Request - Output size No.62357
ross  2009-11-18 10:11:46 ( ID:b0dbz2orooj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Created bluray discs fine without problems, but my first attempt at a DL disc seemed to go fine until I looked at the output folder. I set output size to 50gb and it created OK, but just before burning I noticed the size of folder was only 38gb. Shouldn't this folder be close to 50gb?

tkrave  2009-11-18 17:47:14 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When you set the output size to 50gb, it doesn't mean it will always be that big, it just means it won't go over 50 gb. If you have lots of content that would go over 50gb, it will adjust the output settings so that it will fit within the 50gb limit.

You most likely don't have enough content to reach 50gb, and/or your bitrates aren't high enough to reach the 50gb limit.

ross  2009-11-18 18:02:38 ( ID:2iesvzz0lea )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry meant to add that I had 51gb of video, then set output target to 50 and the final folder to write ended up with 38. Any ideas?

tkrave  2009-11-18 20:57:44 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ah, I see. Some people have reported that the transcode feature makes the files too small instead of getting as close to 50gb as possible. I'm guessing its calculations aren't very refined. You might be better off adjusting the bitrates manually (in the Source stage-->track settings) until it's just under 50gb and selecting "none" as the output size.

ross  2009-11-19 09:21:09 ( ID:18en6biw/on )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for the help TK. Tried the way you suggested and it worked. Used the 51gb of video and did not set an output size, then I reduced bit rate in one of the poorer quality videos bringing it down to just under 50gb. Created and the final folder was 49gb.

Just out of curiosity I tried another 25 BD project. Used 26gb of video and set output to 25. The final folder ended up 19gb. So I tried again, without setting output level, just reducing bit rate on one until I reached the 25 mark, and it worked fine, the final folder was just under 25 - perfect for the disc.

It seems that adjusting the rates manually is the best way to go - if you let the program do it then it reduces them too much. Once again, thanks.

I have the same problem now and then.
There seems to be some conflict with TMPG and the anti-virus program I run.

You could try shutting down internet access (if any) and disable any anti-virus program before loading TMPG and see if that makes a difference.

I know that I couldn't load the latest version of Authoring Works 4 with the anti-virus running. A suggestion on this forum was to reformat the hard disk. However, once I disabled the anti-virus the program installed immediately.

When I have the anti-virus running concurrently, it takes up to 5 minutes to get to the project screen on Authoring Works 4. Occasionally it will stall as you describe in your question. If I disable the anti-virus program before I load TMPG it gets to the project screen very quickly. Then I enable the anti-virus progam once TMPG loads.

I hope that this helps. Perhaps the gurus in the forum have some insights on how to manage the conflict between the anti-virus and TMPG.

Question - What size are buttons? No.62352
Mr. Button  2009-11-15 22:45:40 ( ID:a8biezwvmu2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I want to make custom buttons. What size are they? Can I create a .jpg or .gif and then save in the \Program Files\Pegasys Inc\TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4\Template\Button directory?

OR do I have to use the built in editor?

tkrave  2009-11-16 18:00:20 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The best way is to use photoshop to create your buttons and use the Menu Item Tool (Start stage-->Advanced Tools-->Menu Item Tool-->Create a button item) to import the .psd file make a custom button set.

The size of the buttons can be any size, but you should make them bigger rather than smaller so they don't get pixelated if you resize them in the menu editor.

All the buttons should be in one .psd file, each on a separate layer. Read the help file for how to name your layers in photoshop so the menu item tool knows which layer is which button.

Question - DVD region codes - DRM No.62349
Janet  2009-11-14 20:12:16 ( ID:ygvgdppkkoo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi Everyone,

I have TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4. I want to set my DRM to play in any country. Can this be done? How is it done? When I sell my DVD through my website I don't want to have to find out which region the customer is in.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code
This URL explains DRM.

Thanks for your help
Janet

Bushwalker  2009-11-14 23:33:46 ( ID:wvawrvupmu. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi Janet,

DRM is not supported by TAW 4, which means your DVD's will not be encoded into any region code hence they will be played in any country. Keep in mind though that your DVD's will not be copyright protected.

Janet  2009-11-15 05:19:07 ( ID:ygvgdppkkoo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for that. Have a great week ahead, :)

When I want to write to a disc I get the following message
The writing drive is stopped. Can anybody help plse?

tkrave  2009-11-05 19:23:01 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you been able to burn discs before with this program or is this your first time using it?

It's possible that your particular drive is incompatible or you may need to update the drivers.

Dries  2009-11-06 05:40:14 ( ID:wc8tywbstpj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes it worked perfectly, but I uninstalled nero, since then it did not want to write, In the meantime I uninstalled nero and even repaired my adope premier but stil get the same message.
Thanking you much apprecaite your willingness to help me
Dries

tkrave  2009-11-07 01:40:25 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Possible solution:

Right-click on "My Computer" then go to Manage-->Services and Applications-->Services.

See if "B's Recorder GOLD" is started. If it is stopped or paused, then start it.

