Question - Cyclic reduncancy check? No.61253
Stiv  2009-03-14 22:57:08 ( ID:gwtxfvuv/q. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Using the source wizard, and I select "Copy the selected titles to the hard disk drive", I am getting this error:

An error occurred while canceling the title copy to the hard disc drive. Please refer to the details below. Data error (cyclic redundancy check). (error code 0x80070017)

Any idea what that means? MovieStyle is useless to me now...

There are times when DVD-video format files (.VRO, .BUP, .IFO, VOB, ) have
special build structure or has weird data or broken, in case of import
directly from a DVD-video there are broken sectors or problems in files
specially in the .IFO files.
Please check if it happens the same with other DVD-videos.

Also try with another media disc, there are times when some data is
being ignored by some media readers.

At Windows, My computer, please try to copy the DVD (VIDEO_TS)
folder to your HDD, if it becomes a reading error it means that the
recording(copying to disc) is bad, or your DVD media is corrupted, weird,
has some kind of protection, or was wrong or special created data.

- Or... try to drag & drop the .VRO or .IFO file manually and check
about it.

-Or... please try this:
-At Source stage click "Add" button.
-From the file browser choose the folder where your .VRO file is
and select "All files (*.*)" option.
-Choose a > .VRO file and click "Open".
-There will come out a warning message, please click "No".
-then try again to convert it.

- Or... you could try to use an "IFO repair software", search or it
with this keywords in Google or other portal.

Request - Movie Style No.61249
Gavin G  2009-02-22 21:50:22 ( ID:nw3xrlsvv9g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would like Movie style or another product you make to be able to transcode:

AVCHD files from Canon and Panasonic cameras.

From 1080 p (with pulldown from canon cameras at 24p)

From 1080 p (with native progressive frames at 24p from Panasonic HMC150 cameras)

Also many are having a great time editing footage from AVCHD at 1080 from all camcorders that are now shooting this file type due to the clips being seperated in 4 gig chuncks of footage.

It would be ice if Movie style could do a straight unchanged (or pull down removal only) cut edit to say i gig clips.

Better yet, to allow input to the clips meta data (but that is a wish not a need). Sequential numbering of the output files is a must.

Also the same would be desired for Panasonic MXF files from P2 cards.
We want full raster files not the DVCproHD non-square files, so something to convert DVCproHD into an AVCHD full raster clip divided at 1 gig segments.

One gig segments allows easier editing. It is hard to edit when the computer has to manage4 gig 1080 files.

Thanks
GG

Have you checked out TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress? It's much more geared towards editing and encoding than MovieStyle is and it can do AVCHD input. I don't know if it can do all of the things you're describing, but it is probably the type of program you are looking for. They have a trial version in case you want to try it.

Gavin G  2009-02-25 18:21:40 ( ID:nw3xrlsvv9g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress
and i does not do this.

I have about 100 users looking to buy such software that can transcode these files.

tkrave  2009-02-25 19:33:52 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Point taken, but I doubt MovieStyle will ever have cut-editing capabilities.

It is more likely that 4.0 XPress will be able to do the things you are asking for.

Request - TMPGEnc MovieStyle can't export interlaced WMV No.61248
Alexander  2009-02-15 19:27:13 ( ID:gar/pncxpto )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi there,

I have a trial version of MovieStyle and I fed some AVCHD into it.
I want to prepare files as WMV for playback on Xbox 360 which is running as Mediacenter Extender.

TMPGEnc 4 Express can handle WMV 9 Advanced Profile with interlaced settings - works great! But MovieStyle cannot, sadly.

The deinterlacing is quite okay, almost acceptable, but not as good as real interlaced playback.

Thanks
Alexander

Bug report - Does'nt install on Windows 7 64bit No.61246
Lars  2009-02-01 09:24:44 ( ID:fez1y9zqbmj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just wanted to inform you that the installer fails when I try to install the trial version of TMPGenc MovieStyle (TMS_Trial_1.0.6.41_setup_en.exe), on a 64 bit english windows 7 (beta ofcourse). I know it is outside the environment the program is supposed to work in, so im not dissapointed or anything like that. Just wanted to tip you, cause if the installer is all that keeps this software from working on this platform, it might be a quick fix.

I tried to run it as an admin, in regular, vista compatible and xp compatible mode. It stops at "configuring installer". Then it quits and windows start creating a bug report for the beta program.

It seems to be a great product, so i am looking forward to testing it in the future:)

A user who was trying to install TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress ran into a problem during install on Windows 7, but he was able to get around it by using the command line. It's possible it's the same type of error.

Question - mkv No.61245
Palinder  2009-01-31 01:38:33 ( ID:d3cuz0fe6un )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there any way to add mkv with H264 support to TMPGenc Moviestyle. If this is possible then this software would be perfect!!

Cheers everyone,

Palinder

Question - Double Pass No.61243
dlg1391  2009-01-22 05:06:39 ( ID:ba3qvyup2b. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does moviestyle do a double pass before encoding the movie; and is it possible to use 5000kbps on a regular dvd instead of just 3705 or what ever the default is. Oh by the way this is for apple tv settings

tkrave  2009-01-22 18:12:15 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Unfortunately, there's no double pass encoding.

