Question - Why does my audio re-encode? No.66986
Mike  2012-11-10 21:23:50 ( ID:p76gin0z9/l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been using Smart Renderer now for a week, but I have been surprised that it has required re-encoding of my compliant Dolby Digital Audio. The particulars are below:

Starting file type: TS (from HDPVR)
Video Stream: MPEG-4 AVC (MP@L4), 1920x1080, 29.97 fps, 1:1, Interlace (Top Field First), 19999 kbps
Audio Stream: Dolby Digital, 48000 Hz, 5.1 ch Surround, 384 kbps

Output Mode: Connect Clips into One (it is a single clip)
Output Target: MKV File
Container: MKV (.mkv)

Any idea why the audio requires re-encoding? I don't understand. Thanks.

Test extract audio and video channels. ac3 audio with delaycut fixed, finally uses TMSR4

roppp  2012-11-21 06:15:43 ( ID:dmgcqd8ioqn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Not even that 5.1 dolby digital streams are reencoded, it seems to be mixed down to stereo.

roppp  2012-11-21 06:51:54 ( ID:dmgcqd8ioqn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In my case the problem seems to be caused by format changes in the broadcasted program:

-> src_audio: AC-3, CM, 2/0(2.0), bsid 6, dn -23dB, 48000Hz, 448kbps @ 00:00:00.000
-> src_audio: AC-3, CM, 3/2lfe(5.1), bsid 6, dn -27dB, cm -3.0dB, sm -3dB, 48000Hz, 448kbps @ 00:07:52.160
-> src_audio: AC-3, CM, 3/2(5.0), bsid 6, dn -27dB, cm -3.0dB, sm -3dB, 48000Hz, 448kbps @ 02:07:47.552
-> src_audio: AC-3, CM, 2/0(2.0), bsid 6, dn -23dB, 48000Hz, 448kbps @ 02:07:47.616
-> src_audio: AC-3, CM, 3/2lfe(5.1), bsid 6, dn -27dB, cm -3.0dB, sm -3dB, 48000Hz, 448kbps @ 02:12:55.296

Smart Renderer doesn't seem to take format changes into account and therefore reencodes the file to 2.0, even I wanted to have 5.1.

Geobrick  2012-11-26 13:50:32 ( ID:cm9pbfatzlm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Same issue here. I'm using the trial (one day so far).

I tried it with AVCHD files from a canon Vixia HF M41 camrea and it all works great but when I tried it wit a .wtv file from windows media center (Audio: Dolby Digital, 48000 Hz, Stereo, 384 kbps), the smart render analyzer shows the audio as all red indicating it will all be re-encoded.

roppp, How were you able to see format changes within the audio?

roppp  2012-11-28 04:27:57 ( ID:dmgcqd8ioqn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I used ProjectX to demux the transport stream. During demux process the format change was output as shown above. ProjectX has also the ability to modify the 2.0 ac3 to 5.1 by adding missing (silent) channels ("replace all non-3/2 AC-3 by 3/2lfe silence"). Afterwards the ac3 imported to SmartRenderer is no longer re-encoded.

I have been using the software this week. Works great and processing is FAST!

Only issue is smart rendering files from the HDPVR.

Question - Pixelation No.66968
Cliff Hoppitt  2012-11-06 01:59:36 ( ID:bwgn2ba8am2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have used TMPGenc 4 express successfully for some time. just bought Smart renderer 4 but find that occasionally get extensive pixelation on transitions. i assume that this is related to the Scene Change Detection as it reduced when I removed SCD. the output is very visible for several seconds and therefore is unuseable.

I assumed that SCd would improve transitions not make them very visible. Am I missing something. In the meantime I cannot use Smart renderer 4 and will revert back to 4Express. Is Smart rendere4 a waste of money if you already have 4 express. I just wanted more MTS options for HD video.

thanks

Usually Ali_DVR_Export_Tool use for DVB-SD recordings.
Although I get a TS file, to further refine the use MPEG2 MPEG_STREAMCLIP chain, just so I get an MPEG2 file with TMSR4 editable without jumps or excessive pixelation, catches are MPG2 GOP DVB long but MPEG_STREAMCLIP largely corrects this problem, yet perceived a slight loss in the process from (ALI. dvr) -> (. TS LONG GOP 15Mbps) -> (. MPG [Fixed GOP, 8Mbps] = "Editable with TMSR4")

I guess DVB-HD has similar problems to obtain purified chains MPEG2 + MP2 in DVB-SD, besides being LONG GOP, should be equally difficult to obtain in DVB-HD channels in H265 + AC3 clean, they are also editable without major problems. Try try TSDoctor, MPEG_STREAMCLIP, TMSR4.

