Any idea why when I preview a Divx source file I don't get any sound? Will I get sound in the final encode?

If you load the movie with VirualDubMod you can see, doing Stream --> Stream list, the audio stream of the file. But if you cannot hear it, it either is missing or you need a proper sound decoder for it.
Maybe, if there's one, if you Demux and convert it to .MP2 using BeSweet + BeSweet GUI, you can hear it (if BeSweet provides you a proper decoder by himself. I don't know. I can even hear the .AC3 Dolby Surround sound).

Adobe Premier supports AVI type 2 files for editting without rendering first, but for AVI type 1 the timeline must be rendered first before editting. Does Xpress support conversion to AVI Type 2? I couldn't find any option to select a Type 2 AVI format and the only AVI option available that Premier was able to load in had to be rendered. If Xpress can do this I'd likely buy it as I own DVD Author and am happy with its abilities? Anybody know the answer to this?

JACKET_P folder and DVD-text creation. TMPGEnc can be used to create JACKET_P folder for DVD, but it is not very easy to do. For those people that don't know what these are, follow this link...

I want to author in Tmpgenc DVD Author but burn with multiple burners with Nero 6 Burning Rom. Do I use DVD-Video or the DVD-ROM UDF/ISO? Is DVD-Author still creating noncompliant files. I have the most recent upgrade.

Answering my own question for the record: DVD-ROM UDF/ISO with force DVD-Video compatability. Using multiple burners is a nice Nero feature. Don't quite understand the compliance issue with DVD-Author.

If I am currently encoding an Mpeg, can I do other things on the computer at the same time without it messing up the encode?

your encode won't mess up, it'll just take longer to encode. multiple tasks can be real slow if your cpu is slow.

What application do I need to resize down my mpeg files so I can use them on a web page in a small size format?

Try using WinMX and search for things like How to fit a movie on a cd r or KVCD for beginners. Thats where i found out. You can email me at passionfruit49@hotmail.com if you are desperate.

Please help. What should I do if the error message GPO is too long? The TMPGEnc cannot convert the mpeg file again. If I ignore the error message, I cannot get the output :-(

I downloaded the trial version of TMPGEnc Express 3.0, and frankly I was APPALLED by the quality of the picture after spending 2 hours transcoding a video clip recorded by Media Center 2005! I have transcoded a lot of movies from MPEG2 to DivX/XviD in the past and have NEVER seen quality this bad, even if squeezing the file size down to 3-400MB for a movie. If this is the quality that the purchased product puts out, then I am VERY happy that I did not buy this product!

I am also experimenting with TMPGEnc Express with dvr-ms files. I absolutely love their cut/edit system for getting rid of commercials, but I find the DiVX support creates an aweful looking file.

Does anyone know of the proper settings to use for the DiVX support? I've played around with tons of different settings (using the 5.2.1 DiVX Pro codec) and nothing seems to really help. TMPGEnc will only do one pass, and it looks really bad. I've tried all the different presets within the codec.

I convert a VCD to mpeg format(vcd .dat)using vcdGear and then TMPGEnc to make clips(edit)so that I can watch the same on a Palm PDA.For this I use VirtualDub to convert to xvid.But there is no audio nor on the PC orpalm!
Think this has something to do with the audio format.After converting the audio format is"44hz stereo,224kbps,layer II".But no sound on PC. thanks

I have down loaded the program onto a new Gateway Computer.
I thnik I have the necessary support programs in place but can't get
this program to run.

My thoughts on using it are simple, I already have a movie recorded
to DVD. I simply want the re-record it but this time take advantage of
this programs ability to change a widescreen version to full screen, those black bars on the top and bottom of the screen drive me crazy.

Can anyone help? This seems like a great program if I could just get it to work I'd probably buy it!
