Question - TE30 - Trial Version Licence Aquisition No.53230
Bertie  2004-07-14 14:39:29 ( ID:q.cajwtn5bo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've just loaded the trial version on a new Dell PC running Windows XP Home - Every time I try to aquire a licence it tells me that my serial number has been cancelled. I'm concerned about paying for the full version, if I can't get the trial to work at all!

Sam Martin  2004-07-30 16:45:57 ( ID:zhcxx50m3zc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I too ran into this problem. Are you installing the program to the default directory? When I tried to install TMPGEnc to a different directory, I received an error message when I tried to activate the program. But when I uninstalled it, and re-ran the installer without changing anything during the setup, it worked fine.

A friend of mine is also having the same problem as you. I don't know how to fix it.

Maxxxeee  2004-07-14 07:10:42 ( ID:gdrmvaj9os. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

I keep getting the error

"an error occured during the filter chain reconstruction. Refer to the details below to find which part failed.
Write error occurred at address 014BA09D of module resize.vme with 000000

this happens when I try to open a SVCD MPG file I go to "set source and then to "add file" I select the MPG file and click on open and then it starts doing something and after about 15-30 mins (file is about 700MB) it comes back and gives me the message.

It never use to do it with other mpg svcd files that I downloaded a month ago.

I can play the video no problem with power dvd or windvd 6.0

I have alots of memory 256 MB 10 gigs of HD space and my drive is NTFS and the machine is a P4-3.0 Ghtz\n

any ideas on what is wrong ?>????

thanks for any input...

Maxxxeee

I'm getting the same exact error. The program worked flawlessly the first several times. nNow it does this every time.

JoeCHecht  2004-07-13 17:05:34 ( ID:24phymk8wv. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If I start a project on laptop "A", using a removable firewire or USB drive, then try to use laptop "B" to further edit the project, or encode the project, I get the following errors:

(jpg file contining error messages is located at:)

www.hecht-haus.net/TMPGEncError.jpg

The drive letter for the removable drive are the same on both laptops.

This is crazy! I am starting to believe that the project file created on one computer cannot be edited (or encoded) on another computer! Is this true? Both computers have licensed versions of the product.

Also, I have tried renaming the AVI file on the removable drive, in hopes that TEMPGEnc would ask me to find it, and then be happy, however, it then looses all the editing cut points.

I have also noticed that there is no option to save the the new TEMPGEnc file format in a text format. This was a really cool feature in the 2.x versions, and allowed us to do some pretty cool edits. Wish that was possible in the 3.x version.

Question - TE30 - 3.0 looses capability to encode frameserved XVid files? No.53223
Uxbridge  2004-07-12 09:17:25 ( ID:crgtcln3ok6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello
I hope someone can help me. I usually encode video captured through a PCTV card using the frameserver feature in Vdub. That means AVI is captured using Vdub and Xvid, edited later in Vdub, frameserved to TMGEnc who then creates mpeg2 file. This process works great with 2.5, but the new 3.0 refuses to encode the file. The file gets recognized indeed but an error occurs when actual encoding starts. The 2.5 version I am using is a registerd one, while the 3.0 is the trial one.
TMPgenc support just told me they do not guarantee frameserver applications.
Has anybody gone through this problem already?

Thanks

Is there no merge function in tmpeg xpress 3 anymore like in tmpeg v2.5 ?
It could save alot time with unnessecary recoding.

Question - TE25 - Improving Audio? No.41944
Sakuya  2004-07-12 07:53:47 ( ID:lzt2hooc9jk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an AVI where the audio is really bad. The source was like this too. The sound is really muffled. Is there any way to make it better? Here are the specs of the audio in terms of GSpot:

Codec: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
Bitrate: 137 kb/s (68/ch, stereo) CBR
Fs: 48000 Hz

And I have another question about converting the video to MPEG-2 for DVD. The resolution is: 608x464 (1.31:1) [~13:10]

It is definitely supposed to be full screen. Should I use VAM Center, Full Screen, or Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio)? I really don't understand which to use in cases like these.

Sakuya  2004-07-13 05:15:27 ( ID:lzt2hooc9jk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe I should've asked at the Videohelp.com forums for the audio issue since it has no relation to TMPGEnc. But for some reason, Videohelp.com won't load for me (both of my computers) and yet it loads for other people. I'm wondering if my IP address got blocked by them or what but I don't remember doing anything bad at their forums. :(

Question - TE30 - TMPGEnc 2.5 x 3.0 XPress No.53221
Jacques Caixeta  2004-07-11 05:45:36 ( ID:qktp5iy7j3a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

For the experts out there that have experienced both versions.

Is the new Xpress version better, i.e. in terms of quality and speed? I'm happy with 2.5 and short of cash.

B_Racer  2004-07-12 10:18:32 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

XP3 is a bit faster (not much), and the B-Frame-Bug is corrected (this can be done in TMPGEnc 2.5x also).

If you are happy with 2.5x, stay at this version (like i do).

Question - TE25 - Compression (Settings) No.41939
Darklotusegg  2004-07-11 00:28:39 ( ID:wwfmtwaik8c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My knowledge of TMPGenc is very very basic and so basically I will just load up a file and then convert it usually altering no settings at all. So my question is this, what settings should I edit to reduce the file size of an mpeg file (whilst still retaining decent audio and visual quality) and where are those settings located? If anyone has any advice about compressing the file as another format (although Im hoping only to work with mpegs and avi's) in other programs instead then that will be appreciated too.

Thanks

What's the playtime of the Source-Movie? It's filesize doesn't matter...

ashy  2004-07-11 13:24:22 ( ID:omzfvsp0rt6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What do you mean it 8 hours to encode it?
You mean you already converted it, so what did you encode it to?

Question - TE25 - Jerky,skipping,stuttering Picture No.41933
Electric Soul  2004-07-08 16:35:40 ( ID:sibzjgw9ik2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello

I have converted tons of DV material already but now I have a serious problem.

The source has lots of fast motion in it, and when I convert the source to mpeg2(doesn't matter which format) the picture is kind of jumpy, jerky and stuttering.

CCE is able to convert the DV source correctly, but I need the filters so I have to use Tmpgenc. Maybe I should try AVISynth

It looks like Tmpgenc removes to many information so fast movements are not smooth anymore.

Following settings:

DC component precision = 10
Motion search precision = Very Slow
Field order = Tried both
Filters = Deinterlace
Use floating point DCT = Tried both
Detects scene changes = On

B_Racer  2004-07-09 13:26:35 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Don't do any deinterlacing!
Field order is bff (TMPGEnc > 12a)

BobMcNobby  2004-08-09 12:16:15 ( ID:hdwe0ne2rzn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I also have this problem with some Avi's and DivX's where it jitters every second or half second.. i have only used TMPGenc simply to convert avi>dvd or divx>dvd and have no experience in setting any other parameters... it mostly does what i ask it.. but i would dearly love to get rid of the jitter
