I've converted loads of AVI's to MPEG (mostly 23.976 or 25 fps). When I try to convert a NTSC movie (I keep it NTSC), the audio in the converted file is always out of sync. I work always with separate AVI's and WAV audio files (ripped them with VirtualDub). 23.976 or 25 fps movies will never give this problem. Do you have suggestions?
I had this problem what is happening is while you are converting the video to pal the sound is still in ntsc to fix this do the following :-
in vetual dub set audio to full processing mode then goto file and save as wav
this will save the sound uncompressed
then get besweet and the besweet gui
set input file filename.wav and output file to filename.mp2
set it to ntsc to pal (for more info on this got to http://doom9.org/)
then load avi as Video Source mp2 as Audio Source in tmpgenc.
He isn"t Converting from Pal to Ntsc or Ntsc to pal he is just saying that he only has sync problems with 29.9fps NTSC Files but not with 23.9FPS or 25FPS Pal files...
Please, this is urgent, we are producing a 800 x 608 mpeg2. It is possible to produce it with Final Cut Pro 3 and it's possible to view it with WinDVD4. But the main problem now is that i have separate audio and video files, and i want to "introduce" the audio into the mpeg2 video files. How the hell can I do it? it would be possible with tmpgenc BUT 800x600 RESOLUTION is not allowed!!!! Help, please!!!!
You just need to use the "Multiplex" in the Mpeg tools..Go to "file" to "mpeg tools" to "Simple Multiplex" load in your audio and your video file and click Run" then it will merge the audio to the video..Remember the audio has to be "Mp2"..
Sorry But I beg to differ,, i had this problem what is happening is while you are converting the video to pal the sound is still in ntsc to fix this do the following :-
in vetual dub set audio to full processing mode then goto file and save as wav
this will save the sound uncompressed
then get besweet and the besweet gui
set input file filename.wav and output file to filename.mp2
set it to ntsc to pal (for more info on this got to http://doom9.org/)
then load avi as Video Source mp2 as Audio Source in tmpgenc.
Tmpgenc is trying to tell you something!!!Why encode the audio??it is allready in the correct format for VCD..So go to "File" to "Mpeg Tools" to "Simple De-multiplex" load in your Mpeg2 file then click "Run" it will seperate the audio from the video, then you just encode the video to mpeg1 then use the "Mpeg tools "Simple-multiplex" to join the audio from the mpeg2 with the video from the mpeg1...Tmpgenc does not like to encode compressed audio formats and Mpeg audio is a Very compressed format..You would probably have to extract the audio to a wav file if you were encodeing an AVI file...
I've exactly the same problem.
write error occurred at address...of module 'TMPGENC.EXE' with ...
the numbers are different, but it always pops up at 99% (avi 2 mpeg/SVCD).
I tried different VFAPI plugs (AVI2/Direct Show) and it did't make a difference.
Though the converted video seems to be o.k.,nero complains when trying to burn a SVCD, that the data-encoding is invalid for SVCD.
When I turn off the standard-compatibility the size of the videofile is changing from 800 MB to 900 MB. Burning it on a CD-R 99 works on my DVD, but this suckers are expensive.
Any help would be appreciated....
Yes and No,The best way that I know of is to use a Program called ProCoder to Convert the NTSC avi file into a Pal avi file then encode it to mpeg..There is a Way to take a 23.9FPS file and convert it to 25FPS, but it is a Bit tricky, it involves changeing the frame rate to 25FPS but then the audio will be a couple minutes per hour Faster than the Video so you have to use a Audio editing program like Sound Forge to shrink the audio file by makeing it play faster so it fits with the Video..But as you can probably tell it is Quite tricky..But then again to purchase ProCoder costs around $700, so you take it from there..There is a cheaper program called "Advanced NTSC/PAL converter" that is supposed to do a pretty good job..
Or you can use AVIsynth which does a pretty good job and is free and quite simple to use once you get the hang of it.
You should also be able to find examples of the script you would need to do this conversion with AVIsynth if you go to the videtools.net site and have a look at the guides.
Here is an example script which you use to do NTSC>PAL conversion using an MPEG2 file and DVD2AVI:
AVISource("C:NTSC_clip.avi")
Bob
ConvertFPS(50)
SeparateFields().SelectEvery(4,0,3)
return Weave()
Note: the movie source must be at least 480 pixels in height for this to work properly.
Then just load the file into TMPG and encode as normal.
I had the same problem with crashing. I renamed mp43dmod.dll to mp43dmod.dlo and was able to use TMPEnc. I noticed no difference in Media Player 9 with any files.
I am using TMPGEnc to convert a .avi file to VCD file
Does matter how many times I tried, the TMPGE just get really slow after encoded to 25%.(after 25%, it takes 30 mins to encode 1 second of avi file)
I waited for about 7 hours and finally done 27%, when I watch it, it gets a black screen after 25%. So that means TPMGE stops working after 25%
The avi file works fine when I play it with Window Media player.
