Question - Wich to use, normalization or unifomization? No.63277
Adasat  2010-06-27 01:00:03 ( ID:2gangkjhldh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi

When adjusting the audio I am not sure which is the best to use, normalization or unifomization.

I want all clips to have about the similar volume level though the imported video files have different levels. I use unifomization but I unfortunately do not understand the difference excplined in the help file.

Unfortunately the help file does not say in wich type of situations you are supposed to use any particular of these two settings.

Request - Audio filter box - 3 Suggestions No.63275
Adasat  2010-06-27 00:37:28 ( ID:2gangkjhldh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

As I mix a lot of sources in my DVD's I normally have to make volume adjustments for every clip in the audiofilter box of the clip editor. I have some suggestions there to smoothen the workflow.

1. It would be very convenient if you could open the audio filter box straight from Cliplist window, like it you do with the transition editor.

2. As in the transition editor, it would also be very practical to have the option "apply to all clips" for the audio filter box settings.

3. I would also simplify a lot if you could save any personlized audio filter settings for easy access to the most often used combinations.

Question - .mov conversion? No.63264
ccgoudie  2010-06-25 07:57:43 ( ID:3/z0k74zo2h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have some POV HD .mov video files which I would like to
convert to HDV (M2V) files. Is this possible with AW4?
I've used it to output .mpg files.

Thanks,

Question - no subtitle showing up on a mkv format No.63260
imation10  2010-06-24 12:29:54 ( ID:m5gg3tkepll )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Im adding a mkv format with sub. But when I view the video I don't see any sub. There no files withing the video just the mkv. Does Tmpgenc authoring 4 support this?

piccolo135  2010-06-24 21:05:29 ( ID:syktnfge1qh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

have you activated the subtitle stream after importing the mkv?

I tried to install TAW 4.0.11.39 several time, but the setup process just couldn't be completed. It always ended with - "......Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time please run setup again."
Does anyone know how to solve the problem? Thanks!

Which version of the .NET framework are you running?

Also, presumably you were connected to the internet at the time?

Question - Adding track after menu created No.63224
macnab  2010-06-15 15:15:04 ( ID:m1hqrbnlrva )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a 2 volume project. Volume 1 with 7 tracks, Volume 2 with 9. I created Volume 1 with 8, instead of 9, tracks in the menu. Removed one track on source page. Created disk and then used Save as to do Volume 2.

It was then that I realised that I am a track short in the menu. Is there any (relatively) easy way of changing the menu to 9 tracks, short of painstakingly re-creating the menu, copying all settings one by one from Volume 1?

tkrave  2010-06-16 07:03:08 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There's a way to save menu item effects as a template so you don't have to go in and redo all of your effects. For instance, if you have a couple of effects (blur, outer shadow, etc.) applied to a track thumbnail, you can save the settings for that menu item so you can easily apply them to other menu items.

There's also an option to copy the menu item layout of a page and apply it to another page. You can find this option by clicking the "Edit menu" button towards the bottom of the Menu Stage.

macnab  2010-06-16 15:09:27 ( ID:m1hqrbnlrva )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Of course, the template specifies layout, effects, etc - NOT the number of tracks.

tkrave  2010-06-17 05:37:01 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe I'm not understanding the problem here.

If you want to add a track, just go back to the Source stage and add the ninth track. It will automatically use whatever base layout you selected in the wizard.

If you made changes such as menu item effects, or moved things around, then you'll have to copy the menu item layout to the new page and apply the menu item effects to the items you changed.

Request - Browse fuction for missing files - suggestion No.63215
Adasat  2010-06-14 00:00:21 ( ID:2gangkjhldh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Often I find I have to redo all the settings applied (title, chapter labels, transitions and other) as I open a old projekt and get the error message "file is not found / cancel".

As I move around my files sometimes due to lack of HD space, I really would appreciate a MISSING FILE BROWSING OPTION there, to locate the files I might have moved.

This would save me an enormous amount of time, now spent reconstructing the various settings of the tracks.

My guess is that such a browsing function shouldn't be that hard to integrate in this otherwise extremely userfriendy high end DVD-editing software.

tkrave  2010-06-15 06:31:01 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This function is already present.

At the Start stage, open a saved project and open the project file in question.
An error message will appear for each source file it can't find. Each error message has a "Browse.." button that you can click to select the new path for the source file. Do that for each source file and you'll be good to go!

Adasat  2010-06-22 06:58:12 ( ID:2gangkjhldh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Unfortunately I do not have this button :(

I made a screendump of my error message and as you can se here: http://www.adastramedia.com/TMPGenc/Error.gif the browse button is just not there.

Could it be that I always use DVD VIDEO_TS - files (from my harddisk drive) for input? Or is it maybe that I never use the proxy function?

??

tkrave  2010-06-22 09:05:31 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Looks like the "Browse.." button doesn't show up for .vob files. You'll have to copy the .vob file to the directory the project thinks it should be in.

To find out where to put the file, use the "Project file check tool". From the start stage, click on the "Advanced Tools" button, then choose "Project file check tool". Load your project file and it will show a list of the file used in the project and where they should be located on your computer.

Question - Why does AW4 re-encode my MPEG-2 No.63210
David Singletary  2010-06-13 12:32:38 ( ID:wyttuazbina )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I use AW4 to make Blu-ray videos. The MPEG-2 I am importing into AW4 is 23 GB. The Blu-ray capacity is 25 GB. Why does my clip in AW4 always show FR-full render, meaning when I go to burn the disk, AW4 re-encodes my entire MPEG-2 which takes 7 hours? I want my clip to indicate SR-Smart render.

halfpipe  2010-06-14 20:45:26 ( ID:uggl1b16g8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Now I'm not absolutely sure but a 25gb blu-ray disc may only have 22.5gb (or there abouts)space available for recording because of the 'overhead' reserved. Try one with less data

tkrave  2010-06-15 02:07:06 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What are the specs of your video? Aspect ratio, framerate, resolution? Are you sure it's a MPEG-2 and not an MPEG-4? What's the file extension?

Question - Navigation Tool Window No.63160
Stephen Milward  Home )  2010-06-03 17:29:48 ( ID:elu76drr0zn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
I am unable to see the Time and Frame Number options windows from the Navigation Tool window, as described in the Help section.

What is described as the Jump Tool in Help I see as the Navigation Tool.

Could anyone please help?

Thanks,
Steve

tkrave  2010-06-05 07:59:54 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The Navigation Tool can be accessed in the Cut-edit window. While in the Cut-edit window, press Ctrl + J to open the Navigation Tool or select it from the Menu button (the top-right button in the row of twelve buttons at the bottom).

It was called the Jump Tool in TMPGEnc DVD Author 3, but it's called the Navigation Tool in Authoring Works 4.

Question - Skip ahead to Chapters Divx Ultra No.63149
halfpipe  2010-06-02 23:12:31 ( ID:uggl1b16g8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello and thank you for the previous answer.
Having authored a Divx Ultra project which contained chapters and then played on a set top player, skip ahead does not function. only start, stop and ff are possible.
Can the user skip to chapters chapters?
thanks

tkrave  2010-06-08 03:14:21 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Not really sure. DivX Ultra is a little different from DVD, so that may be one of it's differences. I'll try to test this out myself.

tkrave  2010-06-09 02:26:17 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My set-top DivX Ultra player is on the fritz so I can't properly test a disc. But playing it with the software DivX Player, I can definitely jump to a certain chapter so the ability is there.