You can create a custom output profile (use the "Add" button or right-click on one of the drop areas) and use one of the HD picture sizes for 5000Kb/s, but the resolution will have to be 960x540 or 1280x720 (for the Apple TV settings). I'm not sure if that will make a difference in quality since the picture is bigger than the DVD standard.

Question - Black boxes No.61240
dlg1391  2009-01-13 12:33:31 ( ID:ba3qvyup2b. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sometimes when I encode a movie I get the full screen but in the middle of the movie it switches back to letterbox give me the black on top and bottom then later it goes back to full screen is there something I can change to keep this from happening? I want to keep it the movie full screen all the way through.

tkrave  2009-01-17 01:38:58 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What kind of file format is it and what profile are you using? If it's a custom profile, are which aspect ratio conversion setting are you using (letterbox, pan&scan, full screen)?

dlg1391  2009-01-22 05:03:02 ( ID:ba3qvyup2b. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

nevermind it was the dark knight and the movie is supposed to do that.

Question - Can the defaults on Quick encode be changed No.61238
Cy  2009-01-11 15:12:17 ( ID:9jxv5frov6n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi

The feature I use most is the quick encode from explorer, but I would like to modify the defaults, is this possible?

I love this program and I've tested most of the others, they simply aren't in the same ball park.

thx

tkrave  2009-01-15 00:23:33 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is possible. The Quick Encode feature uses the first encoding profile for each device (by default it should be "Standard Quality"). With MovieStyle open, you can right click on the first (or left-most) encoding profile and then change the setting to a different predefined profile, or even use a custom profile. You would have to do this for each device you would like to change the defaults on.

Question - Divx vs iPhone Compatible Format No.61236
Stuart  2009-01-05 03:29:53 ( ID:qpdu5k91p7o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello All,
I currently you MovieStyle to do Divx conversion from DVD (VOBs, etc) and am very satisfied with the quality. However, I also am converting to the iPhone mp4 format (to a much smaller file of course).
But maintaining two sets of files is tiresome and I don't mind loading large files of 1-2 gb per movie onto the iphone since I don't carry so many files around at once anyway.
My question is: what is the best format for this: i.e. as good as Divx for display on my large HD screens in the house (42" LCD and 67" DLP) as well as on the tiny screen on the iPhone.
Unfortunately, the iPhone doesn't play Divx or I would be all set! ;->

Thanks for any advice,
Stuart

tkrave  2009-01-17 01:34:43 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Your best option besides DivX is mp4 h.264. For higher resolutions, you can use the PS3 profiles for mp4 h.264 output.

Request - Two ways to improve Moviestyle No.61234
Aaron  2008-11-19 13:45:40 ( ID:jbnzoowegeh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've just purchased MovieStyle and I'm generally pleased with it. The UI is straight forward, making encoding very quick and easy.

However, there are two areas where I think MovieStyle could improve:

1) Quality vs. file size is very disappointing. Using the iPod normal setting, videos look significantly worse than those encoded with Handbrake's iPhone preset using a 500kbps bitrate. Despite looking worse, the files encoded with MovieStyle are two and a half times bigger than those encoded with Handbrake! Is it the lack of two-pass encoding option? I don't know.

2) As video encoding takes a long time, I tend to set up batch jobs. What annoys me about MovieStyle is that there's no way to name the output files before the encoding starts. I'm left with a lot of "title 1", "title 1 (1)", "title 1 (2)" files at the end of the process which can be a pain to sort out.

Thanks!

tkrave  2008-11-21 02:33:54 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Regarding point #2, you can set the name for each file before you output, but you have to turn off the automatic encoding option. Once that's turned off, you can add your files to the batch list, set the output name for each file, then press Start to begin batch encoding.

Question - Jittery Picture No.61232
et0609  2008-10-17 11:15:30 ( ID:4kuruui81ha )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have just converted an AVI to Apple tv format normal quality and the picture quality is good, however, I have repeated jittering throughout the entire movie. I also get picture freezes and the audio continues. Any Ideas what may be causign this?

myself  2008-10-24 08:15:26 ( ID:uexq2jhhhql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think this could be related to your QT version, or you may need to re-install it or install another MPEG-4 AVC codec. Also if you have QT PRO could be a reason.
good luck

Question - Tweak MovieStyle settings No.61230
tjdmobile  2008-07-31 16:09:05 ( ID:hcdxixw2ofj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I love what this application can do (on trial). I need to know if it's possible to tweak the encoding settings on the PS3 panel. My Xbox360 can play back H.264, but need to tweak so it will play the version for PS3. TMPGENC Xpress 4 is able to do this, but I like that this program will automatically encode from a directory. Any assistance is appreciated.

tkrave  2008-08-04 19:33:29 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can tweak it to a certain extent.
You can prioritize encoding quality or encoding speed and you can select the output resolution and bitrate from a predetermined list. Resolutions include 320x240, 320x180, 640x480, 640x360, 720x480(4:3), 720x480(16:9), 720x576(4:3, max. 25fps), 720x576(16:9, max. 25fps), 1280x720, and 1920x1080. You can also set it to output at 24fps (this is "cinema mode") and you can adjust the audio quality (normal, high).
