Question - TE40 - 2 audio streams to divx No.58939
Bruce  2009-07-13 03:43:07 ( ID:ixq3oabtehm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I want to convert a dvd to divx.

If the dvd has to 2 audio streams, for example normal soundtrack + audio commentary. Is there a way to keep both audio streams when converting to Divx?

Thanks

Martin Wichtmann  2009-07-13 14:35:02 ( ID:dfditwmikpk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Not with tmpgenc4, you would have to export two videos with each audio track. And name them :

video 1 - norm audio
video 1 - commentary

for example.

Question - TE40 - TMPGEnc as a frame converter No.58936
zom  2009-07-09 20:27:27 ( ID:rgyt1/v1g2j )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I know TMPGEnc Express does interpolation in deinterlacing.

What I'm wondering is if I'm converting some 15fps video to 30fps... will TMPGEnc Express just double existing frames? Or will it generate new intermediate ones?

Haven't found any answer yet on line.

Thanks.

tkrave  2009-07-11 02:33:19 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think if you're going from 15 fps interlaced to 30fps progressive, then it will generate new frames. But if you're going 15fps progressive to 30fps progressive, it will probably just double existing frames. You'd probably have to go from 15fps progressive to 30fps interlaced for it to generate truly "new" frames...they'll just be interlaced frames though.

I've only done 30fps interlaced to 60fps progressive and it looks great.

Question - TAW4 - Is there a way to divide the clips in a track into Chapters? No.62125
David40  2009-07-09 02:52:22 ( ID:rc2rimbg/yn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I was curious if there is a way to break up the individual clips in a Track into chapters. For example if I had a 30 minute clip and wanted to divide it into 5 or 10 minute segments. Is there a way to do this inside the program?
Thanks

tkrave  2009-07-09 18:31:55 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Each clip in a track registers as a chapter in the menu.

If you want to create more chapters within a clip, you can add chapter marks in the Clip Editing window. Just navigate to the frame you want the chapter mark to be at and click on the chapter mark button (it has a flag icon on it).

You can also use the chaptering tool to automatically add chapter marks to a clip.
In the Clip Editing window, click on the Edit Menu button (the button above the Undo button) and select the Chaptering Tool in the list. You can also use ctrl+k as a shortcut to access the Chaptering Tool.

Check out this page if you're not sure what I'm talking about. It's for DVD Author 3 but the process is the same for Authoring Works 4.

Question - TAW4 - Subtitles work for a while then sudden dissappear No.62122
bLuECoDe  Home )  2009-07-08 16:21:16 ( ID:hyfqkpetnkc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello there. Well simple question, hope any1 can help and sorry for my english by the way. I made a BD from a M2TS with spanish subtitles. All play flawless until subtitles dissappered from minute 30 of the film till the end. What is wrong?,any1 can help me in this issue. Thanxs in advance, cheerz from Chile, southamerica.

tkrave  2009-07-09 18:44:18 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are you using a separate subtitles file?

If so, it's possible that there is something in the file that Authoring Works doesn't like. It could be some html or an odd character. The point where subtitles stop appearing is where the conflict will be, so make a note of where the subtitles stop working and look at your subtitles file for something out of the ordinary.

Snakebane  2009-09-20 21:44:03 ( ID:cdk9jctzmbl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you imported the subtitle from an external file, such as SRT format, then yes sometimes the program will do that. As tkrave says something is causing a conflict. The easiest fix I have found, and I do this with every srt I import: Use subtitle workshop to open and resave the file. I've never had to make any changes to the subtitle file, just open and set the framerate and save it. Problem should be solved after doing this. I don't know why it happens, but if I import an SRT into TAW4 its usually blank or half missing until I open/save it in subtitle workshop. Hope that helps you. Version 2.51 is stable, version 4 is beta. get it here:

Question - TAW4 - Will this software shrink video to fit 4.7 disc? No.62120
David40  2009-07-07 21:04:51 ( ID:rc2rimbg/yn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have not experimented with this so I thought I would ask if anyone has. I want to add a bunch of clips to a project but the graph at the bottom of the screen shows my clips exceed the capacity of a standard 4.7 DVD. Will TAW4 automatically adjust the resolution and shrink the video to fit on the 4.7 disc?
Thanks

tkrave  2009-07-08 01:01:34 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, at the Output screen, select "Single layer DVD media (4.7 GB) size" as the target size under the Transcoder settings.

