Question - TE25 - block patterns thru out my mpegs No.36252
killjoy  2003-04-13 17:28:17 ( ID:9iu50vc3czh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

why does all my mpegs after running tmpg get blocky?

Minion  2003-04-13 23:04:37 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Blockyness is a Sure sign that the Bitrate is Much too low, if you are doing Standard VCD"s then you will usually get Blockyness cuz the VCD standard uses a Really low bitrate...Also if you use the Resize to increase the Resolution too much this can cause Blockyness and so will low quality source files. The "Remove Block Niose" setting can help a Bit but increaseing the Bitrate is the only real was to eliminate the Blockyness...

Using TMPGEnc to decode DVD file " VOB"

The decoders

Free Nimo Codec Pack
Remember when you install the Nimo Codec Pack you need install ' Full'.
http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html

Or you can try this one DVD Decoder Pack For Windows XP It good but you have to pay it.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/windowsxp/buypacks.aspx
OR you can dowload it from kazaa share user.
search DVD Decoder

Minion  2003-04-13 05:02:30 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Tmpgenc was allways able to decode VOB files But "ONLY" the Video unless the audio isn"t AC3 and "ONLY" with the Specific Mpeg2 decoders that are supported By Tmpgenc which are the "Ligos Decoders"(In Nemo codec Pack) or the "Cyberlink" decoders (With Power DVD)..The Chances of decodeing AC3 with Tmpgenc buy just installing Nemo is very Minimal to Nill, especially with Dolby 5.1, I have had very Minimal success with 2 chanell AC3...

>Simple way to Decode DVD file VOB?

I don't think so.

As Minion says TMPG doesn't natively support decoding of AC3 audio in VOBS and even if you do manage to decode the audio in the VOB which would be a hit and miss affair, you will have no control over the tracks you can select.

Also if you were lucky enough to decode the right audio track, TMPG will not decode VOBs with audio as sequential files which means you would have to encode each VOB seperately and then join the resulting files together at a risk of sync probs and artifacts where the join is.

SO the 'Simple way to Decode DVD file VOB?'. My advice is stick to DVD2AVI people which is proven to be the most reliable, best quality and fastest way to decode VOBS.

Hm, maybe the good old Smartripper is a good choice. It can do a complete Demultiplexing (Stream Processing) of all the Streams on a DVD.

And to decode the Videopart or if only a VOB and no DVD to decode... as Ashy said, there's no better Program than DVD2AVI.

bestgoat  2003-04-19 19:47:45 ( ID:sbezb30us6n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I use dvd2avi, and it decodes the vob files, AND creates a wav file from the audio, so as long as you can get the video encoded to Mpeg, which is my problem, you dont need to have the video unless you plan on keeping it on your computer. Use the original wav file from dvd2avi for you audio in final encode

Question - TE25 - invalid pointer operation No.36246
sjhc1177  2003-04-12 21:23:22 ( ID:r.o1gyof2bc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello.

I'm trying to covert Xvid movies downloaded to DVD or Svcd but I keep getting error messages. I use Virtual dub to split them into 2 and then use TmpgEnc. I've tried just making one DVD or 2 SVcd. The DVD using the standard setting's and skipping VirualDub. Or Svcd using cq65, 480x480 and 1800-4000.

Any suggestions. I've even tried downloading the Xvid codec...

Question - TE25 - get rid of hidden tmpgenc files after deleting demo and installing full version No.36244
fivestar238  2003-04-12 16:44:16 ( ID:euhmkdghlvj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I downloaded a demo of tmpgenc which expired, I then deleted the demo and installed a full version of tmpgenc, but the full version must be corrupted by hidden files because the full version has not worked properly (always freezes in the process of encoding). Can anyone tell me what I can do to make it work properly

Minion  2003-04-12 21:23:44 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The Demo doesn"t Have ANY Hidden Files, what you download is all there is, it does add certain Registry entries But this doesn"t effect how the Program runs..Your Problem is Probably more related to The Files you are encodeing and the settings used as opposed to remnant files from the demo....

Question - TE25 - MPEG cutting program No.36242
Ashy  2003-04-12 16:00:42 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I thought I would share this alternative to TMPG for people having problems cutting and joining their files.
This program has a visual display, an accurate cut setting and is easy to use and can join as well as cut MPEGs.

Here is also a freeware Mpeg2 editor Based on DVD2AVI, it only Cut"s Mpeg2 files and doesn"t join them but it is pretty fast and it is free, still have a couple bugs But it is worth a Try, it is called "Mpeg2Cut" and you can get it here: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/mpeg2cut.html

I would like to know how to subtitle a movie using TMPGEnc

Minion  2003-04-12 21:31:40 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Tmpgenc does not Do the Subtitles, you need to use something like Virtual Dub with the Subtitle Plugin and you need to have the Subtitle file, then you frame serve your AVI file with the Subtitles to Tmpgenc which will encode the File to Mpeg with the Subtitles...

rodrigotr  2003-04-15 22:35:36 ( ID:oft4xrdavjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

if you have ffdshow in your computer, leave the name of video file and subtitle file the same (namevideofile = namesubtitlefile). after that, use TMPGEnc, and converts divx to mpeg. then you split the file 2 equal parts, using DVtool.exe.
and you use VCDEasy to record the disc.

