultra edition. I was able to edit video and burn it to DVD with no problem. As soon as I downloaded the newest program versions all of the video is out of sync with the audio. (example: the lips move then 1 second later the words come out.)
I called nero and they suggested re-coding the files using tmpgenc. Will this help? I never had to use an encoder before so, be gentle :)

I converted with TMPG an AVI-file to MPG and the MPG-File has a size of 3,46 GB.
I burnt the MPG-file on a DVD and played it on a DVD-player.
Approximately after 30 min the playing is terminated, but the video has a length of 90 min.
My idea is that the MPG-file is too big and I should not create MPG-files with more than 2 GB.
Is TMPG able to create an output of several 2-GB-files?
Hi Mountain,
A MPG-File of 3,46 GB should not be a problem. What program are you using to format the VOB files (author your DVD) and burn the DVD? (I am assuming that you did convert the MPG file to VOB files with DVD authoring software. If you didn't that is the problem)
i've downloaded a bunch of "public domain mpeg cartoons" and trying to burn them to dvd. after trial and error i've found they have dolby digital sound tracks so when i tried to do authoring with roxio dvd builder but i got no sound, i downloaded your TMPGEncDVDAuthor16 and same problem but at least it said i need to get the ac3 plugin, well that does not work with the trial version. WHY won't a mpeg pre-incoded with dolby digitl play sound in author16??? i can understand having to buy the DD ac3 if i want to in-code my own video with DD. so is there some sort of converter that can convert mpeg with dolby to mpeg with mpeg1 audio???? or is there another plug-in (codec - i've tried the AC3 open source codec but that does not seem to work with you product) to use with author16 for dolby digital mpeg files. these mpeg videos all play fine using wmp9 on the computer.
i was thinking of buying author16, was really nice to use and priced right. but alot of the public domain mpeg (lots of old westerns) seem to be in-coded with dolby digital and the ac3 plugin seem over priced
or any other suggestion you have to get around this problem.
The file I avi I want to encode is from a TV broadcast. The frame rate for the file is 23 fps. This is the same frame rate that the NTSC Film says it will encode.
Isn't NTSC Film the standard for Motion pictures and not Television broadcast?
Should I encode in NTSC format instead? This is for a VCD.
Hi Darkhawk.
Sorry for taking so long to answer your question. I haven't been here in quite some time.
Yes, NTSC Film is the standard for Motion pictures and not Television broadcast. Load the "VideoCD (NTSC).mcf" format from the templates directory. It should be fine. I have never had a problem with it.
I hope that is of help to you.
I really like using the TMPGEnc MPEG Tools (found in File menu). However it only can do one task at a time. I was wondering if we can request for a batch queue. So we can set up more than 1 (eg. 5 simple multiplex) in a batch queue then start all.
That would be better.
TMPGEnc is the best MPEG1/2 encoder in the world!!
PS: is there a difference between TMPGEnc and TPMPGEnc and TMPEGEnc? I've seen these 3 names mentioned all the time in various places.
I've just tried for the third or fourth time to get the latest version of DVD Author Pro to burn DVDs. I've been using DVD Author Pro since the trial version was first released without any problems. If I uninstall this latest version and re-install the previous version, it all works again. Is anyone else having the same problem?
I've got an AMD XP3200+ in an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo (nForce2 u400), 2 x 512Mb PC3200 DDR from Crucial, 1 x Western Digital 200Gb IDE (8Mb cache), 2 x Western Digital SATA, Leadtek Gf4 TI4200, a Liteon DVD ROM (SOHD-16P9S), a LG DVD-RW (GSA-4163B), WinXP Home (SP2). Everything is up to date.
Glad I'm not the only one! let's hope Tsunami pull their fingers out and release an upgrade that works for us. (If only the guys at Videoredo would write an authoring package . . . !)
Hi SuperFly, yeah, I always try to keep at least the last working version of downloaded software. Same as you, reverted to the earlier version and I can burn again. I just wish they'd speed up the updates! :)
I have downloaded and installed TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0 Ver. 2.1.7.88 Retail Version, entered my License Serial Number from the PRO version. After the validation, I have erased and burnd a DVD; everything was working fine. Author 2.0 is the new name of Author PRO.
BeTa, you beat me to it! I was just going to post the same thing here - my newly downloaded & installed DVD Author 2 (which, according to the website is exactly the same as DVD Author Pro) is now burning disks quite happily.
I need u to provide me with ur TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0 Ver. 2.1.7.88 Retail Version registration info. I am having problems and i live in a country in which Pegasys does not exist. Actually i was gifted it by my aunt. So i need ur help by provideing me with ur registration name, key and e-mail. so that i can use the software.
hello all, have a big problem i hope you can help me with.
I have xvid avi. I have no problems loading it however the file size goes up 3 times. I have read that you need to increase the directshow filter. I did that and it corrected the problem of the file size.
Now i have a problem that the final result is jittery. So i went back and reset the enviroment and the result was a long file that was not jummpy. It seems that when the directshow filter is raised to 1 then TMPengc wants to change it from a film to video.
This is driving me crazy! Right now either i get a long file that is unusable or a jumpy one. Can you please help!
I process large batches at night using TMPGEnc Plus 2.521. Sometimes these batches fail during the night. I need the encode log to be emailed to me everytime it saves the encode log to file automatically. Other programs have this feature but it doesn't appear to be in Tsunami. That leaves me with the option to learn Windows scripting to try and auto-generate emails or paying someone for their programming expertise. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
What I have read thus far on the problem of extracting VBR audio from AVI, converting that audio, recombining it with the video, and burning a working DVD that will actually play in a DVD player and display on my TV, is very vague at best.
Can someone direct me to a comprehensive howto manual?
