Question - TE25 - tmpgenc 2.58 shut down by reencoding my mpeg2 file No.29273
andref4  2002-10-12 03:02:52 ( ID:5cnsbyzghmk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi,

i have a big problem with tmpgenc 2.58. i have converted an avi file to mpeg2 since last week. now i want to reencode this mpeg2 with a lower bitrate because it is a little to big for one cd. when i open this mpeg2 file i became an error message that this mpeg 2 file is not supported. i have installed powerdvd and the cyberlink mpeg2 reader is in the vfapi plug-in tab.
then i¡ve installed the ligos mpeg2 codec and after reboot i have bothe reader (cyberlink and ligos) in the vfapi plug-in tab. if i open my old mpeg2 movie again, tmpgenc shut down without a comment!? what did i wrong???? i have both mpeg2 codecs on my system and with no one i can reencode my mpeg2 file.

can anybody help me??? with 2.56 and 2.57 i have no problems!!!

lupy  2002-10-12 12:19:15 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

why do u need 2 mpg2 codecs? just use the minimum number of codecs on your system

ASHY  2002-10-13 10:39:37 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Your problem is most probably the fact you have installed two MPEG2 codecs and you are causing a conflict.
I would leave the Ligos codec installed and remove the Cyberlink one.

Anyway it may not be necessary to re-encode at all.
You may be able to fit the file onto a cdr by demultiplexing the audio and re-encoding it to a lower bitrate such as 128 kb/s then re-muxing.

Also you can overburn most cdr's by an extra 20mb, so if you have and 80min/800mb cd then you should be able to fit 820mb on it if you overburn.

Question - TE25 - Please Help with VCD problem No.29270
David Cham  2002-10-12 01:58:10 ( ID:7jd2qlyfokm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I would like you guys to help me out. I'm not sure where's my problem is. Please advice. I use VirtualDub to change the audio to wav file. Then i use TMPGEnc to encode and everything seem to be ok without any message popping out. After complete encoding, I use Nero Burner to Burn the CD. Everything seem to be ok during the burning process. But went the VCD complete burning, i try it on my DVD player and also my laptop. The audio seem to be find but the picture doesn't play as smooth as the original file for the whole show (Can't see the picure nicely like playing a movie in the internet (300kbps) using 128kbps broadband speed). I'm not sure what happen where i just follow the instruction on 'AVI to VCD MPEG' and 'How to make VCD with Nero 5.5+'. Please advice whether its the encoding problem or nero burning problem and also the step to overcome the problem. Thanks in advance.

This is all the information that i can provide. I think my problem is what you call jecky playback but i don't know where is my mistake is. Everything seems to be find until completion of burning process. This is all my information during the process.

And this is the information on Tmpgenc

This is the following information from the mpeg file from the Nero 5.5

did u play your mpg on the pc before burning it? does it play ok? if its jerky before u burn it then its an encoding prob.....

David Cham  2002-10-12 17:46:54 ( ID:a1p.mwbwfh. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It seems find went playing in nero burner before burning VCD. Is it the 'birate' problem which is too low or the 'aspect ratio' which i need to change from 1:1 (VGA) to 4:3 525 line (NTSC TV).I did not change the aspect ratio because i'm afraid it would come out worst. Do i need to change it so that i can play it on my dvd player?

You didn't mention what encoding program you used but anyways try cutting/splitting the video with BBMEG. You can choose the size where it will split and then burn with nero. Check it before you burn

ElementThree  2002-10-12 04:59:29 ( ID:krli4ehdgr. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I used the TMPGEnc software to incode and to split

i have a problem. i try to encode an .avi file and it seems that the audio is unable to be processed with the avi!!! i have tryied to make a .wav of the audio of the movie and plug that into the audio part but i encode still with no sound. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!

Thank you

Kid  2002-10-12 01:01:56 ( ID:gfjhjhsn1sn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is what I do to encode avi to mpeg.
1) First, I always rebuild the avi file with DivFix.
2) Open Virtual Dub, open your avi file, go to audio chose full processsing mode, then go to file and save as wav.
3) When it is done processing, I usually close the avi file and then reopen it. When I open it again, this time I go to video choose direct stream copy and audio chose no audio then go to file and save as avi.
4) Close your avi file and then close Virtual Dub.
4) You will end up with two files one with video only and the other with audio only.
5) Open the video only and audio only files in TMPGE. Choose the settings you want etc., name your new mpeg and where you want to save it, then encode.

This should work.

lupy  2002-10-12 08:23:14 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

u can use the original avi file for the video.......no need to demux it

Well that didn't work. it kept on coming up with this error that the audio compression wasn't right or something like that.

lupy  2002-10-13 15:10:23 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

what came up with this error? tmpgenc?

USSJ_Trunks71  2002-10-14 14:50:30 ( ID:wzoezdh/umg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i was using virtual dub to get the sound into an mp3 for the movie and it sez that the audio compression is different from the original or something like that.
however i did do this for a different movie and it did work using the virtual dub mp3 and the original video to encode the mpg. so it does work just not with the movie i want it to.

so if anyone has Yu-Gi-Oh Movie in mpg format or in avi format that can be encoded e-mail me

Thank You

ASHY  2002-10-15 12:55:05 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Why are you trying to encode the audio to mp3 this is incompatible for MPEG VCD or SVCD?
It could be that your movie contains Ac3 audio which is incompatible audio for TMPG and Virtualdub.

