Question - TVMW5 BBS - Converted Files cutting off at end No.64995
gordoncanada  2011-07-23 11:30:37 ( ID:.g5g8jv545o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Lately I have been finding that the videos I convert from wtv to mp4 are cutting off near the end when I watch them while streaming to a PS3. At first I thought it was a streaming problem. But when I check the files in question on the computer's player (Media Player Classic), the converted videos freeze and only play the frozen frame for the duration of the video. I edit the commercials out using Masterworks 5, so I know the original files are good. The problem happens in the conversion process, and I don't always watch the file right away. What a pain. Has anybody got any ideas what I should do to figure out what's happening?
Thanks, Gordon

gordoncanada  2011-07-23 21:44:05 ( ID:.g5g8jv545o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have now learned that all the videos I have converted using VideoMasterworks 5 since loading the program on my newly built computer have frozen in the above manner. It took me all night to find them all. Most were converted to mp4 (625X352, 23.976 fps, 1:1 pixel ratio, full screen no bars). It also happened to one that I converted as Divx. What could this be? My hardware includes a 2ed generation Core i5 2500k processor, Z68 Extreme motherboard (slot 1155), 8 gigs of Kingston RAM, and I am using built in processor video. This was all newly released hardware when I got it in May. I am slso using Core AVC 2.5.5 as a codec.
Interestingly, VideoRedo can convert a wtv file with the commercials edited out to an mp4 with the same resolution setting with no problem.
Please, can anyone help me? It seems to be a function of Masterworks 5.

tkrave  2011-07-27 05:48:28 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does it cut off at the same point for all videos? Does it occur at a cut point? How are you editing these videos?

Do you convert them to DVRMS when importing?

gordoncanada  2011-08-02 11:07:26 ( ID:.g5g8jv545o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had to delete 60 videos that I converted with Video Masterworks 5 since I purchased it. I thought the upgraded program would be able to import wtv files, but it can't. That's why the videos freeze (usually around 20 minutes, no matter what format they are converted to). If they are converted to dvrms first, this freezing doesn't happen. Is this a flaw in the program? Is anyone else having this experience?
Thanks, Gordon

tkrave  2011-08-09 04:09:01 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If they are freezing, but not when converted to dvrms, that means the signal is bad at the point where it freezes, but not bad enough that the dvrms conversion can't take place. If the signal is really really bad, it won't even be able to convert to dvrms and you'll get an error. I've converted tons of wtv files so I know that wtv import is possible; whenever there is a problem it is because the source file is bad or the video was broadcast as H.264 (which TVMW5 can't import at all).

If you use the cut editor, you can usually see where the signal is bad in the thumbnail navigator strip. There will be a visual break and thumbnails won't appear for the bad section. You can cut out the bad section to avoid freezing, but of course, you will lose that scene where the signal is bad.

If you're using an over-the-air antenna, you may need to find a more optimal position to get a better signal.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - .MOV format playback jerky No.64991
Hagi  2011-07-22 09:08:54 ( ID:7ywoni0chhl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I recently installed TMPGEnc video mastering works 5 and I have the panasonic hmc150 that produces AVCHD (.mts files), when I installed the software, I was able to produce .mov(using the avid codec dnxhd) file from my .mts clip, it played back smoothly, and I was able to use it in my avid and finally created a dvd out of it.
Ok fast forward to my problem, I wanted to create another project for another event that I shoot, so I went through the same settings in creating the .mov, but to my surprise, the playback is jerky/strobing, it does not seem like an artifact but playback is not smooth at all.
I thought it was due to my computer(6-core 2x 2.9Ghz, 12GB ram), so I create a dvd and the same jerky(it feels like it is moving frame by frame) playback is seen on my dvd player

Hagi  2011-07-22 12:53:31 ( ID:7ywoni0chhl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Update, I have found the cause of the jerky playback. It was due to the CUDA being enabled with the filter, and I had also set mpeg1,2 for the CUDA hardware. I have the quadro 4000, so I thought the CUDA would be nice, but I guessed wrong, after disabling it, the file transcoded and played back smoothly. I am not sure if this is a bug in the current version.
BTW I have 6-core 2x 2.9Ghz with 12GB ram with windows 7 pro 64bit

Bug report - TVMW5 BBS - MDV with DTS 6 channel No.64986
sverkalo  2011-07-22 01:27:44 ( ID:wungqrrstrh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Importing an MKV with DTS 6 channel.
TMPGEnc 6 doesn't recognize the audio at all.

tkrave  2011-07-22 02:36:47 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That's because DTS is not a supported audio format at this time.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - TS Export, Smart Rendering (no recompess) No.64985
Dee  2011-07-20 18:17:20 ( ID:xgnsywd9rar )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi!
I have .TS file (h264) from my camcorder and I want to make edited (just cutted in VMW) video, but without recompression. As a result I wish to have mkv with chapters. How?
Thanks. Dee

tkrave  2011-07-22 02:36:09 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is no smart rendering in TVMW5, so it will be re-encoded no matter what.