Question - tsmuxer compatibility and video stuttering No.66966
marco  2012-11-04 22:13:56 ( ID:ehzrcgstb0r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi
I'm evaluating TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4. In short I used it to cut a part of a h264 video (BDMV structure with no audio). Output was a m2ts. It played fine on TMT5 player. Then I demuxed this m2ts with eac3to and got a .h264 file. This file played fine too on TMT5 player. After that I remuxed this h264 adding audio track (DTS-HD) using tsmuxer output Blu-ray disk. But I noticed stuttering on video just after cutting part. I tried others output (m2ts, avchd) with tsmuxer but always stuttering.
Out of curiosity I tried mkvmerge using the demuxed h264 track and the audio track and I didn't experience any stuttering on the mkv.

So it seems a problem related to tsmuxer compatibility. Is there any workaround I can use, or maybe some alternative to tsmuxer so I can get a remuxed non-suttering BDMV structure?

Thanks in advance for your help and your opinions

wavelet  2012-11-10 20:58:23 ( ID:l60oynvfdwn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

FameRing SmartCutter (a competitor to Smart Renderer 4) has a special "tsMuxeR compatible" mode where, after doing the edits, it goes through the entire AVC stream cleaning it up so that tsMuxeR can import the result properly. Sounds like Smart Renderer 4 needs this feature!

I'm not sure what exactly the fixes needs are. With the (very limited) AVC analysis tools I have, the only difference I see is that the POC values are all changed and any negative POC values in the original stream are removed.

I could upload an example of tsMuxeR incompatible and tsMuxeR compatible video if needed.

marco  2012-11-11 05:29:09 ( ID:ehzrcgstb0r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I experienced poor results using SmartCutter compared to Smart Renderer. But getting an output 'txmuser friendly' would be great. Maybe some developers can explain why at the moment it doesn't work and if a fix will be added
Thanks

smartfinder  Home )  2012-11-16 12:57:04 ( ID:qdm08jb1tfc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

DTS-HD and Dolby-THD are a mix of (DTS + MLP) or (AC3 + MLPs), MLP is a codec used in DVD-Audio, and is equivalent to FLAC, the ideal would be to use PCM, PCM is not easily accessible from MLP insert in DTS-HD or Dolby-THD, there are tools like EAC3TOOLS but generally only extract AC3 or DTS audio "CORE" no "MLP". If we obtain PCM from DTS-HD or Dolby-THD is just the problem for seamless editing, PCM is the origin of all sound master, AC3 is a convenient alternative.

Question - .ts files no master No.66950
Plato  2012-11-02 06:41:29 ( ID:iz1k.s2bpwc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,
What is the specs of file that cannot set as master ?
I see other files except .ts that can be master.
(mp4).ts dvb files why must be always rescue ??

I would like to cut the commercials of a movie for example,
without reencode !
is this possible?

Thanks

tkrave  2012-11-03 08:11:15 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It depends on the actual video stream parameters. For instance, if the bitrate is too high for the level, it won't be smart renderable.

Post the specs of your video here if you can. You can use MediaInfo to get the specs.

I don't see anything wrong with the file in terms of format specifications, but I'm no expert.
Have you been importing it with the Source Wizard's TS file importer?

Yes i did
I tried with and without TS file importer
and i get same result: always rescue :(
I could upload a small sample, if it helps

Thanks for your answer anyway !

I have the same problems. My 720p ts files recorded from germany DVB-C channel ARD-HD could not be set as master. But these are the only files I need to smart-cut because after a reencode with Mastering Works 5, the filesize is bigger with a bit lower quality. There are some recordings I would like to keep the original bitrate and encoding. I only need to cut the start an endpoint.
Where can I read the specs necessary for smartcut ability. All my tested files wasn't able. I have Editor 3 and if none of my h264 TS Files will work, I don't need an upgrade.

I'm testing TMSR4 without 3D rendering right now.
Immediately apparent is there is no DTS input audio support.

Being able to input h.264 video with DTS audio would be a nice feature.
Many blu-ray video have DTS audio.

Transcode DTS to AC3 with "DVDFab" RIP M2TS mode. Now you can edit video TMSR4 H264 or MPEG2, VC1 unfortunately is not natively supported by CUDA in software PEGASYS.

this error message:

Cannot use the 3D transition function. . .
please install DirectX 9 (Direct3d 9) Graphics device with DirectX End-user runtimes (June 2010 or later).