Vig  2009-11-10 21:02:03 ( ID:0tjpjmo4g1. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

B's Recorder GOLD error 2: The system cannot find the file specified
I cannot start this process.
I have Win XP 64, Core i7 940, 12Gb Ram.

Marco  2009-12-27 06:18:50 ( ID:5pmm0eclpim )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have the similar question

I have i7 860, 4G RAM, WinXP 64-bit.
when I start the service "B's Recorder GOLD", it gives out "B's Recorder GOLD error 2: The system cannot find the file specified". Then I install Nero instead to write the file to DVD.

I think TMPG Authorworks does not support writing to disc in WinXP 64-bit,

Question - problems importing large m2v files No.62342
Stephen Tarr  2009-11-05 06:39:02 ( ID:srrqx76zref )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is anyone else having troubles importing large m2v files? Everything works fine for me when importing smaller files (less than 2 GB, or about 30 minutes), but when I try to import a larger file (about 2.3 GB, 37 minutes), the video is truncated after 1 second.

I can import longer video clips directly from a DVD -- I'm just having trouble importing bare MPEG-2 video clips.

Question - Help with Menu Creation No.62336
Slfreire  2009-11-05 00:42:04 ( ID:morw/3hdqfj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello

In TMW4 I am trying to make a menu with the following structure:

1. A Top Menu with the Play a Tracks buttons
2. A track menu (page1) within all tracks

Each clip is in one track.

My request: When a access the track menu and I select a particular track, after play that track, I would like to have the option to return to the track menu page and of course select another track to play, instead to return to the Top Menu page.

How can I do that ?

Thanks in advance

Slfreire

tkrave  2009-11-05 19:18:23 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you want.

In your Top Menu, do you just want one button to access the Track Menu and that's all that is on the page?

In your Track Menu, you want to list all of the tracks and be able to select which one you want to play?

Do you require menu pages where you can select the chapters of a track?

Regarding your request, what you are describing is exactly how the Top Menu works.

Not sure if it's exactly what you want, but this is what I would do:

-Make a custom menu.
-Create a title page in the Top Menu.
-Select your desired menu layout, buttons, background, etc.
-Either choose Top Menu only or Top and Track menu (if you want chapter menus).
-For the "Track playback end" option select "Display the top menu".

The title page becomes what you describe as your top menu.
The top menu becomes what you describe as your track menu.

Slfreire  2009-11-05 23:24:02 ( ID:qboqbxwjsoh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Tkrave

Thank you for the help.

I followed exactly what you described in your post.

Then I got a Top Menu with a Title Menu and a Page 1. The page 1 contains the list of tracks, alright ?

Now, after run the Simulation Phase, what I got ?

I did get a Menu page with the title, the play all button and the track button, ok ?

When I selected the Track Button I will go to the page 1 which contains the list of tracks, the play and the return button.

After playing one selected track I would like to go to the page 1 instead of the title menu.

Your scheme do not seem to do that.

Thanks
Slfreire

tkrave  2009-11-06 18:21:11 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You're right - it goes back to the title page. Sorry, I forgot that it would do that.
I'm afraid that's the closest you can get to what you want though.

Yes, i do miss the function of chosing to return to a or the menu if a track or clip has played. My old software used to have this!

I have tried using TMPGEnc Authoring 4 with Windows 7 64bit and it doesn't work for me. When I load a file to create a dvd the Clip-Edic wont play the video or audio. I can see the video when I start the output process and the video outputs fine, but still no audio. I've tried this with many different files and still the same result.

Question - How can I remove embedded subtiltles? No.62328
Wilfredo  2009-11-04 18:47:59 ( ID:pct73tybul. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a video with two embedded subtitles, but none of them are of my interest. I want to import a file and use that as a subtitle.

How can I delete those subs? This is possible with other programs like this one, but I can't seem to find a way to do it with Authoring Works 4.

Thanks for any comment.
Wilfredo.

tkrave  2009-11-05 18:26:20 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What kind of video file is it? You will need to use a separate program to remove the subtitles because you won't be able to do it with Authoring Works 4.

Wilfredo  Home )  2009-12-17 20:56:11 ( ID:9cd2htpdzwf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Videos are mostly MKV and they have 2 or 3 subs. I can use ConvertXtoDVD for that.

Although I think TMPGEAW4 should do it just the same.

Question - Support for .mtv files No.62324
vanpsmtg  2009-11-01 15:58:26 ( ID:befkjjdhcnk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Will there be support for .wtv video files in future releases. The wtv file is the defalt format used in recorded videos in Windows 7 Media Center. I would like to be able to burn some recorded TV programs to DVD without having to go through the process of first converting them to dvr-ms and then to avi to get them to work in Authoring Works 4.
Thanks

vanpsmtg  2009-11-02 17:52:44 ( ID:befkjjdhcnk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In case tgere is anyone out there with the same issue, I have found a simple solution. There is a free app called WTV Converter that converts WTV files to a DVR-MS file that Aythoring Works 4 can import. It takes a long time to load but once it does it can be edited just fine.
It can be downloaded at:
http://forums.vso-software.fr/convert-wtv-to-dvd-new-mce-windows-7-video-format-t9479.html
