TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring BBS [ Sorted by thread creation date ]
Sorry about that Load source file as normal. Once in Clip addition i.e. clip propertises. Next tab Cut edit @ top select. On the next screen just above (bottem right) cancel there is an icon. check it a menu will be displayed select Keyframe tool. Its easy after that.
Thank you choco8l for your prompt reply. Version 3 seems very inflexible compared to 1.5. I recorded five episodes given on the same evening of 'Red Dwarf' and using Ver. 3 I transfered them to hard disk. Unfortunately version 3 didn't allow me to split the recording into five titles by editing. The first track could be edited but the hard disk copy was not recognized by the program when further tracks were added. Multiediting of the same video is a task which is readily done by version 1.5. Is there any way around this?
Splitting one large file: Use TMPGEnc DVD Auth (TDA) OR TMPGEnc DVD Source Creator (TDSC) Steps are similar but the concept is EXACTLY the same.
In either utility right after you add the one big file, right click on it & choose to Duplicate (to make copy) make as many copies as there are episodes. You would have to know your file really well to know where the episodes start if you don't ther typically is some sort of brake/interval/blackscreen inbetween. Now click on Edit & in the window that pops up along the bottom click the button "Select Start Frame" then drag the slider right under the vid file to where the 1st break/title/episode ends & click the button "Set End Frame" now go to the big square button (Above "cancel") and click on it ... u will get a few options from which you would choose "Cut Unselected Parts" Then Clik "Ok" Repeat steps with all clips each thime setting the "Set In Frame" & "Set End Frame" where you want the one big file to be split.
A> If you use TDA Add enough "tracks" for all your seperated clips & move one to each, in succession that u want them to play. To make a menu or not is up to your preference. If you do make a menu there is an option for the resulting DVD to return to Top Menu AFTER each clip plays or to keep playing non stop.
B> If you use TDSC the last Tab of the utility (Output)will show a drop down box & give you the option to output all the files in one folder or seperately.
Just posting this in your reply to avoid making ANOTHER post .... lol
K so now to the question I had posted about creating a 2 Pg Menu - does No One Know how to do this ??!!
I recently bought TMPGEnc Ver. 3 and there are at least two problems:
1. The program sometimes does not recognise video on a DVD+RW disk recorded on my Liteon DVD recorder. Never had this problem with version 1.5.
2. When taking video files from my hard disk the program makes the clip as 'Full Rendered' which uses about twice as much disk space. Is there any way of preventing this or changing 'Full' to 'Smart' rendering?
TDA v.3.1.1.174 & prev v.3 when one adds a clip in the track menu, there is a button for "settings" for each track - click on this for options;
A window with 4 tabs opens: choose "video" tab & set "encoder mode" to Automatic (Smart rendering prioritized)that should take care of your issue. As for the size of the end product that can be adjusted from the last tab "Output" : go to target size & set per your preference. Also back on the Track - Settings - Video, Tab there is a "Rate Control Mode" 2 pass ofcourse results in better quality & VBR will designate more vid info when there is more info to be converted, eg: during a scene where there is lots of fast movement or a Panaromic scene with...lets say smoke n explosions as opposed to a face shot of someone talking. One Pass is faster & 2 passes takes longer BUT CBR ie: Constant Bit Rate is fastest as it allocates the info evenly over the whole vid. Difference is not THAT much but I prefer 2 pass VBR. Now there are 3 lil boxes under "Rate Control Mode" & the lower a number one chooses the smaller the information output (thought not technically correct - it is best way for me to explain it)- eg: VHS would be a lower bit rate than say HDVD
About the prog not recogonising your Rewritable media, most generic drives (per popular belief) have issues reading em - that said I have no definate answer for you on that...sorry.
Hope I have been some help.
Looking on step by step or any kind of info on how to make a simple 2 page menu in a manner that the 1st page has one 120 sec A/V (looped motion menu) a "Play All" Button and an "Select Episode" button.. Play all of course would play all clips/vids/episodes whatever one may call them & the "Select" Vid/Episode/Clip track etc. button takes me to Pg 2. On Pg 2 there is a 120 sec A/V clip (looped motion menu) & fading in on top of this menu are 4 little motion menus (60 secs vid only - no audio) of the 4 tracks/clips/vids etc. Page 2 also has a "Main Menu" button to take me back to pg 1 or the Main Menu.
Now if I click on any of these 4 little motion menus - only that whole Clip/track plays (with audio) All this I have done BUT the ONLY trouble now is that if I select any vid from Pg 2 it continues to play the every vid till the last one & then returns to Pg 1 ie: main Menu. What I would like to know is how to make a selection from pg 2 so that only that vid plays & after it ends the 2 pg appears...so I can either select another vid or go to Main Menu to Play All. Been trying to do this since Nov 19 & have searched the net to no avail.
Any help would be really appreciated as now it is over 30 days & I have exceeded the return window.
Make sure each separate video is registered as a separate track in the Source stage. If all of your videos are in the same track, they will just play one after the other like you described. Use the "Add a track" button to add tracks to your project, then add an episode to each track.
When you get to the Menu stage, you have to choose to create a Custom Menu and click "Next..."
The next screen should be the "Menu structure mode settings." Choose "Structure the menu in standard mode" and check the "Create a Title page in the Top menu" option. Click "Next..." when finished.
Next, layout your menu as you wish. Your Top Menu should have multiple thumbnails since this will be your episode selection page. Click "Next..." when finished.
Next is the "DVD menu structure setting" page. You will need a Top menu, but I'm guessing you won't need the track menu unless you want to see all of the chapters of an episode. So you would choose "Top menu only" or "Top and track menu." Click "Next..." when done.
Finally, we have the "DVD playback settings." Here you should choose "Display the top menu" for the DVD insertion action, and "Display the top menu" for the playback end action. Click "OK" when done.
And that's basically it! If you chose not to have track menus, it will be a 2 page menu almost exactly as you described. Unfortunately, after track playback, it will always go back to the 1st page (the title page) and not the episode selection page (top menu).
If this doesn't work for you, I think your only other option is to not have the title page and only have the episode selection page (top menu). Then it will always go back to the top menu after an episode is done playing.
You may have to alter some of the buttons to get the text you want ("Select Episode").
Im using a trial version of TMPGEnc Xpress, there's an filter option (under resize) to set a mask using the color of your choice. This is great for getting rid of overscan noise at the top of the video i'm using to create a 16:9 DVD.
My question: I'm looking for the same filter option for the application that I bought, which is TMPGEng DVD Author 3.0. I bought this application because I want to create a custom menu and more for my DVD. So, does DVD Author 3.0 offer a the same resize (and mask) filter? If not, are there plans to add this option? DVD Author would be the complete package for me if this option was available in it.
I am looking to purchase TMPGEng DVD Author 3.0. However, I have experienced several problems in the demo version. I am most frustrated that I am unable to play individual chapters. Once clip 1 starts it goes to clip 2, then 3, etc. No matter what I do it will not go back to the main selection menu. How have you been able to overcome this? Thanks for your response.
Peter
You can't just play one chapter and then have it go back to the menu. What you want to do is make each chapter into a track. Only tracks can have the option of going back to the track menu or top menu after playback is finished.
Also, this only applies to DVD's and not DivX projects. You can change the settings for the menu in the "Global DVD menu settings" or via the Menu Wizard.