Free talk - TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4 is Available NOW! No.66930
Development team  Home )  2012-10-25 12:08:32 ( ID:uexq2jhhhql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The successor to the popular TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 3 is here, which is completely Rebuilt With H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Smart Rendering Plus Other New Features!

TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4 allows users to import a wide variety of MPEG file formats and container types, then losslessly edit the files at the frame-level for fast, precise and high-quality output. Besides standard MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video, container formats such as TS, MKV, FLV and MOV are also supported. DVD-Video, Blu-ray and AVCHD video files can also be easily imported with the help of an import wizard. Audio-wise, MP2, MP3, AC3 (Dolby Digital), EC3 (Dolby Digital Plus), WAV, AAC, HE-AAC, and FLAC formats can be imported.

The greatest innovation is the new Smart Rendering engine. Smart Rendering allows MPEG video to be edited, split, and joined with minimal re-encoding at output. This results in extremely fast output and little to no quality loss since unedited parts of the video are not changed in any way.

The included cut editor is built with editing HD videos in mind; users can easily customize the interface to allow better viewing of HD video. Editing controls and panels can be minimized or resized, and the video preview can be zoomed-in and scrollable so every detail can be seen, even on the smallest monitors.

Editing features include the ability to cut out unwanted portions of a video clip, split a clip into multiple clips, add keyframes, create transition effects and apply audio filters.

Other features include input and Smart Rendering support for the popular GoPro HD (HERO/HERO2) and Contour video cameras, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC encoding using the world-renowned x264 encoder, Blu-ray BDAV authoring, and much more.

Notable New Features:
Input-related

MP4, TS, MKV, FLV and MOV container support for H.264/MPEG-4 encoded video.
MKV container support for MPEG-2 and H.264 video.
Rescue function that allows importing a mix of different video formats and sizes. *Rescue files will be re-encoded.
Auto mode automatically determines how much of the video can be smart rendered depending on the input file.
Import Blu-ray or AVCHD video files by title (VC-1 format not supported).
MPEG-2 TS analysis function identifies multi-stream video such as mixed-resolution video streams.
Supports input of up to 8 audio streams.
Target Indicator allows you to check possible output formats in advance.
Instant Quick Preview allows you to check a video's contents without opening the clip editor.
Dolby Digital Plus audio support. *Dobly Digital Plus audio will be treated (or processed) as Dolby Digital audio by the program.

Editing related

Undo/Redo option in almost all editing windows.
Integrates our advanced Intuitive Draw Technology for fast preview rendering. CUDA decoder / Intel Media decoder compatible.
Improved preview screen allows full-screen preview, zoom, position and other settings perfect for viewing and examining HD material.
Minimize editing controls that you don't need.
Increased detail and editability for the Clip Information panel.
Add audio streams and select between various configurations. *Up to 8 audio streams can be added.
Batch cut feature for multiple selections.
Display scaling adjusts the button sizes to the display size of the edit screen.
Add and edit text overlays.
Add monochromatic clips.
Add transition effects, including 3D transitions.

Output related:

Supports H.264/MPEG-4 AVC smart rendering.
Supports smart rendering of AAC audio.
FLAC audio format output support
Output support for BDMV/BDAV MPEG files for Blu-ray
Supports MPEG file output for AVCHD.
Supports H.264/MPEG-4 AVC BDAV authoring.
Supports writing an Appendix for BDAV authoring.
Uses the x264 encoder for (part of) H.264/MPEG-4 AVC re-encoding.
GoPro HD (HERO/HERO2) smart rendering output support (non-standard resolutions not supported).

Other

Supports "regular output function", which allows outputting a file automatically by parameters set in advance.
Access the Start-up Launcher Tools from any stage in the main window.
Plus other new features!

I have just tried out the trial version of Smart Renderer 4 on a sample MPEG2 transport stream containing high-definition DVB-S2 broadcast material (MPEG4 video plus 2 audio tracks plus 2 subtitle tracks), to see how it compares with the competing product "FameRing SmartCutter".

The program was easy to use and cut the video accurately. The only 2 issues I noticed were:

1. The program does not copy across subtitle streams. When editing MPEG transport streams, FameRing SmartCutter copies all PMTs, ESs and PCRs from source to destination. At the very least I would like to see Smart Renderer 4 copy across the subtitle streams.

2. The program renumbers the PIDs for the audio tracks and does not copy across the language identifier ("eng" or whatever). FameRing SmartCutter preserves all PID values and preserves language info in audio tracks. I don't really care about the renumbering of PIDs, but losing the language info is annoying. It can result in playback software choosing the wrong audio track.