Question - TDA3 - Can't open project file No.60897
Mrack  2009-07-06 19:57:39 ( ID:uz6dov06ov. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm from Russia, so sorry for my english.
I recently reinstalled windows xp. Install the TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring again and tried to open a project that I saved before reinstalling. The program said that it was not her project! How to convince her that it was not right?? I definitely need to open it - it's too difficult to build it again!

tkrave  2009-07-07 19:45:30 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What is the exact error message you are getting?

Mrack  2009-07-08 13:01:47 ( ID:6q9wck5xfeo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

when I open *.tda3 file, it displays an error "This file is not a project file generated by TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring"
But this is a save of this program!!!! I just reinstall it!

PablitoCarajero  Home )  2009-10-07 23:55:48 ( ID:tkeq6.5zh8o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The same is happening to me!

I was working on a big project (32 chapters, 140 min total runtime). It was epic and quality. It was practically finished, being the music for the menu the only thing remaining to finally do an output. Saved, closed the software.

The next morning, tried to open it, but I only got the message that reads "this is not a TMPGEnc...blah blah... project". Tried several times, but it just won't load.

All the settings in the project were ok, even I watched the whole project in the simulation screen and all the videos runned without a single problem...

Don't know what happens... Could it be because the size of the tda3 file (11MB)?

Please, help! Don't want to start again with this, cause it will take years to reach the same point!!!

I see that no one ever got back to you on this. That is a bummer.

Having experienced this myself, here is what I discovered. I opened a copy of the TDA3 file in Notepad to see if I could spot anything useful to use to rebuild the file I had worked upon for a week. I saw that that 75% of the file was blank. I compared this to another TDA3 file in Notepad and saw that it was supposed to have data in the whole file. My conclusion is that DVD Author experienced an error and did not save the file completely. I would have resaved it the night before if it given me any indicator that it had experienced an error.

In short, there is no way to fix the file that has the error. If anyone has a clue as to how to rescue that data still present, this would be helpful, but that is a programmers question to answer, not a clueless software user.

What do we learn from this? Always save a backup copy of anything.

Question - TAW4 - TMPGEnc Xpress 4.7.1.284, TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4.0.2.14 & 4.0.4.24 No.62114
alanfox  2009-07-05 16:38:15 ( ID:mg3vewoqo5r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

None of these run under Windows 7 build 7264 (32 bit). Even in compatability mode. Xpress loads and dies with error, Authoring Works won't even load.

tkrave  2009-07-07 19:38:55 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are you running a crack? Because it won't work if it is.

alanfox  2009-07-09 13:13:14 ( ID:mg3vewoqo5r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Products work fine in Windows 7 under Virtual Windows XP mode.

MathewLisett  Home )  2009-07-16 09:33:06 ( ID:eo3aljutoxk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

tkrave

you are incorrect on that matter

tkrave  2009-07-16 22:40:32 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Then I guess there's some cracks I haven't tried. A lot of them can open, load, create a project, but somewhere during the project creation an error will come up or something won't work correctly.

MathewLisett  Home )  2009-07-21 21:32:58 ( ID:eo3aljutoxk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

true, but then again whats to say if thats just a bug or not :)

but from your original comment stating the software wouldnt work, gave the feelign that if the software was cracked it wouldnt work at all.

Question - TAW4 - Screen Size No.62106
JARRE2000  2009-07-05 05:43:30 ( ID:vcbjrve..nj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My question is about screen size. I seem to not be able to get a full screen when I do the simulation and output parts. Events I have recorde in full screen do not come out that way in the simulation. Can anyone help!

tkrave  2009-07-07 19:41:00 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can you elaborate the problem a bit more? Are you saying that you have 4:3 video and there are black bars on the sides? What exactly are you seeing?

