Using the latest version of Tmpgenc 4 how can you make files bigger then 720 bye 480. Once I have made a divx file with the program and play it thier is space on the left and right side of my computer screen and top and bottom are okay. I want the image on my full screen and I have divx play in full screen anyone have any idears thanks.
It sounds like it's displaying at 4:3 on a 16:9 screen. Is the source 4:3 or 16:9?
If your source is 4:3 and you want to force it to display at 16:9, then you can change the pixel aspect ratio in the clip properties window.
Note that changing a 4:3 image to 16:9 will stretch it horizontally. If the source is 4:3, you should keep it 4:3 if you don't want the image to be distorted.
In the clip properties window, simply change the aspect ratio to NTSC 16:9, PAL 16:9 or Display 16:9 depending on what the original aspect ratio is (for example, if it is NTSC 4:3, then you should use NTSC 16:9, unless you purposely want to convert it to PAL or whatnot).
Once you get to the Encode Stage, set the Aspect ratio to a 16:9 ratio as well.
You shouldn't have to change the actual resolution of 720x480.
If you really want to make the resolution bigger, for a DivX file you'd need to select the HDTV output profile. You'll then be able to go up to 1280x720.
Sometimes when I encode a movie I get the full screen but in the middle of the movie it switches back to letterbox give me the black on top and bottom then later it goes back to full screen is there something I can change to keep this from happening? I want to keep it the movie full screen all the way through.
What kind of file format is it and what profile are you using? If it's a custom profile, are which aspect ratio conversion setting are you using (letterbox, pan&scan, full screen)?
I am new to DVD Authoring - I have a very long 'clip' with numerous chapters.
I want to add transitions.
How do I do this? Do I have to create separate clips instead of chapters?
Transitions can only be applied between clips, so to insert a transition into one clip, you'll have to first divide the clip into two or more clips.
To split your clip, use the clip split button in the Cut-edit window. The clip split button has an icon that looks like this:
<-|->
(two arrows and a bar in the middle).
First, navigate to where you want to split the clip. In your case, it would be at the chapter mark. You can simply double-click on the chapter point in the chapter list to go directly to that frame.
Use the clip split button to set the split point. Then click "OK". A clip split window appears. Click on the "Split" button to register each division as a separate clip.
Once you have two clips, go back the Source stage's main window and click on the "Transition editor" button on the right side of the window. This opens the transition editor window.
Here, you can select your transition and press "OK" to apply it. Back in the Source stage, the clip listing should now show the transition duration and animation type.
when i choose main menu layout each option seems to have 3 function buttons but whatever i do the only one i end up with is PLAY ALL whereas what i want is something like NEXT PAGE/TRACK MENU so i can go to track menu and then either select a track or PLAY ALL
I'm not sure how you can just have a Play All button and nothing else. You should have a Play All button and at least a Track thumbnail or text button to access your tracks.
If you can explain exactly what you are doing in more detail, maybe I can help you more.
This is possible. The Quick Encode feature uses the first encoding profile for each device (by default it should be "Standard Quality"). With MovieStyle open, you can right click on the first (or left-most) encoding profile and then change the setting to a different predefined profile, or even use a custom profile. You would have to do this for each device you would like to change the defaults on.
There are some options in TMPG Enc that enable caching into the temporary memory (RAM) of the computer. If these options are enabled the process of outputting the Audio and Video files is significantly faster.
Tick all of the following settings in preferences:
Preferences
Multithread settings
Use multithread for filtering
Use file caching
Prefetch video while encoding (default setting)
Prefetch audio while encoding (default setting)
The last two settings were disabled after we installed the software. The first output of a half hour video took an hour. After enabling this setting it took 10 minutes.
I have the same problem. If I try to delete the files, I get "Access is denied". Then, I can't even take ownership of the files... and I'm an administrator. It happens with all the VOB files.
Hi
I saw many templates and a lot of stuff for TW4 in Japan web site, I just wonder when those new stuff could be added in English site for downloading
I'm sure more will be coming to the English site. For DVD Author 3 templates appeared on the Japanese site first and then some of them were released on the English site later.