To extract the audio to a wav file use AVIMUX which can handle most types of audio in an AVI.
Just load the AVI into AVIMUX and highlight the audio stream then right click on the audio stream to bring up the compression settings. Choose PCM to extract to a wav.

Question - TE25 - will tmpgenc conflict? No.29254

i have 2 other video capturing/encoding programs on my computer (Premeire, Cleaner), and i am wondering if adding this program will conflict with the others and cause a problem...? i NEED the .wmv capability to convert to .mpg.

thanks!

Minion  2002-10-12 08:47:38 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Not At All...If software is made by a legit company and not your Neighbour and good software there shouldn"t ever be a conflict in 2 or more pieces of software, and not with Tmpgenc, i have Premier 6.5 and Cleaner 5.12 and about 20 other video editing ,encodeing Authoring and capture programs installed and never had any sort of conflict with Tmpgenc..There are ways to use WMV files in Programs that don"t normally accept WMV files By Frame serveing..I can encode WMV files in CCE or any other encoder frame serveing and a Lot Quicker than Cleaner can do it, unless you are useing Cleaner to Capture to WMV...

I haven't seen it mentioned here but a good program called "ReStream" is available at:

www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/encoding_edit.html

This lets you flip the "top field first" or aspect ratio flags along with many other settings. Saves having to go back and re-encode after a dumb error.

I am using TMPGenc, to take xvid encoded avi's and split them into DVD compatable, mpeg2 separate streams (for dvd studio pro). I have 10 video's, all with XVid codec, and 5 videos worked fine. The other 5 freeze the program or fail after 2-3 seconds. I can't figure out why some work and other wouldn't. Any ideas? Thanks!! I'm using .58 btw.

dgoldy  2002-10-11 20:48:27 ( ID:dqbeesif1oj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello, I've been using TMPGEnc for some time without any problems. I recently installed it on a new computer (AMD XP2000 and Windows XP) and it again worked fine. The only thing I've done differently is that yesterday I encoded an MPEG-2 file for the first time. Today when I tried to cut/join a different MPEG-1 file using MPEG Tools I get an error message and TMPGEnc shuts down.

Any suggestions?

Have 2 short MPEG movies that I need to join together. I guess I can use TOOLS but how do you do it?

Minion  2002-10-11 20:55:31 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well it is totally simple, you open the mpeg tools go to Merge and Cut then load the first file then the second file then choose the output directory then click the "correct" button then click "Run" and that is it..even a Monkey can do it....but there is no gaurantee that the mpeg tools will work ,they are pretty Buggy...

for joining mpg1 try camels mpg joiner... search in google

It probably has nothing to do with the fact you encoded a Mpeg2 file the day before, the problem probably is that the Mpeg Tools are really Buggy and there isn"t anything you can do to fix then when they don"t want to work...Use a different Mpeg editor...

dgoldy  2002-10-11 20:57:20 ( ID:dqbeesif1oj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Any suggestions? Are there other good free ones?

Minion  2002-10-11 21:18:39 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Everything is free on the net, you can find a couple Mpeg editors at "h**p://w*w.apachez.net" in the tools section, like Mpeg-VCR and M2-edit pro, they are older versions but they work fine...

I am using a Dell OptiPles GX260 2.25 Ghz with 512 Mb memory. When starting the conversion process, I receive an error stating that P3Package.dll will not load and the process will not continue. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Minion  2002-10-11 20:50:19 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK, This is a Very common Question..First make sure that all the Tmpgenc files are in the same folder and not just sitting on your desktop...then look in the Tmpgenc folder and look for a file called "P3P Package.dll" if it isn"t there then that is your problem but if it is there you can try copy and pasteing the file into the System32 folder and if that don"t work download tmpgenc again..

Thanks! I had created a shortcut on my desktop. When I clicked on the .exe in the folder where it was extracted...it worked fine! Thanks alot!

I have the logo filter for virtual dub but this takes long because I am taking my final mpeg and going to avi with the logo on it than i gotta go back to mpeg with tmpgenc.

But you say there is a way to transfer it over to tmpgenc straight?

Can I take my original dv2 files and use those in virtuald? and cut out all these useless steps?

This is what i was doing... DVD TO D2V, D2V to MPEG, MPEG to AVI with logo than AVI TO FINAL MPEG.

Maybe I can cut out many steps and save lots of hours.

thanks
-Steve

swepeea  2002-10-11 20:30:31 ( ID:s7vybry2xsh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have converted my avi. file to mpeg using tmpgenc and i put it right on to a blank cd. As you probably guessed, it doesn't work in my dvd player. Is there something else I have to do to get the video to play? The dvd player says "bad disc"? I could really use some help from some nice person, I would love to get this thing working. Thanks in advance for any advice. -Patrick

Hi there, tmpgenc on help you to encode but not burning VCD. If you need more help, you can check in the 'http://www.vcdhelp.com' website which show the steps from converting avi file to burning VCD/SVCD/DVD. Check it out and browse around the website. It helps alot.

Minion  2002-10-11 20:47:38 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well it probably has to do with how you burned it to disk...What did you use??You have to use a Program specificly designed to burn vcd/svcd"s like Nero or VCDEasy, you can"t just burn it to a CD-r as a data cd and have it play...
