I have a dvd that im trying to format to a 4.7gb size, ive had no problem doing that before but randomly it will stop the output and pop up error 0x80040216 the output has stopped. Then i have to restart and every time the error pops up. does anyone know whats causing this and/or know how to fix it?

I hope somebody here can help me out. I've got an m2v file which I am trying to turn into a DVD. I am also trying to include 2 audio tracks - 1 lpcm, 1 AC3. Here are the bitrates they are encoded in (according to mediainfo):

m2v - 7243 Kbps (9800 Kbps)
lpcm - 1536 Kbps, 48.0 KHz
AC3 - 448 Kbps, 48.0 KHz

I am making a DVD-9.

Here's the problem: With these 3 files loaded into DVD Author 3, here is the warning I get when trying to iutput the DVD:

"The clip's total bitrate is too high for a DVD-Video.
The Clip current total bitrate is 11784 Kb/s. However, in a DVD-Video the clip total bitrate should be lower than 9848 Kb/s.
If you ignore the alerts the DVD_Video you build will not conform to the DVD_Video standard. Do you wish to continue anyway?"

This makes no sense to me. I have used 2 different bitrate calculators to come up with the recommended bitrate for the video file, taking into consideration the total bitrate of both audio files. One recommended 7550 Kbps maximum bitrate for the video and the other recommended 7768 Kbps max, so I went with 7600 max bit rate. If you add the video and audio bitrates I listed above together, you will get 9227 Kbps.

So why is DVD Author 3 telling me the total is 11784 Kbps? That's what you get if you add the 9800 bitrate displayed in mediainfo in parentheses with both audio tracks. But it shouldn't be doing that should it? Gspot lists the m2v video bitrate as 7552 Kbps. So add 7552(m2v) + 1536(lpcm) + 448(AC3), and you get 9576 Kbps, still under the 9848 Kbps max that DVD Author 3 mentions.

So should I just completely ignore the warning and still make the DVD anyways? Why does mediainfo list 9800 Kbps in parentheses if it says the bitrate is 7243 Kpbs? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I use TMPGenc Authoring 3 to make DVDs of satellite video made on a DVD-Ram disc on a Panasonic DVD recorder. Most of the time it works perfectly, but sometimes I get an error message: Code 23, then it simply stops. I haven't found any solution to the problem. Anyone else had or solved this problem? Thanks

I want to create the simplest of menus for a one video output.

All I want is a background image and a play button. Is this possible?

Yes this is possible. Create a custom menu and select a layout with one thumbnail. If you don't want a thumbnail, choose a text-only layout for your track menu. For the menu structure choose "Track Menu only". In the menu editor, you can change you background to whatever image you want by double-clicking on it. This will open a new window where you can choose a new image.

You'll have a link called "Chapter 1" or something like that. If you want to hide it, click on the "Global DVD Menu Settings" button and go to the "Chapter display" tab. Unchecking the box next to Chapter 1 will hide it. You can do the same for the Menu Title as well.

I'm trying to remove some logo's using DeLogo filter in Virtualdub MPEG2. I have a DVD in "VOB format" and i use the frame server funktion in Virtualdub MPEG2. I open the server file in TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 and follow the wizard.....

Now to the problem.

When I press Start output button, it says:

Unsupported file. (error code 0x80048003)"

Output preview is okay, subtitles and audio is appears and its running well.

I have a DVD I want to re-author. As far as video quality is concerned, am I better off using TMPGEnc Xpress to encode the original DVD's video content into an MPEG file and then use that MPEG file as the source for my re-authored DVD, or am I better off just using the original DVD's VOB files as my source files for the re-authored DVD? I was planning on using 2-pass VBR as my video encoding scheme in either case. Seems like the 2nd option would be best as it avoids another encoding step, but I'm not sure if there any differences between the encoding engines in TMPGEnc Xpress and DVD Author 3.

I am using TMPEG DVD Authoring 3 and is there a way to delay the activate button for a few seconds after the title page has loaded??

What I have done is:
created a dvd title page that fades in and then the play movie and scene selection fonts fade in..I want to, AFTER the play movie and scene secletion, font has faded in to have the active frame around either of them to then press the play button

This is not possible and I don't believe it ever will be. So why do some commercial DVDs appear to be able to do this? Simple. Their transitions into and out of menus are video files. Usually, you can see when the video ends and the actual menu begins by a slight pause or the text will become sharper, but some DVDs hide it rather well such as the Lord of the Rings menus.

Unfortunately, DVD Author 3 (and Authoring Works 4) doesn't let you use video files to transition between menus. However, it is possible to use the first-play track as a way to transition into your menu when you first insert the DVD.

When i start up the programme, it verifys the license, then carrys on loading, then i get this message every time 'At address 000A1135, read error occurred against address 000A1135'
