Download i tfrom the website, reload it then register it on the registration pull down. That will reactivate it. Sometimes it remebers because your registry still has the key with the serial number.

i have a dvd screener that i downloaded. in one part on the movie the video hangs and the audio continues to play. so now when i try to encode it the video hanging up keeps it from encoding the rest of the video. any way i can fix this or at least cut that little section out of the avi file?

ocj  2003-03-03 22:25:59 ( ID:h/v5gmnayao )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You should try to split the video with virtualdub by selecting stream copy for video source.

Or just select the SOURCE RANGE when encoding with tmpgenc you should encode it up to the damaged area and then start right after that part with the second encode.

virtualdub is easier though

Question - TE25 - Forced GOP start No.35059
CrocoStimpy  2003-03-03 13:59:33 ( ID:etpvvzygod2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am editing a movie and I need to force a few GOP headers where the chapters are going to start. Any thoughts?

Specifically, can I leave "Detect scene change" on while I also add manual GOP headers? Will they work together?

I want it to do most of them, and I will add the ones that correspond to chapter start positions.

Question - TE25 - AVI to MPG perfect (except no sound :O( ) No.35055
joby  2003-03-03 13:32:21 ( ID:/vbx65w.pik )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When changing an AVI to MPG to burn on to VCD, it does it perfectly, apart from the fact it misses out the sound.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Minion  2003-03-04 01:30:59 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You probably need to extract the audio from the AVI file to a WAV file then use the WAV file as the audio source..The audio was Probably AC3 and Tmpgenc has Problems with AC3 so you can extract it with something like "AVI_Mux"...

sexy-leroy  2003-03-04 09:43:09 ( ID:jrsc6ue7ck2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had the same problem and used VirtualDub to extract the audio from the .avi.
Then I used the .avi and the .wav to create the .mpg file.
The result of this was that all of a sudden the audio and the video were completely out of sync. I have tried it several times and also with different .avi files. I get the same result everytime...

Any idea?

Minion  2003-03-04 20:14:26 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try useing AVI-Mux to extract the audio from the AVI file...

Minion  2003-03-04 01:32:59 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Since I don"t read German I can"t tell you how to fix the error But You can try De-Muxing the audio from the Mpeg and useing something else to Change the sample Rate like "Headac3he"...

Question - TE25 - Help with aspect ratios No.35051
kukm66  2003-03-03 08:06:54 ( ID:iurdrqhdypg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an XVID Divx, 640 x 256(2.5 to 1) at 23.976 fps.

What should I set the aspect ratio to for this film? It will be kept
at wide screen format. Should I unlock and manually set these to the above
resolution?

Why is the default always set at 1:1 when loading files?
Isn't this for showing on a computer?

There are other settings for 4:3, 16:9, 2.11:1 towards the bottom of the
drop down window. Are these for something special?

Minion  2003-03-03 08:29:17 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

1:1 is not the Default Aspect Ratio it is Probably the aspect ratio of the File you are loading into it...Tmpgenc analizes the source file for the aspect ratio and set"s it accordingly.it isn"t allways right though..do a Few Test encodes of a few seconds to see what one looks the way you want it to, But don"t use Media Player to view the Mpeg file cuz it doesn"t play the file with the correct aspect ratio...

Question - TE25 - codecs intstalled, but do not appear in env. settings No.35042
chad  2003-03-03 03:10:45 ( ID:6omlo7bcvag )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

got a black screen trying to go from divx to mpeg, and then downloaded the codecs for divx, but they do not appear in environmental settings.

will the raising the direct show up to 2 detect these codecs?

or am i totally lost :)

Minion  2003-03-03 03:17:23 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Codecs Do NOT appear in the Enviromental settings, only VFAPI Plugins do, and Yes raiseing the Direct Show to "2" Can help Tmpgenc connect to the Codecs you have installed so tmpgenc can decode the File..

chad  2003-03-03 05:29:34 ( ID:6omlo7bcvag )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

thanks much :)

maybe a little more help...

no sound and have already used a wav file for the movie with veedub.

what next?

