I have a avi file that is currently 30fps...i want to know do i encode it using 30fps or 29.97...will it still work in my dvd player if i use 30fps? I only say that it is 30fps as that is what comes up on the bottom of the screen in tmp when i load it in before choosing a template. I tried to use virtual dub to get the info on the file but it wasn't able to load it in there. Another question is..when i want the picture to be full screen i keep reading i should use full screen (keep aspect ratio)...but that does not always work...i have to use just full screen then clip picture is this normal or should the other setting work. I am trying to use the best setting to keep from getting cone head.
Yes you Should encode it as a 30fps file If you use the 29.9fps setting you will have Jumpy playback...Useing "FullScreen Keep aspect ratio" should work fine But you should allways check how it looks Before you encode the whole file...
Hey guys I haven't fully tested it out yet but I want to say a big 'thanks' to you! You said we would have to buy version 3.0 for segmented AVI support but here it is!! Segmented AVI support in TMPGEnc, no more Virtual Dub or clunky avisynth for me!
And I *really* appreciate it.. I've been waiting for this for a long time you have just made my life so much easier.. Thank you again!
This program splits mpegs fast and easy: http://www.mediawaresolutions.com/MyFlix.html
It's 50 bucks but well worth it...check it out!
You can download a limited trial version. I think
you'll find it'll do the job real well.

Can somebody tell me why tmpgenc gives me an error evry time I try to convert any kind of file to mpg??? Coz this problem is really annoying and there's no site that explains this problem can anyone help me? thx
I had converted a mov-file into a avi-file, and my plan was to convert the
avi-file into a mpeg-file with the tmpgenc 2.59.
But he doesn't work with this file (with other avi-files what besides original
not a mov-file was, I had no problems).
Anyway, when the avi-file is maded with the mov-into-avi-converter I can play it with the quicktime-player as a avi-file (because it has the extension *.avi) so it is a good avi-file if you ask me, but it is strange that I hear a irritating noise while I'm playing it.
I first had some Probs with my DivX AVI (Errors and no Sound) but I read some articles here and so I found away around (using VirtualDub for sound and disabled SSE --> no errors).
Now I tried to make a SVCD... the AVI was too big so i splitted in two halfes... I used the *.avi file for the movie and the *.wav file for sound... for the 1st SVCD everything worked fine, but the other one is a bit wrong... the sound comes a few seconds (i guess 5 or 10) to early... so the video doesn't fit the sound...
What should I do?! Why does it work with the 1st CD but doesn't work with the second?! Is there an option where i can use a delay for the sound?!
Some1 HELP, PLEAAASEEEE... ;o)
I am having this sound problem too. I am using virtualdub also to change the audio into wav format then using tmpgenc to convert then into a mpg format. In Tmpgenc I am loading the avi video and the wav audio then splitting into two but the second disk's sound is a second or two before the video. What am I doing wrong or how do I correct this.
I have win. XP & 98. The same version that is compatible with both of them is
working fing on 98,but dosn't display a video (on XP) while converting from AVI to MPEG and after the convertion, obviously playes jast an audio.
Thanks ahead, Al.
Aha... 2 versions install and non install. While this may be a good idea for the numpties who don't know how to extract files from compressed archives, I do hope both versions will continue to be made available instead of just the installer in the future.
What is it with TMPG and new versions?!
Every time a new version gets introduced something gets broken.
I have discovered that the Ac3 filter which I used with TMPG now doesn't work as of version 2.57 and I don't seem to be able to find one which does.
Has anyone managed to find an Ac3 filter which works with the new versions?
Well it could be because you are converting the sample rate to 48khz.
TMPG does not have the best sample rate converter around.
Try and use Virtualdub to convert the samplerate to a 48khz wav and make sure you check the 'high quality' box.
When done check the length of the audio compared to the original audio length. If they are the same you should be ok.
