MP3 use for audio  Home )  2002-09-26 03:04:45 ( ID:9lr9f8mz3yr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It is said that TMPGEnc cannot decode/encode mp3s for the source, but it is wrong. I have been doing it myself since i have first used TMPGEnc and it has worked fine. To select an MP3 for the audio you must select browse, there will be a drop down menu at the bottom, choose (All Files *.*) and select the mp3.

Minion  2002-09-26 09:14:29 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It Can do it dut it doesn"t like it..the chances of errors is greater and sync problems and cutting out..these problems are more relateing the the MP3 codec used to decode the file than Tmpgenc..But with wave file there is no codec used so there are no compression problems...

ASHY  2002-09-26 21:19:31 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I agree with Minion. It all depends on the codec. I have never had any problems decoding MP3 files or any other compressed format with TMPG or creating them for that matter when I have the correct codec installed, but like Minion says it's easier to convert to wav to prevent any problems.

Question - TE25 - TMPGenc rules- all other encoders dissapoints me No.28628
frankie  2002-09-26 02:54:03 ( ID:gg1wtdequka )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi, i've been using Tmpgenc by itself for about six months now and all of the svcd movies have come out quite good and has been quite consistent in terms of quality and reliability. I usually put the "aspect ratio at 4:3" and at "Full scren- keep aspect ratio" depending on what movie i get most have come out in widescreen. So, a couple of days ago i decided to try dvd2svcd (and Virtual Dub to split the movie in half) using cce to encode as well as using Tmpgenc with dvd2svcd. However i did't really liked the outcome so i went back to using Tmpgenc by itself. Now the movies mostly come out in very bad quality mostly with lots of square blocks. But most importantly the movie comes out not as widescreen on the tv but with the top and bottom filled up with the sides cropped a bit as if looking like a square box. I have uninstall dvd3svcd and cce and installed tmpgenc over again but nothing helps. I want my movie to go back widesreen again but now when i start to encode i also notice that both sides are also cropped a bit. Does anybody know how i can make my movie widescreen again. I tried "Clip Frame' but it doesn't really look like widescreen, just makes everything squeezed in more. Any help would be appreciated. Please i want to go back to the old ways where everything was good until i started to mess around with all these encoders.

Angel Setierra  2002-09-26 02:44:29 ( ID:npfrkbyu4zr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I use the cut/merge option under "Tools"- if I clip the file and merge it with another- there is a high pitched, loud squeak where they were connected- will using a different frequency converter like Too Lame help - does anyone know wy the option to use external frequency converters is offered under environmental settings? Does it somehow help lighten the load on your CPU to use an external one rather than the built-in one with T-mpeg?

Minion  2002-09-26 09:32:42 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You get that sound at the joining point when you join the files part way through a Gop.What you have to do is join them at different spots and a few frames different, you do this with the edit function ,it is best not to use the Frame by frame buttons cuz useing them makes you edit or join point part way through gop"s..when useing the slider in the edit function it naturally stops on I frames ,which are the corret edit points in Mpeg files..

IS THEIR ANY WAY TO SPILT THE AVI INTO TWO PARTS BEFORE,DURING OR AFTER ENCODING?

Minion  2002-09-26 09:34:00 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can use the "source range" to choose were to stop encodeing..or you can edit the mpeg file...

Question - TE25 - failed to load P3dll? No.28621
Peter C  2002-09-26 01:34:28 ( ID:oycyzbxb0cc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to use v2.58 but when i load the file in to encode I get the 'failed to load p3 dll' message? Any clues...I have reinstalled...used differnet test files, everything I can think of. (Not much admittedly!) Thankyou in advance for any help.

Minion  2002-09-26 09:40:30 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Make sure ALL the Tmpgenc files are in the same folder, and then look in that folder and look for a file called "P3P package.DLL" if it isn"t there then thats your problem...and if it is there then there are 2 things you can try.. you can try copying and pasteing the p3p package into your system32 directory and if that doesn"t work then re-install tmpgenc...

Question - TE25 - how do you remove the interlacing lines from the video ? No.28615
wez  2002-09-25 23:56:46 ( ID:cts0b298yqw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Im capturing my video using studio 7, and when I try and encode this uncompressed AVI file, I get these horrible Interlacing lines in my preveiw screen and the output movie !!! the souce is a digital camera, Ive read all about it but still can't seem to get rid of them, Please someone help, Im getting fed up with sitting up till 2 am, Plus the girlfriend isn't too happy as I spend too much time at the PC !!!!!

Any help will be great,

Wez

Angel Setierra  2002-09-26 02:08:40 ( ID:npfrkbyu4zr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can try making your Mpeg as interlaced also- tell it that the source file is interlaced and you want your output mpeg as interlaced and also try using de-interlace (double)- if that is too blurry try using the sharpener with it. That can also be tried if you make your output mpeg non-interlaced/progressive.

Minion  2002-09-26 10:00:32 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

you shouldn"t use the Double-field de-interlace unless you don"t know that your field order is..and you can find out what your field order is by loading your file into tmpgenc useing the "Wizard" with the Wizard it analizes interlaced video for the correct filed order and will set the field order to either "upper field first" or "lower field first" and if it says that it is "Upper field first" then you probably would use the "Even Field" de-interlace filter and if it is "Lower field First" then use the "Odd field" de-interlace filter...

ASHY  2002-09-26 21:47:14 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I agree you should use even field or odd field. Which one doesn't really matter even if it's upper or lower field first. All this means is that either the even or odd lines start first and seeing as there are the same amount of even and odd lines it doesn't matter which ones are removed.

