Question - TAW4 - "Resume" Button Possible? No.62309
Nick Hope  2009-10-18 16:21:37 ( ID:rlr2zxx1eoc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to set a menu button to "resume" so that the DVD starts playing at the same point that it stopped when I pressed the menu button?

For example I might access the audio menu to change the soundtrack and then wish to resume. As it stands I can only see that it's possible to return to a track menu.

Thanks

Nick Hope  2009-10-18 16:19:06 ( ID:rlr2zxx1eoc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would like to request the ability to have more than 2 subtitle tracks.

I have projects that use more than 2 subtitle tracks, so I have to author them in DVD Architect, but I would prefer to use Authoring Works.

Thanks

Bug report - TAW4 - No SampleFornat No.62306
Slfreire  2009-10-16 02:10:27 ( ID:zx0nhdbve4n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I tried to including a new track and after the inclusion of the subtitles I often run the Simulation Phase in order to see if everything is allright.

But now I got a message error when I tried to play a simulation of a specific track (in fact the last one.

The message was: No SampleFormat.

I tried to fix it using the video and audio settings for that particular track but It did not work.

Please someone help me.

Thanks in advance.

Sergio

Is it possible to create a custom frames in Photoshop or any other 3rd party software?

tkrave  2009-10-16 18:08:54 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, you can use Photoshop (or a similar program) to create custom frames. Check out this tutorial (it's for DVD Author 3 but it also applies to Authoring Works 4):

Question - TAW4 - Installer Freezing on Latest Version No.62292
metzmma  2009-10-14 00:50:36 ( ID:g6ylett6hhc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been trying to install the latest version of Authoring Works 4 (4.0.6.28) and it always freezes the system. My machine is running XP Pro 32 bit. Is there a known issue with this installation? Does the previous version need to be uninstalled first?

MathewLisett  Home )  2009-10-14 05:52:29 ( ID:kmeixlladmw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

your operating system that needs redoing.
or your master hdd is corrupt, which is causing the installation to freeze as the hdd is not read and writing correctly and missing data via the transfer.

there shouldn't be an issue at all with the installation otherwise.

metzmma  2009-10-14 16:53:53 ( ID:ndk.udhccwf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No, it's definitely a software issue with the installer. Other programs load/run just fine and the system is fairly new. I have another machine that runs Vista, I could try it on that.

tkrave  2009-10-14 18:30:54 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It may also be a bad download. Try and re-download the installer to make sure.

skyalex  2009-10-14 23:28:04 ( ID:juffibylnuj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi there,
I have the exact same problem.
I tried to install the newest version (4.0.6.28 I think) and it freezes at the installer. I tried to deinstall the old one, cleaned/defragmented the registry, downloaded it again and even let the computer running over night to see whether it just needs some more time but nothing worked. I'm running XP Pro 32Bit with 3.8 Gh P4 and 4 Gb RAM. Could it be that the file at the server is corrupt?
Help would much apprechiated!
Thanks
Alex

tkrave  2009-10-15 00:46:10 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just downloaded and installed the latest version and it works fine on my comp. Windows XP SP3 32-bit, Pentium 4 3.4GHz, 2.75 GB RAM.

MathewLisett  Home )  2009-10-15 00:49:54 ( ID:kmeixlladmw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

AND im going to re iterate my statement.

its your os.

just because other software seem to be fine, it only takes a little thing to make everything go wrong.

skyalex  2009-10-15 08:45:39 ( ID:5zl3/w6soog )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
I just installed it on an other XP on the same HD and it worked. I didn't try to run the software yet but the installation was just fine.
I think you where right Mathew, it is the OS. Its just confusing because I can install other software just smooth. It might even be that it won't run together with a particular set of software. Well, time will tell.
Happy Authoring...
Cheers
Alex

metzmma  2009-10-16 16:19:26 ( ID:g6ylett6hhc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ok, I finally got a chance to try to install this version on my 64 bit Vista machine and it freezes at the exact same point, so that rules out the "OS". The freeze is symptomatic of a memory leak or endless loop, but since others are having success it may just be a conflict with other software. My XP and Vista computers have very little in common software wise, with the following exceptions: they both have Norton 2010 Internet Security, and both run the same NVidia software. I have a laptop running Windows 7 RC and could try to install on that for kicks, but it too is running Norton 2010 and uses NVidia drivers.

