How can I move a chapter button to the next menu page. I have 6 chapters on my 2nd menu page, but they are lengthy titles and don't fit. The 3rd menu page (which is the last menu page) has only 4 chapters, so I want to move the last chapter button on page 2 to page 3.
Hi. I have been using TDA 1.6 for a year or so now and am generally very happy with it.
However I have just started to try making my own buttons, and am having no success in achieving transparency. I do not have PhotoShop but use PaintShop Pro 8 which has full layer facilities. It also allows files to be saved as '.PSD'. So I created a single raster layer button, which shows transparency correctly in PSP8 (and also in The GIMP). But in TDA, when I replace the Play All button with my PSD, it is *not* transparent. It appears inside a solid white rectangle.
I cannot understand the instructions in TDA Help, which anyway are written for PhotoShop. Can anyone either explain how to do this from PaintShop Pro, or better still send me an example PSD file so that I can examine it carefully to see what is 'special' that lets it appear in TDA as transparent.
You can't delete that, its a necessary button to link to your video without it, the menu won't know where your movie chapters are.
This software doesnt freely let you modify everything, especially since DVD menu standards aren't flexible. It will take some learning but you'll eventually get it, not very hard to use. If you want to change how your button looks then go in menu setting and import your own picture instead of deleting that button.
Not my first usage of DVD Author 3, but my first in using 8 hour DVD-RAM.
I was using the Source Wizard to import a PANNY burned DVD-RAM that had 8 hours.
The import failed with an I/O error about the time it had readed close to 6 hours.
Can DVD Author 3 handle more than a 6 hours DVD-RAM?
Did you tell it to copy the disk to HDD? I'm guessing the hardware might not have been able to keep up with the read/write and possibly decode for that long? Try a direct copy to HDD using Windows Explorer or something then try importing from the HDD. Should correct your problem.
I made a compilation of clips from dvds of a TVshow. I separated each clip with a second of black video from the show, so the audio/video format is all compatible. It came out fine, burned a dvd, etc. Now I want to add more clips to it, so I'm loading a snippet of black, a clip, then the first compilation I made, then another clip. The audio starts to lose sync near the end of the first compilation.
I tried loading the first compilation video file several times into the project, separating each clip, and this improved the sync, but at the end of soem of these clips the A/V is either slightly shortened, or hiccups. So it's not a perfect solution.
Sounds like you got a mess going on there, so i'm trying to get it straighten out before I can help. Why not use the original source DVD for your clips if you are redo-ing to add more? What do you mean "A/V format is all compatible"? Im a bit confused by this because adding a second of black video doesn't make two separate clips compatible. This also might be where your problem is for the re-authoring.
I might have to start fresh, but I wanted to avoid borrowing the 20 (retail) dvds, finding/copying the scenes to the computer, and editing them down in TDA. And since I already did it once, seems like I shouldn't have to.
For aesthetic reasons, I wanted to separate each clip with a second of black video. When you add a clip in TDA, the Audio and Video Input format info is displayed in the "Add Clip" window. Or if you click on "Clip Info". If you try to combine clips and the audio is not the same bitrate, it will sometimes throw off the sync. I should have just said ALL clips (the scenes and the moment of black) are from the same retail series of dvds, with the same audio/video specs (the same A/V formats) so format differences are not the problem.
That clears things up a bit, have you tried using the clip link option in Track setting? That might work. If not then check what audio format your source uses and try to extract it then convert to WAVE, this might work.
Last resort is to do all your editing outside of TDA3 and create your file then import it into TDA3. Use TMPGEnc Xpress or MPEG Editor to edit your file, they are more flexible to fixing video/audio issues. Could also try a 3rd party encoder to fix it.
FYI this page is for TDA 1.5/1.6 (I'm using 1.6), not TDA3.
I'm unclear about the "clip link option in Track setting." If I click on "Track Settings" for the track, I get a window with Audio and Video format info. The video is not changeable, but the audio is. Are you suggesting I re-encode the audio for the old compilation?
Actually, since the new clips and old compilation are in the same track, it would re-encode all the audio. But the only way it will re-encode is if I change the audio bitrate (which I don't need to do).
I have TMPgenc Plus 2.5, but am unsure how to use it accurately (I don't have a handle on when to use pulldown, framerate, etc., and it seems to change them if you don't set it correctly).
Opps, Guess I use TDA3 too often and immediately assumed the same software for you. That option isn't in any of the older versions, best way to have your video playback smoothly is to pre-edit them outside of TDA with some external editing programs then encode it as one big file then import it to TDA. From there you can always use the keyframe/chaptering tool to create your chapters.
I'm guessing your using TMPGEnc 2.5, which doesn't support WAV files for multiplexing. You need AC3 or MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio for it to work, so try converting your wave file to AC3 or MP2 then multiplex shouldn't give you an error.
I tried to author a dvd the other day and got to the final step. When I clicked write to dvd button it told me that I hadn't configured my dvd burner. I clicked on the button and it said the that the drive was stopped. Can anyone help? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive but no game. Thanks a ton.
Check for a process called "bgsvcgen.exe" in your task manager. If its not there then you will need to turn it back on. Right click My Computer > Manage > Expand services and applications > services > double click on "B's Recorder Gold General Service Library > then start the service and set it to auto start on system boot up.
I successfuly set up "TMPGEnc DVD Author v3.0.5.149" on my laptop,
but encountered problem when set up on my desk computer.
The hint are as below,
"The wizards was interrrupted before TMPGenc DVD Author 3 with Divx Anthoring could be completely installed.
Your system has not been modifiled. To complete installation at another time, please run setuo again.
Click Finish to exit the wizard."
That's it.
My stestem is XP With SP2, and system disk in fat32 format. Is that the problem, or should I turn on any of the system services?
Awaiting for your reply,Thank you!
Just had a quick question I was hoping someone could help me with.
I use TMPGEnc to burn DVDs, and I’ve generally been satisfied with it. Starting today I have encountered a problem I have never seen before.
When I attempt to burn a DVD, the whole process appears to proceed as normal. It takes the usual amount of time, it appears to be doing what it’s usually doing, it tells me it’s been completed successfully, etc.
But the DVD itself remains (apparently) blank. I put it in and it does not play, and when I check the contents of that drive when it is inserted, it shows nothing.
I’m wondering if it has something to do with how it’s interacting with Windows. I have Windows XP, and while I have burned DVDs successfully since I’ve had that, I know there are frequent automatic Windows updates, and maybe one of those changed something that’s screwed up TMPGEnc.
Or if it’s something I intentionally did, I think I know the most likely culprit. A few days ago, for I think the first time, I burned a CD using whatever comes with Windows XP. I don’t remember the exact process, but I remember I used Windows rather than any additional software like TMPGEnc.
Could it be that that somehow reconfigured something on my computer to where when a blank something is placed in that drive, it can only do something with it through Windows and blocks any other software like TMPGEnc?
In any case, how do I reset it so TMPGEnc is again able to communicate with my computer so I can burn DVDs?
On most programs when I double click their output files... the program opens up...
With TMPGEnc DVD Author... I can only open it from within the program... and the file better not have been moved from the original folder!
Is there any way you can "fix" it so that you can click the tda file and open the project? Thus be able to: 1) move the file from the folder originally used? or 2) rename the folder? or 3) rename the file?
This would be very helpful for archiving purposes.