Ok, I have tryed all of you suggestions, and it is never any different, Question, I only have the trial version of tmpg, (which is a good job if this doesn't work), is the trial version restricted in any way ?, Why can I not remove this Interlace problem, this is the only thing now stopping me from buying the software, apart from that it's the best encoder ive used.

N E help ????

Are u saying that the de-interlace filter has no effect whatsoever. Is the de-interlace filter actually checked to make it active?
Are you using any other filters like the 3:2 pulddown filter?

Request - TE25 - XVCD support to Wizard No.28611
Finnish guy  2002-09-25 23:53:29 ( ID:3hfvmug6ijm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

XVCD support to Wizard for speedy XVCD making.

What is XVCD? (http://www.xvcd.com/xvcd.htm)
"XVCD is an alternate VCD format. The X stands for eXtended VCD, but unlike regular VCD, or SVCD, it is not an officially recognized format. XVCD uses a higher bit rate (max 3.5Mbit/second) as opposed to VCD (1150Kbit/second), which results in a better image quality, but this is at the expense of more time, which makes it impossible for the format to contain more than 25 minutes of material. This makes it great to archive a half hour TV show, but you would need at least four XVCDs to store the average feature film.

One of the main advantages of XVCD is its ability to accommodate higer resolution program material, such as PAL or NTSC as opposed to regular VCDs which can only play CIF format files.

Furthermore, since XVCD isn't officially recognized, manufacturers of standalone players aren't concerned with making their units XVCD compatible. VCDs are not commonly found in the Western world, but the they have virtually replaced VHS in China and other Eastern countries."

---

XVCD stands for eXtendedVCD and is an extension of VCD 2.0. It tries to use the most power from the chip of the standalone dvd player. Some people speak from a mix between VCD 2.0 and SVCD. XVCD uses like VCD MPEG1 but it is possible to use higher bitrates and higher resolution.

XVCD PAL
Video:
-any kbit/sec MPEG-1 both variable and constant bitrate.
-352 x 288 pixels
-25 frames/second
Audio:
-32-384 kbit/sec MPEG-1 Layer2
Extra:
-Menus and chapters
-Still pictures in 704x576,352x288

XVCD NTSC
Video:
-any kbit/sec MPEG-1 both variable and constant bitrate
-352 x 240 pixels
-29,97 frames/second (23,976 frames/second NTSC Film)
Audio:
-32-384 kbit/sec MPEG-1 Layer2
Extra:
-Menus and chapters
-Still pictures in 704x480,352x240

---

Most cheapest DVD players that plays XVCD discs have limits: Video MAX 2500 br - Audio MAX 256 br. i.e. Philips have's many DVD players that supports XVCD discs. List of all VCD,SVCD,XVCD,XSVCD supported DVD drives at http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdplayers.php.

Now a days there is many many many DVD players on the market that has XVCD support, but the resellers are not advertising with those extra supports.

Anybody who feels they are accomplished enough to create XVCD shouldn't need a wizard and as far as the wizard goes I can set up TMPG much faster through the main interface than using the wizard which in my opinion is for amatuers and amatuers so stick to regular templates because they don't know what they are doing.

Mainly I agree with ASHY.

The Wizard provides something within VCD/SVCD/DVD standard, and XVCD
is totally out of them, so I think there is no reason why TMPGEnc
guides users (especially newbies) to "out of standard" / "on your own risk"
area. This may be another reason why TMPGEnc locks some patameters
not to create out of standard MPEG, although people can unlock them
with your own risk.

Question - TE25 - Use Ripped Vobs in DVDit? No.28609
Art  2002-09-25 22:18:14 ( ID:3p1cbzhxhfw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a movie I ripped using Smartripper, where I told it to split the vobs by chapter, which made it easy to play off the HD. Now I want to burn them to DVD-R, using the different vobs as chapter points.

I first tried using MyDVD 3.1. It plays fine, but after each file you have to go back to the menu, you canÃÕ play them in order. The nice thing about MyDVD is that it accepted the vobs directly once I renamed them to .mpg, with no re-encoding or demuxig.

I heard that DVDit could play all the files in order, so I tried it. Only problem is that when I preview the DVD I hear the sound. But once you build the DVD, DVDit demuxes and it looses the sound. I know I could use a program to demux ahead of time, but wouldnÃÕ that just be asking for audio sync problems? I love the way MyDVD takes the vobs/mpg directly. I just wish there was a happy medium. Any suggestions?

Minion  2002-09-26 08:57:45 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would join them into One big Vob and put your own chapter points it the same spots..There is no differance at all useing segmented VOB files of one big VOB file if you put the chapter points in the same spots ..you can still use the same transitions and menues and it will look the same accept it should be a lot easier...and if you can"t figure out how to do it your way then it isn"t a bad alternitive...

Anyone a program that converts a MPEG Layer-3 vid to a MPEG 1 vid? Doesn't work with this program, it just shows a black screen when I try.

Check to make sure you have 'Output YUV data as basic YCbCr not CCIR601' unchecked in the Quantize matrix settings as this will darken the image.

Question - TE25 - Possible to have larger than 720x480 in MPEG-2? No.28600
KSmut  2002-09-25 17:53:17 ( ID:smcdppin92j )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to create an MPEG-2 larger size than 720 x 480? I have tried using the unlock feature; however, when I go to encode, TMPGEnc says it's an illegal format for MPEG-2. I can do it in MPEG-1, but want MPEG-2.

ASHY  2002-09-25 19:29:32 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes it is possible by changing the profile level to MP&HL, but be aware this will not be acceptable for most DVD players as most expect MP&ML which is standard for DVD.