Bottom line, there is a problem with the installer.

tkrave  2009-10-16 18:06:07 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you tried disabling Norton?

MathewLisett  Home )  2009-10-17 04:07:00 ( ID:k35eburmzjh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

bottom line is that there isnt a issue at all with the installer. just sadly that some people arent as experienced as others to realize that there OS just isnt well enough to do the installation, and its also possible that the hdd needs to have the chkdks done .

Question - TAW4 - Burning Multiple Discs No.62289
Ted  2009-10-13 18:11:36 ( ID:o7fwmv6jppw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there someway to set TMA4 to burn multiple copies of a file (rather than having to go back to the burning tool each time)??

tkrave  2009-10-13 18:36:22 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It doesn't seem like it.

MathewLisett  Home )  2009-10-14 05:50:19 ( ID:kmeixlladmw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

no, but if you do a suggestion to them, i would also say if they would eb able to put in an option to verify the burn like imgburn does that would be great.

Question - KARMA - Why the need for M$ Mediaplayer? No.61380
nono666  2009-10-12 23:16:32 ( ID:gy9rellbxej )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Why the need for windows media player? There are so many great and free alternatives that do the same work much better and without the f****n DRM!

tkrave  2009-10-14 18:59:52 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm guessing it has to do with DirectShow. Developers often use the Windows Media Player SDK instead of the DirectShow SDK because it is easier to work with.

Question - TE40 - Tmpenc xpress doenst use the srt tags No.59089
niksoftarg  2009-10-12 17:07:51 ( ID:tnydkc.ahek )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi Iam trying to add hardcodec subtitles to a movie via the filter "subtitles", I can import the srt file, but when I encode the movie the subtitles has the <i> </i> showing and not doing the italic effect that the tag is suppossed to do.....

any ideas how to fix this?

tkrave  2009-10-12 19:47:28 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To my knowledge, you can't; 4.0 XPress simply doesn't recognize srt/html tags.

MathewLisett  Home )  2009-10-14 05:54:21 ( ID:kmeixlladmw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

xpress can import the subs, but will only work with its own "custom" layout ie it wont work of the users subs from file.

Question - TAW4 - .avi imported with Authoring Works 4 - Audio Sync Problems No.62288
Keith Kessler  2009-10-12 04:09:51 ( ID:bripqrww7ew )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

I've been using TAW4 to import .avi files from my Canon S1000 camera. Of the 40+ tracks I've done none of them have the audio in sync with the video. (What is really bad is I deleted the .avi's before I looked at the output.) Anyway, when trying to "fix" the out of sync audio in TAW4, sometimes it is in sync and sometimes it is out of sync and all I do is play the same track over and over. I can not figure out how to fix this problem. Any help would be appreciated. I love the ease of the TAW4 product but it doesn't seem to work for my application.

TIA,

Keith

Question - TAW4 - Endcode DivX with TMPGEnc DVD Author is faster! No.62286
nguyendaiphat  2009-10-10 16:22:31 ( ID:w38vj/81pzk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi staff,
I'm using TMPGEnc DVD Author 4. I create DivX Ultra NTSC from a Xvid video file (800Kbps, ~350Mb). When encoding (output) it show only ~23 minutes done, faster than TMPGEnc Xpress 4 (more than 1 hours) :>
I try many options in TMPGEnc Xpress 4 but it can't compare with best speed TMPGEnc DVD Author 4's encoder. Anh the quality of both is same!
I'm using DivX 7 Pro and lastest Xvid codec.
One ~23 minutes and one more than 1 hours.
Can you explain for me! Thanks!

tkrave  2009-10-13 18:21:56 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm guessing it's Authoring Works 4's smart rendering engine, which doesn't re-encode video unless it has to. Didn't realize it could be applied to Xvid video, but perhaps as long as it's compatible with DivX players, it can utilize smart rendering when output as DivX? In the Source stage, do you see the smart rendering icon in the clip list (a blue "SR" that appears on the clip thumbnail)?

Request - TE40 - openCL Support No.59088
Ihatenvidia  2009-10-10 02:03:55 ( ID:/tulbazytz6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Do you have any plans to support OpenCL instead of just CUDA? Even NVIDIA will be supporting OpenCL. Nvidia product never work correctly with my video editing setup but I would really love to have OpenCL support for accelerated encoding with my ATI products.