Priyavadan  2011-08-06 20:00:16 ( ID:4nkefs6u8rk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am interested in knowing if TMPGEnc Authoring works 4 has any plans in the near future of supporting H.264 encoded transport streams for example MKV in TMPGEnc Mastering Works 5 for Blu Ray Authoring (smart Rendering) without using MPEG2 antiquated 1st generation technology. Unless the authoring software keeps up with Blu Ray technology and current preferred H.264 and VC-1 for authoring you will become obsolete,

Request - TE40 - M2T files with AC3 audio No.64984
cplapp  2011-07-20 05:14:40 ( ID:mnpkmeo6xfj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It would be really nice if I could use the batch encode option to create m2t files with ac3 (dolby) audio. Currently in the version of 4.0 XPress I have, this is not possible, which greatly increases the amount of time it takes to create my output files for clients.

Currently we have to use the encode tool to create separate M2V, Mp2 audio and ac3 audio files and then MUX each pair together.

We work with hundreds if not thousands of files at a time and cannot manually MUX each audio track with the elementary stream.

Request - TME3 - MPEG Flags No.64980
mboufleur  2011-07-20 01:39:11 ( ID:alos0d7uu6o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Would it be possible for TMPGenc MPEG Editor to change MPEG Flags?

I've got a bunch of MPEG Files that came with the incorrect field order, and the only software I could find to do such a thing would be the Restream software, that is not updated since 2004.

Request - TAW4 - Smart Rendering XDCAM-EX No.64975
Bill Shepherd  2011-07-19 10:38:51 ( ID:l7vw0pi7yfk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I film using XDCAM-EX format, 720/60P, 35mbps and edit in Vegas Pro 10. I also smart render in Vegas.

My question is; can I author to Blu-ray format utilizing TMPG4 and smart render. Every other authoring program I have tried ruins the video by over compressing.

tkrave  2011-07-20 02:26:11 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

As long as it is MPEG-2 and BD compliant, it should smart render in TAW4.

Download the trial and test your files with it to see if they'll work.

Thank you for the quick reply.

I did download the test version, but unfortunately, the program will not allow me to upload my MP4 video files.

Please disregard my last question. I read a recent comment below and added the additional filters as was suggested.

Thanks

Bug report - TVMW5 BBS - MKV from MKV No.64969
sverkalo  2011-07-19 00:55:19 ( ID:wungqrrstrh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I used TMPGEnc to make an MKV (HD) to the same output but less bitrate.
The output is fine at the start and at the end but at the middle is
messed up, indicating that the encoding didn't go well.
I used Cuda.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Can't I convert my file to flash format No.64967
u2janet2u  2011-07-18 18:16:35 ( ID:9u7dss.oyun )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just purchased TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5. IS it not possible to convert a file to flash flv or swish formats???

tkrave  2011-07-19 03:05:33 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Flash or swf is not one of the supported output formats. It can only import certain flv files.

Try installing Haali media splitter and ffdshow codecs. If that doesn't work, there are other codec packs you can try.

Question - TAW4 - How to create a button text No.64964
Eloir  2011-07-17 22:14:32 ( ID:fnghzb2yovk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to create an "text button", and link it to a chapter, for example?
It can be done with DvdLab Pro, and it is usefull for linking chapters. I don't want to create a template button for each chapter, because, for each different movie I create, those names of chapter are differents. Neither I want to use thumbnails for that.
I am testing the trial version (which is very, very limited, by the way) and I need to know it before buying the product.

tkrave  2011-07-19 02:19:53 ( ID:esk4fdefcg2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

For text buttons with no thumbnails, choose to create a custom menu, then for the track menu, select a layout that only contains text (layouts that end in "(D)"). You can edit the text in the menu editor.