There shouldn"t be any problem encodeing Mpeg4 files..You just might need to raise the priority of the direct show file reader..go to "options" to "enviromental settings" to "Vfapi plugins" and raise the "Direct show file reader"...
That error most likely means that the codec that is decodeing the file for tmpgenc is crashimg it...there could either be a codec problem or a problem reading your file..Try useing Virtual dub and try to frame serve it to tmpgenc...
i have extracted video and audio from a file, and am using TPMGEnc to put it together. It worked fine for me the first time, but now i get error messages saying the video file is unsupported. I can use the MPEG Tools Under File.. MPEG Tools to do a simple multiplex without a problem. Could someone give me an idea of what my problem may be? Like I said it was working fine, and then just stopped. Thanks in advance for your help!
I guess from you Post that you are trying to encode a Mpeg2 file to a Mpeg1/2 file???If this is true You can allways use DVD2AVI to make a D2V file from the Mpeg file and encode the D2V file to mpeg, then after encodeing Multiplex the audio with the encoded Video...
I'm ripping a VCD and them getting an MPEG but the MPEG is not compatible with the program Im using DVDit so I have to TMPEG it. but I have a feeling the quality is being lost to do this and I have to use a MPEG1 formate to work with this program what would be the best codes to use to keep the quality cause it seems like the video quality is fading and what would you think would be the best codes for MPEG1 or MPEG2 quality period.
I don"t have a total grasp of what you are trying to say but re-encodeing a File will allways loose some Quality ,It can not be avoided..Useing a Higher bitrate will give you a picture that is closer to the original picture than if useing a Lower bitrate...I didn"t know that DVDit did VCD"s...
Ok, I have tryed all the options to remove the interlacing lines from my video footage, and it is never any different, Question, I only have the trial version of tmpg, (which is a good job if this doesn't work), is the trial version restricted in any way ?, Why can I not remove this Interlace problem, this is the only thing now stopping me from buying the software, apart from that it's the best encoder ive used.
- If goal is to author for settop player and TV viewing, leave it interlaced but make sure the source page in tmpgenc has the correct top/bottom field order setting.
- If goal is to watch on a computer with DVD player software consider that they have pretty decent deinterlacing which may be acceptable. The artifact is far less noticeable than processing tools which display the raw merged frame. Forget about using Media Player, it does no deinterlacing and does not display a proper aspect ratio for 720x480 video.
- If pristine stop frame appearance is needed, use Virtualdub. The builtin deinterlace/blend followed by mild sharpening is great for low motion material. The add-on plugin, "Smart Deinterlace", with motion threshold set very low is great at interpolating a single, crisp frame from two fields with a lot of motion. Follow this with a smoother if it has artifacts.
- If the video is deinterlaced, always set the output format to "non-interlace" otherwise settop players may not frame step through the material properly.
I have a question regarding video cards. I buying yet another new system, and was advised to spend an extra 220.00 on a better video card. Both cards are 64mb nVidia. Would a better card make the encoding go faster? If I'm spending the money is it best to do it on memory or processor?
A Video card will have little or no effect at all when it comes to encodeing..what you need for fest encodeing is a Fast prosessor and a whack of ram helps too...
How much memory would you suggest. I have systems with pc800 ram. It costs a lot of $$$$$$ . I'm using downloaded movies (AVI) 700mb . Would that suggest that I should have at least 700mb in ram too?
Ram isn"t as in portant as Prosessor power..Usually 256-512mb should be fine..I use PC2100-DDR and it is the same price as PC133-sdr were I live..Tmpgenc isn"t the fastest encoder around and if you are just looking for fast encodeing speed then it might be cheaper to just use a faster encoder...And I would sugest not useing Downloaded movies cuz they cause a lot of problems like Corupted files incorect frame rates audio sync problems uncompatible audio formats and wierd resolutions and they aren"t the best Quality..Get a DVD-Rom and rip DVD"s and you will get the best Quality with out the problems that come with downloaded movies...
Hi, firstly i must say that Tmpgenc is really great! considering it free to encode mpeg 1 files for VCD! Anyway here's my question:
Is there a way to export from premiere timeline to Tmpgenc? currently i have to export to avi first then use Tmpgenc to convert avi to mpeg 1. thanks in advance for assisting!
AviSynth isn"t really a Plugin, but I think you can install the Video server to export files into Tmpgenc try going here :http://www.videotools.net/ and read up on it cuz useing AVISynth isn"t like useing any other video tool it can be a lot more complicated but the video server should be fairly straight foreward..
I've been using Tmpeg for years now since it started and I agree with Sam that this is a great tool. It would be a great combination if TMPG Enc Net can give us a version that is plug-in to Premiere. Please ! can we have a plug-in. BBMPG premiere plugin is ok but I sill prefer TMPG......
