pangy  2003-02-24 20:35:13 ( ID:mq5na6x/h9. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

when i encode a xvid avi to mpeg it is slightly jerky audio is fine. the original avi ran perfectly. HELP!!!!

Minion  2003-02-24 20:55:27 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sounds like you encoded to the Wrong Frame rate...You have to encode to the same frame rate as the source file...

Question - pal mpg1 to ntsc mpg1 - problem with tmpgenc... No.34830
michaeldcoates  2003-02-24 13:42:47 ( ID:.xueyrgpmg. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi, i've just started using my pc to create vcd's - i upload my videos using my dv player and my firewire card and capture using a ulead product - then i get a huge avi file - so then i use tmpgenc to convert it to to a vcd file (mpg1 - since i'm in the uk i encode it in the pal format) - i then use nero to burn it to a vcd. which is all very well and good for me, the vcd play fine - but my american friend wants a copy and every time i try to convert the mpg1 file in tmpgenc from a pal file to a ntsc file it cuts off 20 seconds at the end of my 23 minute film, which looks dumb.

does anyone know why and if it's possible to rectify the situation? i don't want to have to start from scratch again if i can avoid it.

thanks for any help,
mik x

daveg  2003-02-24 13:37:19 ( ID:eeylgaggea2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Im new to this program could someone tell me how to convert avi files to mpeg I have tried this once and got a great picture but I did not get any sound

Minion  2003-02-24 20:52:45 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Probably need to extract the sound out of the source file to a WAV file with "Virtual Dub" then use the Wav file as the audio source...

You Can NOT use Tmpgenc to convert a Pal File to a NTSC VCD, Tmpgenc doen Not do Proper Frame rate conversions So you will Have Problems with the Playback Being Jumpy or Jerky and the Audio will go out of sync and many other problems can come up...You will have to convert the source files to NTSC before you can encode them with Tmpgenc or you can try Useing AVISynth to frameserve the files and do the Frame rate conversion.....

Question - Audio editing program No.34821
scheng924  2003-02-24 06:25:29 ( ID:s0r7pusud8o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I was wondering where I can get an audio editing program that can let me adjust the audio length to the same length of the video so when I use TMPG to encode it doesn't go out of sync..

Minion  2003-02-24 08:58:28 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There are a Couple good Programs that will do this Like Sound Forge and Cool Edit But What is the Best is Vegas Video cuz you can also load in the Video and adjust the audio length and see if they Line up and Be able to play the File before rendering the new audio file...

scheng924  2003-02-24 15:48:38 ( ID:s0r7pusud8o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I hope that fixes my problem because the problem is when i encode the movie, at the beginning audio and video syncs and after like 1 minute or so it starts to go out of sync and by the end of the movie it's totally out of sync...

Question - simple multiplex error with mp3 file No.34817
confused  2003-02-23 23:43:17 ( ID:1bqarpj25br )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

can anybody please help me?recently i've been having problems with the audio being out of sync on certain xvid avi files.the problem has occured on about 10% of my files.i use virtual dub to create a wav file and altering the vfapi settings in tmpeg does'nt work, not just when encoding with tmpeg but also with panasonic mpeg1 encoder.i've tried different codecs including sld, nimo and divx pro.the files play fine on windows media player but are out of sync when encoded to mpeg1.So i thought i would try to simple multiplex the file having created mp3 audio at 224 k/bps and 44100 hz using dbpower amp.But when i try to select the file i get an error message saying"illegal mpeg audio stream".if i create the mp3 uncompressed using virtual dub i still get the same message. What am i doing wrong?

Minion  2003-02-24 06:24:21 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can"t use the Multiplex on MP3 audio Cuz MP3 is not Compliant for Mpeg video streams, the Only audio format that can be multiplexed to Mpeg video in Tmpgenc is Mpeg1 layer 1 or 2 audio...and different codecs and Multiplexing will not fix your Problem....

jmcunnin2000  2003-02-28 03:48:19 ( ID:kjw.r7uwpp2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

While it is true that using mp3 will not result in a vcd or svcd compliant file, tmpgenc does permit it...otherwise why would you be able to browse to an mp3 in the audio part of the simple multiplex dialogue?

I am having the same problem, specifically that when I export an mp3 audio stream from virtualdub and then try to multiplex it in tmpgenc, I get an Illegal MPEG audiostream error. If I create the mp3 using LAME from within tmpgenc, it multiplexes it fine.

I wouldn't mind knowing what I need to do to mp3 files which come out of virtualdub to get them to work with tmpgenc?

If it is Part of the Video then there is Probably no way to fix it at all, and since it happens when you run it from your harddrive then it seems Not Fixable..

Question - no picture No.34813
L-Train  2003-02-23 22:40:47 ( ID:sbezb30us6n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I tried to play the mpeg after encoding and it didnt work. The audio worked but there was no picture. What did i do wrong?

Minion  2003-02-24 09:02:59 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If there is no Picture in the Window while encodeing then there will not be a Picture in the Mpeg file, you can usually fix this by going to "Options" to "enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the "Direct Show" to "2"...

Question - maintaining widescreen format No.34811
L-Train  2003-02-23 18:39:07 ( ID:sbezb30us6n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a way to convert a divX file to Mpeg while maintaining widescreen picture?
Greatly appreciated
L-Train

Ashy  2003-02-23 19:30:00 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What do you mean widescreen?
Do you mean widescreen for a widescreen TV or widescreen for a normal 4:3 TV?

If it's for Widescreen TV then just set the input and output aspect ratio to 16:9.
If it's 4:3 then set the input to 16:9 and the output to 4:3.
For both set the 'Video arrange method' to 'Fullscreen (keep aspect ratio)'

Bug report - Audio quality problem No.34808
Bas  2003-02-23 18:22:11 ( ID:nbpc6d.5p6. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Video quality is perfect but audio sounds "metal" like.
If I make SVCD with Pinncale Studio V7.01 sound is much better.

Anyone with some tips?

Ashy  2003-02-23 19:26:25 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is because of bad sample rate conversion.

Go to Option>Enviromental setting>audio engine then change the Sampling frequency converter to 'High quality'

ASHY

Bas  2003-02-24 18:18:20 ( ID:nbpc6d.5p6. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanx ASHY,

Can you tell something about audio quality when I use your suggestion compared to using e.g. 'tooLAME' as an external encoder?
In other words which will give te best audio quality?

Is it true when using an external audio encoder I can still get bad results when setting the Sampling frequency convertor to low quality?
