Gospel 2002-04-29 23:02:57 ( ID:a/39xujikqo ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just tried Tmpgenc for the first time and its extremely fast and no quality loss! but here is my question:
I turned a subtitled movie into mpeg1 and it did it but the subtitles were gone...how can I convert this subtitled AVI into MPEG1 without losing the subtitles?

TMPGEnc audio problem when coding DV AVI into mpeg1 or mpeg2. No Video problem.

Does any one know how to avoid the non harmonic distortion.

The problem are worst when the sound level are high ( High volume )

The source audio ( DV AVI ) are perfect , No distortion of any kind.

This problem are driving me mad.

I cant get on with the job of making VCD of my baby girl.

Question - TE25 - How to prevent a movie to get stretched out in TMPGenc No.20215
1man 2002-04-29 22:19:55 ( ID:th5jgoq84y. ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The original divx is 512 x 272. I am converting it to DVD Pal (mpeg2), using the wizard in Tmpgenc 2.53, but it stretches the original material to make it 720 – 576: the people have long faces and so on. Is there a way to prevent it, I can¡Çt see how to do this in Mpegenc.

I rather have the original size and the rest filled up with black, just as it looks in, say mediaplayer. Maybe first adding this black "stripes" with a program like virtualdub? Anybody can help me? Thanks in advance

M.Bastian 2002-04-30 00:10:03 ( ID:lh1udvptj1c ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Go under Settings -> Advanced
Change Source Aspect Ratio to 16:9 Display and Video arrange Method to Full Screen (keep aspect ratio). This would do it for an anamorphic DVD Source. If you have an TV set that you can force to 16:9 you can encode without black bars and the TV will correct the aspect ratio. Unfortunately virtually no standalone DVD player will detect an anamorphic VCD or SVCD stream so your TV set has to do the work.
(For the completeness:To make an correct anamorphic stream you have to unlock the template and change under Video: Aspect Ratio to 16:9. But only some software players will recognize that ... no standalone players that I know of ;-( )

i'm going to give it a try, thanks for the tips !

Just encode a few minutes and see how it looks. Ive seen quite some divx movies that are not nearly 16:9. If the results are still looking slightly squashed or stretched you have to manually finetune the settings.

ASHY 2002-04-30 13:51:31 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

512x272 isn't exactly 16:9 but it's close enough.
Just make sure your source aspect ratio is 16:9 and your output is 4:3 and your 'Video arrange method' is 'Full screen (keep aspect ratio) and you shouldn't have any probs.

ASHY 2002-04-30 13:53:37 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Oh and another point make sure your output frame size is 720x576 as it might automatically change when you load your movie.

Just putting the option on => keep aspect ratio ratio just did the trick!

Thanks everybody11

stonehelix 2002-04-29 19:33:34 ( ID:y0s1bg94v7n ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello Ashy or anyone,
See your advise and have been searching here, VCDHelp, microsoft and more...
where can we find winrar and or winzip?
We cann't be the only ones to have this need, is it hidden in the download information? If this is how to get download open wouldn't making it's location available at the download serve all parties? users and forum

ASHY 2002-04-29 19:45:51 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

First of all refrain from clogging up this forum with unecessary double posts.

Your question has already been answered before you made this post in your other post.
Just look and you will see. You will find your question will be answered quicker if you stick to one post rather than trying to get attention by double posting because you will just be ignored by the people who can really help you in this forum otherwise.

Question - TE25 - How to mark Amoforic 16:9 in TMPGenc No.20209
trekchess 2002-04-29 18:07:07 ( ID:tkn5khvwjnr ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When shooting in amophoric 16:9, the picture is 720x576 (PAL), when converting to DVD, how to set the MPEG2 switch to amophoric, like eg. LSX encoder does.

Ian Carson 2002-04-30 11:19:51 ( ID:rc2lzjyhdtr ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I also would like to know how this is achieved. I am very impressed with the encoder and hope to be able to use it in preference to others which i have tried. But as I have invested in an expensive anamorphic lens I need to know that it TMPGEnc will handle the files this delivers.

Regards
Ian

Question - TE25 - fullscreen mpg to widescreen mpg No.20207
Sly 2002-04-29 17:19:49 ( ID:karzabxqifn ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How can I convert a fullscreen mpg-file to a widescreen mpg-file?

Sincerely, Sly.

ASHY 2002-04-29 19:56:17 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You cant convert a full screen movie to wide screen without encountering aspect ratio problems. i.e stretched picture.
If what you really mean to say is convert a full screen letterbox image to wide screen then that is a different matter.
If this is the case you should choose 4:3 as your source aspect ratio under the advanced tab in setting and trim off the black bars using the clipframe option under advanced and then choose the output aspect ratio as 16:9 display under the video tab.

