TMPGEnc MovieStyle BBS [ Sorted by thread creation date ]
I have a trial version of MovieStyle and I fed some AVCHD into it.
I want to prepare files as WMV for playback on Xbox 360 which is running as Mediacenter Extender.
TMPGEnc 4 Express can handle WMV 9 Advanced Profile with interlaced settings - works great! But MovieStyle cannot, sadly.
The deinterlacing is quite okay, almost acceptable, but not as good as real interlaced playback.
I just wanted to inform you that the installer fails when I try to install the trial version of TMPGenc MovieStyle (TMS_Trial_1.0.6.41_setup_en.exe), on a 64 bit english windows 7 (beta ofcourse). I know it is outside the environment the program is supposed to work in, so im not dissapointed or anything like that. Just wanted to tip you, cause if the installer is all that keeps this software from working on this platform, it might be a quick fix.
I tried to run it as an admin, in regular, vista compatible and xp compatible mode. It stops at "configuring installer". Then it quits and windows start creating a bug report for the beta program.
It seems to be a great product, so i am looking forward to testing it in the future:)
A user who was trying to install TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress ran into a problem during install on Windows 7, but he was able to get around it by using the command line. It's possible it's the same type of error.
Does moviestyle do a double pass before encoding the movie; and is it possible to use 5000kbps on a regular dvd instead of just 3705 or what ever the default is. Oh by the way this is for apple tv settings
You can create a custom output profile (use the "Add" button or right-click on one of the drop areas) and use one of the HD picture sizes for 5000Kb/s, but the resolution will have to be 960x540 or 1280x720 (for the Apple TV settings). I'm not sure if that will make a difference in quality since the picture is bigger than the DVD standard.
Sometimes when I encode a movie I get the full screen but in the middle of the movie it switches back to letterbox give me the black on top and bottom then later it goes back to full screen is there something I can change to keep this from happening? I want to keep it the movie full screen all the way through.
What kind of file format is it and what profile are you using? If it's a custom profile, are which aspect ratio conversion setting are you using (letterbox, pan&scan, full screen)?
This is possible. The Quick Encode feature uses the first encoding profile for each device (by default it should be "Standard Quality"). With MovieStyle open, you can right click on the first (or left-most) encoding profile and then change the setting to a different predefined profile, or even use a custom profile. You would have to do this for each device you would like to change the defaults on.
Hello All,
I currently you MovieStyle to do Divx conversion from DVD (VOBs, etc) and am very satisfied with the quality. However, I also am converting to the iPhone mp4 format (to a much smaller file of course).
But maintaining two sets of files is tiresome and I don't mind loading large files of 1-2 gb per movie onto the iphone since I don't carry so many files around at once anyway.
My question is: what is the best format for this: i.e. as good as Divx for display on my large HD screens in the house (42" LCD and 67" DLP) as well as on the tiny screen on the iPhone.
Unfortunately, the iPhone doesn't play Divx or I would be all set! ;->
I've just purchased MovieStyle and I'm generally pleased with it. The UI is straight forward, making encoding very quick and easy.
However, there are two areas where I think MovieStyle could improve:
1) Quality vs. file size is very disappointing. Using the iPod normal setting, videos look significantly worse than those encoded with Handbrake's iPhone preset using a 500kbps bitrate. Despite looking worse, the files encoded with MovieStyle are two and a half times bigger than those encoded with Handbrake! Is it the lack of two-pass encoding option? I don't know.
2) As video encoding takes a long time, I tend to set up batch jobs. What annoys me about MovieStyle is that there's no way to name the output files before the encoding starts. I'm left with a lot of "title 1", "title 1 (1)", "title 1 (2)" files at the end of the process which can be a pain to sort out.
Regarding point #2, you can set the name for each file before you output, but you have to turn off the automatic encoding option. Once that's turned off, you can add your files to the batch list, set the output name for each file, then press Start to begin batch encoding.
I have just converted an AVI to Apple tv format normal quality and the picture quality is good, however, I have repeated jittering throughout the entire movie. I also get picture freezes and the audio continues. Any Ideas what may be causign this?
I think this could be related to your QT version, or you may need to re-install it or install another MPEG-4 AVC codec. Also if you have QT PRO could be a reason.
good luck
I love what this application can do (on trial). I need to know if it's possible to tweak the encoding settings on the PS3 panel. My Xbox360 can play back H.264, but need to tweak so it will play the version for PS3. TMPGENC Xpress 4 is able to do this, but I like that this program will automatically encode from a directory. Any assistance is appreciated.
You can tweak it to a certain extent.
You can prioritize encoding quality or encoding speed and you can select the output resolution and bitrate from a predetermined list. Resolutions include 320x240, 320x180, 640x480, 640x360, 720x480(4:3), 720x480(16:9), 720x576(4:3, max. 25fps), 720x576(16:9, max. 25fps), 1280x720, and 1920x1080. You can also set it to output at 24fps (this is "cinema mode") and you can adjust the audio quality (normal, high).
You can rename the files before you output, but first you must deactivate the auto encode function.
Once deactivated, you can queue up your files like normal and it won't start encoding. Right-click on the video and there should be an option to set the name for the output file.
