Im using DVD2AVI to demux AC3 from VOB files. After this a delay value is in the AC3-Filename. My question is now, is it this value that I have to enter in the "Audio Gap Correct" field in the "Source Range" settings? I tried but I think the sound is still out of synch. Then I tried to enter the negative delay value and results seemed to be better, but I'm not quite sure. Does anybody know exactly, if I have to enter the "original" value or the negated value? I tested only with a sound file with a delay of -88ms (stated by DVD2AVI) so the difference is not easily noticeable.
SmartRipper also outputs these DELAY values in the filename. Are these the same or are they inverted? Didn't have a chance to verify this.
Answer me a question why are you extracting the Ac3 if you are only going to encode it to mp2 in TMPG, this seems pointless to me.
Save yourself the hassle of messing with audio gap settings and just decode the VOB to a wav file and use that in TMPG.
I demux the AC3 from the VOBs because I want to convert it with Azid to WAV. I know that DVD2AVI can convert AC3 to WAV itself, but I have better results using Azid. And it's also faster than DVD2AVI's own AC3 -> WAV conversion. The resulting WAV is then used as Audio source for TMPGEnc.
You seem to be doing things a very long way round when there are much simpler methods.
Anyway once you have created a wav from the AC3 you shouldn't need to alter gap settings.
If u want to try a much simpler way and probably faster than your method. This is the fastest method I have used anyway and produces the best quality as I find DVD2AVI produces audio which is to quiet and needs to be amplified.
Using this method the audio doesn't need any more fine tuning.
Do a search on google for a program called VOB2AUDIO. If you need some info on how to use the program then go here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/pinoy2201sdvdrippinguide.htm
I upgraded to Windows XP and downloaded TmpgEnc Encoder, put the vfapi files in the same folder and ran (tmpgencvfp_install). It can't even see the files i've made using dvd2avi in d2v format.. Help, I've done what your web site told me to do, anything else?
I just encountered the same problem in XP after moving the ripped files from one directory to another. Just as a thought, I re-ripped the files and everything was ok. It must have been the moving of files that confused things. Hope this helps...
Easy solution Matt. Just copy this file DVD2AVI.vfp from your DVD2AVI folder into the same folder as your TMPGenc.exe and your d2v files should be supported again.
Another point to anyone else, DONT move or delete any of the vob files or the d2v file until you have finished encoding or it won't work.
Ive been trying to encode The Lord Of the Rings Screener! Cd1 worked fine! But i can get the other 3 parts to work audio wise! Its all glichy and cuts off all the way through the cd!! Does anyone know how i could fix this?
I had the same problem then I realized that i deleated the vob files after I made the d2v file, then I found out that tmpgenc uses the vob files to make the mpeg1/2 files, and keep the d2v and the vob"s in the same place.,and make sure you have the dvd2avi plugin in the enviromental settings of tmpgenc...hope this helps?...
ps:try changeing the priority of the vfapi plugins.eg:dvd2avi,
Hi! Guys:
Is there any one ever import a m2v file generated by TMPGEnc working probally in DVD studio pro in Mac?
I can import my m2v file to DVD studio pro, but I can not set a marker.
I can only play it from the beginning.
I think there must be a setting I don't know; setup for the output of mpeg2.
I am having a similar problem with this program as many of the people in this BBS. I am using the latest version os TMPGEnc. Whenever I try to encode an AVI into an MPG, it says "cannot open or is unsupported". I tried to used divx codec 4.12 and no luck. Then I downloaded 3.11 and no luck.
Can someone please help me?? Or give me a link to another codec?? I hear v5 doesn't work with this.
under Options>Task Priority.... I have set them both to highest also and it still isn't working. I'm using a 1.1 GHz Athlon with a 32 MB GF2. I don't get why its not working.
TMPGenc rocks for DIVX encoding. :o) Hay question do you know when the author is going to fix the display problem with AVI output selection buttons for Video and Audio codec selection? They barely show up in XP I can just see the outer edge which is enough to click on any way. Which settings do choose when you make your DIVX movie for video and MP3? ~best regards NewtronX
Nevermind about the P3Package error, I got that fixed. All I did is i went into the options menu in TMPGEnc and I unchecked everything under the CPU column, so all you other guys that had the same problem try that. I am however having problems getting my nero to recognize the encoded movie as NTSC. I have tried everything today but still couldn't figure it out. Someone pleeeeeez help! thanx
ps for Techno, I'm running windows millenium and i have a pentium 3

I have no idea when Mr.Hori is going to fix this problem/if he is aware of the problem. Tried using compatability mode?
I do capturing and I then convert to MPEG2, encode a few times then to DIVX 3.11alpha fast motion 6000 bitrate. Now, people say u lose quality, well, the way I do doesn't!
But I got probs with TMPGENC and opening MPEG2 files.
I solved it but if I encode an AVI > MPEG2 and open the MPEG2 file then encode then open the MPEG2 file I just encoded, it won't open it! So I am trying to solve this problem. I hope Mr.Hori/pegasys can solve this problem.
>fix the display problem with AVI output selection buttons for Video and Audio codec selection? They barely show up in XP I can just see the outer edge
Try the recommended minimum screen resolution which when used with
a small font will show every button available.

Up until last night using TMPGEnc at normal quality it was taking me about 48 minutes to encode 45mins of film , since last night though every one that i have tried has taken almost 2 hours for 45 mins of film, I'm pretty sure that i have not changed any of the settings so has anyone any idea why i would get this sudden slow down
i have 576 Ram 12gb free h/d space and its a 1.6ghz ,
I disabled the preview in the hope that it would go back to the speeds that i had until last night but it doesn't seem to have helped any as i have just tried another 45 mins and its looking at taking 1hr 42 mins to do
(living in hope it will go back to the speeds of before last night :) )
I stopped the uploads and encoded 53 minutes of film in 22 minutes so it seems that i can download without a problem whilst encoding yet cannot upload without trebling the time it takes
I continue to get "cannot open or unsupported" error message when trying to convert a .avi file to an MPEG. I tried to set the priority higher as was suggested to another user. I set it to 50 and still get the same message. So far I have only been able to create a VCD from .mpg files. Can anyone help?
I would like advise with this too, I have a file that opens in version 2.53 but encodes with no picture, just sound, but put the same file in older version of tmpgenc and it will not accept file at all. I have all the correct codecs installed
what I do is turn your "direct show" to "2" and every thing else to "0" especialy the "avi.compatibility reader" and "avi.progect file reader" If this don"t work I don"t know what to say.....good luck