Question - TE25 - Black screen but sound No.20204
Sly 2002-04-29 17:17:41 ( ID:karzabxqifn ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I convert an avi-file that is in widescreen-mode to mpeg with tmpgenc I can't see the movie. I can only hear the sound to the movie. What should I do to be able to both see and hear the movie?

Sincerely, Sly.

Minion 2002-04-29 21:35:12 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The only thing i can think of is your avi file is a divx5, divx5 isn"t supported in "tmpgenc".But if this isn"t your problem just ignore this......

Roger Singh Home ) 2002-04-30 02:32:07 ( ID:mlwgdqofzcn ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Go to environmenatl settings and then go the Vfapi section. You have to give a higher priority to the directshow filters...

then after that, decoding Divx5 is not a problem... except it seems slower to decode than divx3 or 4, but it may be one of the settings I changed or something.

When I used TMPGEnc2.53 to convert avi to super VCD the error message showing in the title stopped the program. When I loaded Video CD the program works well. I would relly appreciate it if any could help me to solve the problem.

purchase which program ?? i thought this program was free ??

ASHY 2002-04-29 19:57:51 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The program is free for MPEG1 encoding, but due to licensing MPEG2 can only be implemented as a trial unless you purchase the program.

Question - TE25 - 720X480 VS 480X480 No.20196
MadBoy 2002-04-29 16:25:39 ( ID:5saay2sgxpa ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My DVD player apex AD1500 will play about anything and I was woundering if there is much of a visual advantage to setting res to 720x480 over 480x480. Looks like my file size stays the same! It plays fine but any drawbacks to doing this. Comments

Minion 2002-04-29 21:56:51 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

the reason that svcd is 480 by 480 is cuz that is the standard, but if your player can play svcd"s at 720 by 480 the more power to you........

Question - TE25 - where can I find instructions on openning TMPGEnc after download? No.20191
stonehelix 2002-04-29 16:24:36 ( ID:6ic6hjkzlxg ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,
Have downloaded both current files can not open them, tried in Open with: and now have downloads stuck in Cinestream and can't get them open or out. Have searched for hours on this and site that recommended this site. "Search" brings up nothing. Have deleted and re downloaded still only tries (and can not) to open in Cinestream.
What program is used to open the downloads and where can a newbie read instructions?
Also : how can I make the download not automaticly become part of Cinestream?
Thank you.

ASHY 2002-04-29 16:31:43 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What the hell is Cinestream when it's at home.
To open the files you need a file decompression program such as winrar or winzip. I suggest winrar as winzip seems to have some problems.

Install winrar then right click on the .zip file and choose 'extract to.. (name of file)' and the file should extract.

stonehelix 2002-04-29 17:01:13 ( ID:6ic6hjkzlxg ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks Ashy,
Where can I find winrar and/or winzip?

Went to microsoft knowledgebase and no documents found.
If most usuers can download these files, are these decompression programs part of most systems? Wouldn't my system have this already? How do I find out if I have a decompression program currently?
Thanks

ASHY 2002-04-29 19:18:12 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Here is Winrar http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar30b7.exe and no, compression programs aren't standard on operating systems unless less you have Windows XP which does come with a decompression utility or if you have Windows Me, but in ME you will have to go to add remove programs and look in windows setup. You will see an option in accessories to install a zip compression utility.

i have 2 pc's one with 98 the other with XP. When i downloaded the latest version of tmpg i tried to merge two mpeg's together, works great with 98 butwith XP i get this error
"At address 73F91D04, Read error occured against address 73F91D04"

i have tried loading in the VFAPI plug in but still no good so why does it work on 98??

thanks
johnny

ASHY 2002-04-29 16:41:27 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ignore this error.
It's simply a bug and won't affect your movie at all.
I get it every time on my XP system and so do many others.

Question - TE25 - Audio Sync No.20188
jdagreek 2002-04-29 15:50:10 ( ID:7e6npeg19ww ) [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am using TMPGnc plus 2.53. I've noticed not all the time not with every avi but at times when encoding to MPG I split the file, using the option of setting the start and end frame, usually I set 0 - 95000 for part 1 and 95000 - [end] for part two. On multiple tries with different avi's but not all when I do this the second part audio is not sync'd, the first part is always correct.

This gets to be annoying.

I wish also they would do a few things to clean up the usability of this GREAT program, ie.

1. clear project list, sometimes it seams that old projects keep appearing even after I clear it out.

2. just some ergonomics ...

thanks for listening ...