Minion  2003-03-03 08:25:27 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well first Make sure that there is audio in the WAV file..and if there is then Just load in the Wav file then go to the Audio settings and there you can listen to see if tmpgenc is reading the audio, if it does you just have to encode it to Mpeg audio and Mux it with the Video you allready have encoded, but if for some reason tmpgenc still can"t read the wav audio go to the "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the Wav file readers priority and see if that helps, and if for some reason that doesn"t work then use a different program to encode the audio to Mpeg audio like Headac3he.....

Question - TE25 - XP Service PAck 1 & Ligos Codec Issues No.35037
Greg  2003-03-03 03:04:50 ( ID:ui/5v08mc2f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just did a fresh install of Windows XP from a 98SE OS. I can no longer load avi files, get the old unsupported messages. I have raised the direct show and DVD2AVI priorities with no results. I noticed that XP Service Pack 1 retail version OS no longer includes the Ligos codec, my previous OS had this codec, and I see it is no longer installed in TMPG. Could this be the reason why my AVI's aren't loading?

I see you now have to buy the Ligos codec, I don't want to make the investment if it's not going to solve the issue. Hey do you think it's extractable from my old 98SE disk?

Greg

Minion  2003-03-03 03:14:29 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you installed all the proper Codecs so Tmpgenc can decode the AVI files???and Don"t install Media Player 9, this will cause Problems like this..And the Ligos Mpeg2 decoder is Free..I"m sure ALL of you Problems will be solved if you install a Codec Pack like Nemo or Tsunami and Both of these Codec Packs have the Ligos Decoder and NO the Ligos Decoder has Nothing to do with AVI Files it Just decodes Mpeg2 files..

greg  2003-03-03 17:32:17 ( ID:5vci0ij4ha6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Do I just install the codecs to Windows program files or do I need to install them into TMPG. IF I need to install to TMPG is there any special method I need to use or just install them to the main TMPG folder in a fashion similar to the VFAVI file (dvd2avi.vfp)

I will also try unistalling Media Player 9. Do you know why there are conflicts between these two applications?

G.B.

gbagman37  2003-03-04 04:34:37 ( ID:gfs3fzybyzl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I keep hearing about problems with Windows Media Player9.0. I have had it since almost day one. Most of my friends have had problems with it because they needed to update their video display drivers or they have not upgraded Direct X to 9.0 also.

Minion  2003-03-04 09:23:01 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been in contact with someone from the Windows Update Web site and he said that there is a Problem with WMP9 and some older Mpeg-4 codecs and there will be a Fix for it on the Windows update web site some time in the near future...And No you don"t install the Codecs in Tmpgenc you have to install them in your Computer, Download a Codec Pack like Nemo or Tsunami and you will have Most of the codecs you will ever need and you will have the Ligos Mpeg2 decoder...

Question - TE25 - How Do You Set The Movie Width And Height? No.35034
jimmyhardcore  Home )  2003-03-02 21:30:43 ( ID:cun7pso8rgw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So I'm trying to simply convert an AVI I made with Quicktime Pro to mpeg and it of course told me I need to set the window height and width to 8x8 or a multiple thereof. Fine. Says something similar here on the FAQ. Now how would I go about doing this? Can't find the option....

ocj  2003-03-02 22:06:01 ( ID:h/v5gmnayao )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

With Tmpgenc you should usually use the project wizard since you don't seem to have a lot of knowledge about this.

If you want though without the project wizard click on the SETTINGS of the file and I usually use a 352X240 setting and never have any problems for VCD this is the usual setting tmpgenc assigns when using the project wizard.

Make sure if you have to clip/crop the movie make sure you use KEEP ASPECT RATIO from the pull down menu because a lot of people and myself have made the mistake of using full screen and this usually makes the aspect ratio mess up.

It will usually make the people in the movie look tall/stretched LOL.

hope this helps

jimmyhardcore  Home )  2003-03-02 22:44:41 ( ID:cun7pso8rgw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Damn, I'm too anti-wizard for my own good. Went back and tried it and it went through fine, thanks for the info! I sifted through the settings and couldn't understand a thing, guess I have some learning to do...

Question - TE25 - Another sound problem... No.35033
Monte-Cristo  2003-03-02 20:03:17 ( ID:ssmowfnaotm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I downloaded a movie. When I try to make a VCD with TMPGEnc, I have no sound. Then, I make a WAV file with VirtualDub. There is a delay of 5-6 seconds between sound and image. I tried various things and, still no synchro. Anybody has any ideas, please ?
