Question - TE25 - Merge problem No.41244
bobdore  2004-03-20 08:55:37 ( ID:vbktybzctxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have two MPEG-2 files created by TMPGenc at the same time and have identical size, aspect, bitrate and fps. The audio is identical. However merge/cut claims the videos are incompatible. Clearly something is wrong, any explanation?

bobdore  2004-03-20 09:13:00 ( ID:vbktybzctxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry, I should have added that I can't see a way to find out exactly what it thinks is different about the two files. Is there a way of logging what the problem is?

ashy  2004-03-20 12:55:32 ( ID:cib90j3svn2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe one is interlaced and one is progressive.

You can find out what the properties of each one is and therefore find what the difference is with 'Bitrate viewer'
http://www.tecoltd.com/bitratev.htm

bobdore  2004-03-22 16:27:19 ( ID:knko8etqfhw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ashy, thanks.

That was exactly the difference. Now all I have to do is understand what that means and to find out how to ensure that TMPGenc is consistent.

Cheers,

Bob.

bobdore  2004-03-22 16:39:30 ( ID:knko8etqfhw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I see that different AVI codecs produce a different default MPEG encoding which is where my problem came from.

This begs two questions:

Question 1 is: How will it affect video quality if I choose a different encode mode and,
Question 2 is what is the best way of encoding, Interlace or Progressive?

Many Thanks,

Bob.

TMPG is NOT an all in one DVD to VCD solution. It is simply an encoder. You will need some other programs to do this.

You can find guides how to do this with TMPG at DVDrhelp.com

Question - TE25 - INcomplete Demuxing Problem No.41240
Megan  2004-03-20 02:12:03 ( ID:nafc1/jc24r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello there!

I'm using TMPGEnc to demux an mpeg2 stream that I have on a DVD.

I am using the Demultiplex function, and navigate to my VOB, and then begin the process.

I have gotton the full .ac3 file (5 minutes) but only the first of 3 video files. (All the audio is there, just no video).

Any idea what I can do to get the complete video file?

Thanks,

Megan

ashy  2004-03-20 13:00:11 ( ID:cib90j3svn2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you want to demux VOBs you should use VOBEDIT.
This program will either demux individual VOBs or the whole set to complete seperate files.

I have made several projects with Author but for some reason now when I go to edit a clip in a project I get an error message "cannot initialize DirectSound"
and when I click ok and go into the edit screen all the options are greyed out and I cannot do anything. I have never had any problem before, any ideas what could cause this?

I just downloaded TMPGEnc and I tried to convert a .avi to a .mpg file and when I played it the sound worked fine but the video is just black (and sometimes flickers green) so I can't see the picture. Did I do something wrong?

Question - TDA1 - AC-3 Plug-in No.49094
tinione  2004-03-19 20:57:00 ( ID:7.g5zcn1y92 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello, I am new to the world of dvd authoring but I have managed to successfully create episodic dvds with new menus using TMPGEnc Authoring program. My question is, what exactly is this plug-in used for? My free trial period is ending and I intend to purchase the authoring program but I have noticed a special price for buying both. In layman terms, can someone explain to me the benefit for the AC-3 plug-in. Thanks.

Mark A  2004-03-20 15:21:42 ( ID:5zujw0ub3q. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

AC-3 sound is Dolby Digital 2.0 (stereo) and is the most universal sound system in use.

Alternatives are:

LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation) which is also recognised by all players as part of the DVD standard, but not being compressed takes up a lot more space than an equivalent AC-3 file would.

MP2 (Mpeg layer 2) which is only standard on European players, though many US players can also handle it (not to be confused with MP3 files which are different again).

The reason it costs for an AC-3 plug in is that the authors have to pay Dolby Labs for a license to use their name and compression algorithm.

Finally, the reason you would want it, is that because you can derive sound files of the same quality, but much smaller in size, you can then devote more space on your target DVD to video, for example by increasing its sampling rate to get better quality.

Mark

Request - TDA1 - More than one audio track No.49093
jdensie  Home )  2004-03-19 20:48:34 ( ID:fqel7scbvhl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would like to be able to add a second audio track to my home vides. This way I could make commentary tracks that are included in my home videos that will expand on whatÃÔ going on in the videos I take at parks and parties. I would defiantly purchase a copy of TMPGEnc DVD if it supported a second audio track. Are there any plans to incorporate this feature anytime soon?

Thank You
Jim

Question - TE25 - What is file serving?... No.41234
ASD-123  2004-03-19 17:03:33 ( ID:caoafwsoeyf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello.. everybody say use file serving to fix problem with ntdll.dll but what is that.. I have VirtuaDub but i dont know how to do fileserving

Video Guy  2004-03-19 18:57:27 ( ID:4yfrh0hqv72 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It is called frame serving....

To do frame serving in virtual dub, go into the virtual dub folder and open auxsetup.exe
Here is a link that explains it:
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/virtualdubframeserve.htm

I prefer to frame serve using AviSynth rather then virtual dub. Head over to www.avisynth.org to download it. It comes with much ducumentaion to explain how to use it.

Question - TE25 - options /batch and /close -> skip the result log window No.41233
rolsch  2004-03-19 13:08:58 ( ID:t.pdb7megpj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi TMPGEnc-User!

I start TMpeg with the options /batch and /close it will display the result log after encoding and waits for me to OK it.

After that it will close as expected.

I think if you want it to close you don't want to say OK before, do you ?

Is there an option to skip this log (as Tmpeg does when selecting "shutdown" manually)?

Or is there a commandline option to shutdown?

- i use the TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 Version 2.521.58.169-Plus-EN (buyed & regged)

Roland

Question - TDA1 - menu noise horizontal stripes No.49088
colinpost  2004-03-19 08:49:59 ( ID:gjgp4ismbmf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Using tmpg (trail version), i've built the dvd video and menu. When i play the files (via laptop/powerDVD) the menu has large noisy horizontal stripes through it! I can still access/see the chapters and film ok, and they view/play cleanly as expected .... (The background has an image from the mpeg and has replaced the original on the template) ....any ideas anyone ??

B_Racer  2004-03-19 08:55:35 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe your Background is from a interlaced Movie?

colinpost  2004-03-19 10:18:26 ( ID:gjgp4ismbmf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i have since found out thar the problem is also occuring with original menu templates....mmmmm

colinpost  2004-03-22 11:46:15 ( ID:gjgp4ismbmf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had this problem on the DVD I burned that had the sync issues, but it appeared during the video playback. See the recent "sync" thread for details about my setup and the source file.