What's wrong with using TMPG to do the cutting?

Question - TE25 - .avi to DVD No.36236
Max  2003-04-12 02:45:20 ( ID:9tjvibsr/uo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What's the answer?
TMPGEnc converts my avi to mpg ok, but how do I make this into a playable DVD that I can play. I burned the mpg file on a standard CD but of course the DVD player won't play it. Can anyone direct me to some info?

Minion  2003-04-12 08:48:38 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are you wanting to Make a VCD/SVCD on a CD-R or a DVD on a DVD-/+R?? if your opting for the DVD then you need a DVD Authoring Program to add Menu"s and Chapters then Finally format the Mpeg file into a Video-TS Folder and then burnt to a DVD-/+R..You can not just Burn the Mpeg to a disk and Have it play, the Mpeg"s have to be formated so the DVD Player can read the Files..Go here "http://www.dvdrhelp.com/" and you will find many ways of doing this, some Easy but usually with Pay for it software or some more complicated but with Freeware(Mostly)....

Request - TE25 - problem with subtitles and fluent mpeg files No.36235
Docq  2003-04-11 20:36:58 ( ID:q6srlg5vl/g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I want to add subtitles. Either I put directshow to the highest priority (1) and the rest to 0 and it works, but the mpeg file shows no fluent movie. If I lower the priority of direct show the movie becomes normal again, but the subtitles don't show.

Does anyone have a solution?

Question - TE25 - Resulting size is nowhere near estimated No.36231
Barrie  2003-04-11 16:35:53 ( ID:zvcflshclp2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello
My problem is that I am trying to squeeze a 90 min video onto a VCD, I opt for a PAL vcd format in the tmpgenc wizard and then set some custom options like audio bitrate of 112 and video bitrate (CBR) of around 1000 .. tmpgenc predicts the size of the file to be 727MB which seems ok.. but when I actually encode the thing I always seem to end up with a file of around 840MB which is too big and since it takes 2 hours to encode just to find out its too big (which ive tried about 3 times already) its gettting kinda infuriating :( .. just as a check I got hold of a stream bitrate viewer thingy .. which reads the mpeg1 stream and gives the average bitrate which appears to be around 1049 .. which should be OK .. but the filesize is too big.
I'm just a bit confused as to why my filesize is so big and would appreciate any help since its really starting to bug me ...
thanx in advance
Barrie

Ashy  2003-04-11 17:04:23 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You probably need to change the stream setting to 'MPEG1 VCD(non standard)'
Run your MPEG through the simple multiplexer with this setting. The padding will be removed and the file size should decrease.

Thanx Ashy..
I think youre right, I had a dig through some previous posts on this bbs , and I think I ran into one of your previous posts that said to change the System settings for the project, so i started reincoding about an hour ago.. and judging buy the file size it looks like its going well (unfortunately I didnt wait for your post, I coulda saved some time)
once again thanx very very much.

sssb  2003-04-11 15:28:15 ( ID:xfnbnw.xscj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am running tmpgenc 2.510 on XP and have been using it for > 6 months

I now cannot open it. When I run the exe file, it generates an XP error report.

I have had some problems recently with codecs for xvid and ac3.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times but no succcess. My processor is an Athlon XP1800 and I have 512 ram.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

Steve, London

hi, I dont know if this will help but you can goto the command prompt in win XP, (RUN->CMD) and type in SFC /SCANNOW , this has the effect of replacing any corrupted or damaged system files , youll prob need your XP CD for this. It may be that tmpgenc is trying to use some damaged dll file or something.
hope it helps ..

Question - TE25 - MOV to MPEG - Picture breaking up No.36224
David  Home )  2003-04-11 13:10:34 ( ID:zsvsj8s7lrk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to video encoding etc.

I've got a really nice animation I downloaded from the net called "Covert". It's in MOV format and I'd like to convert it to MPG.

However when I try and convert it the resulting MPG's picture breaks during playback. I was wondering if it is actually possible or not.

I've uploaded the MOV to my website at:-

http://www.davidbratton.co.uk/funstuff/funstuff.htm

Some of you may have seen in the UK on Channel 4 last year.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge could have a go for me? Or give me an idea of what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

David.

Are you useing the "Mov Plugin" for Tmpgenc??? You need the Plugin or you can"t encode Mov to mpeg with Tmpgenc...

David  2003-04-13 10:39:57 ( ID:zsvsj8s7lrk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, I've got the plugin.

When I try to convert the MOV file the resulting MPG file's picture breaks up during play back.

Minion  2003-04-13 22:58:27 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well I guess you can allways try converting the Mov to AVI then the avi to Mpeg, OR You can use AVISynth to Frame serve the Mov file to Tmpgenc or another encoder, Just remember when useing AVISynth for Mov files you have to use "DirectShow Source" and you have to include the Framerate in the Script..