JARRE2000  2009-07-08 03:18:31 ( ID:vcbjrve..nj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am seeing a full screen from top to bottom, but there are black areas to the left and right side of the picture. I have tried using 4:3 and 16:9, some times I get a full screen and other times I get the picture cut off.

tkrave  2009-07-09 18:48:56 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is your screen 4:3 or 16:9?
Is your source video 4:3 or 16:9?
What are the default clip properties you see when you add the clip into the program? (dimensions, aspect ratio)

Bob  2009-07-10 03:15:49 ( ID:vcbjrve..nj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My tv screen is I think 4:3. It is a 20 inch lcd. I am not sure if its 4:3 or 16:9. It is not a wide screen tv, or a high def. It is just a regular 20 inch.

The source video is 16:9 I think, its full screen after I record the game on it.

There are 5 to 6 choices for the defalut prperties, and I don't know which one to choose to get a full screen. I am really unsure about this. I have tried both 4:3 and 16:9. Sometimes I get a full screen, other times I don't?

JARRE2000  2009-07-14 20:03:06 ( ID:vcbjrve..nj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Here is some more info:

I use Need 4 Video to create my files.

The default settings are:

Width: 720
Height: 480
Frame Rate: 29.97
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Resize Method: Letterbox
Resize Quality: Best (Slow)
Bitrate: 4025 K Bit/ Sec

tkrave  2009-07-17 18:10:12 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK, so your video file is 16:9, but what about the actual video content? If there are black bars on the left and right of the video, it sounds like the content is 4:3 but it's been encoded as 16:9. If your source video is 4:3 and your TV is 4:3, you should change the encoding setting to 4:3 in Need 4 Video.

Is there anyway you can post a screencap of your video before you put it into Authoring Works 4?

JARRE2000  2009-07-17 20:46:41 ( ID:vcbjrve..nj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I can't do a screencap, but I will change to 4:3. Thank you for your help.

Question - TE40 - Wich settings do I need No.58934
hello11  2009-07-04 19:06:00 ( ID:jios1mjo2jk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

I've bought an MP4 player a time a go. It's a generic model from the supermarket here in Belgium (Bluesky). This MP4-player was bundled with a program "Avi Converter". You have tu use this program to convert a video to the right codec, resolution, etc. But I'm not satisfied with the results of this program (Sound is not at the same time as the video,...). So I want to use TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress for this job. But I don't know which settings I have to configure. I've uploaded a small video: http://www.2shared.com/file/6558211/7839e988/iPhone_Commercial_Parody_The_Daily_Buzz.html This video is converted with "Avi Converter". Can someone tell me which settings I have to configure?

It would be a great help for me!

Thanks in advance!

tkrave  2009-07-07 19:35:46 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What kind of MP4 player is it? As in the make and model number? Knowing what it's specs are will help determine the best video format and settings. Did it come with an instruction manual or is there a company name and model number anywhere?

Just going from your AVI, it's XviD, 20 fps, 320x240, video bitrate 310 kb/s, audio is MPEG-2, 128kb/s stereo CBR.

Question - TAW4 - Inputformat h.264 ? No.62105
Tom_NBG  2009-07-03 22:01:23 ( ID:ieotg0i/pqc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I've been using DVD Author 3 and now trial TAW4.
I have recorded .ts files (h.264, multi-audio-tracks). So I demux the tracks to the elementary streams (.264, ac3). When I'll open the .264 file i get an error, that the file coudn't be opened? (in DVD-Author 3 i can open .264 files!). So why i can't open these? The problem not using the .ts stream is a asynchron audio/video track. In the past it was the best (when will also cutting scenes), using elementary streams.

Any Help or Information for me available?
thanks for help a lot
cheers
Tom

Question - TDA3 - start a clip directly from the top menu No.60895
tommer  Home )  2009-07-01 14:39:49 ( ID:2plb/cvsmtn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi there,

I have various clips.
I want the viewer to be able to start/view
- some of those clips directly after selecting (one of) them in the top menu
and
- the other clips after navigating to a subpage

starting clips from a subpage is easy.
how can I have clips start directly from the top menu ?

thanks,

tommer.

tkrave  2009-07-07 20:02:14 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't think that's possible. You can have videos play directly from the top menu only if you choose the "Top menu only" option when you create your menu.
